Book Spotlight for Hard Charger by Meghan March (Review)

After reading the first installment in the Flash Bang series I couldn't wait for more.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of this tale of two men helping a woman heal from her painful past in a world on the brink of chaos in Hard Charger by Meghan March.  Get my impressions of this book and then add it to your bookshelf too!

Lia has known true darkness—and not just because of the power grid failure nine months ago. She has faced evil and emerged a survivor. Now if she could just make the two men she wants see her as whole and not broken … maybe she’d have a chance at the future she’s determined to claim.
Cam and Travis have been brothers-in-arms since their days as Force Recon Marines, and there’s nothing Cam wouldn’t do for his best friend—except let him have the woman Cam’s been patiently waiting for. But when Lia shocks him by saying she wants them both, he has the decision of a lifetime to make. Lose the girl, or lose his best friend.
In a world where nothing is certain, can three people find their way to love?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After the action and premise set-up in the previous series installment things continue along the same vein with this novella.  The story continues to excite as the pages combust with a menage relationship that's super steamy and shows how far the heroine has come in healing after the atrocities dealt her by those who prey on a world gone crazy.  With two strong heroes to support her a HEA is guaranteed as we get to know more about these former soldiers and the safe haven they've created.

Lia was once mired in darkness after the brutalizations done to her in Flash Bang.  Through the sensitivity and caring attentions of two very different men Lia sees a hint of brightness as she no longer jumps when encountering men nor finds herself haunted by nightmares.  She finally feels like the woman she was before the world ended and finally wants to admit her attraction to Cam and Travis.  It's not an easy decision for those involved but with the world in flux personal judgments no longer matter.  Lia's an admirable heroine whose journey to recovery was palpable with feelings of fear and self-doubt.  I applaud her owning her decision as to wanting both men and for not letting them make decisions for her anymore once she's found herself again.

Cam and Travis are a formidable pair, best friends since the military.  Their personalities may be different but together they meet all of Lia's needs both sexually and emotionally.  Cam was the more serious of the two and the one with issues of possessiveness that made him the hardest to convince when it came to sharing. Travis was more playful and easygoing, easily accepting of sharing as he was focused on Lia's needs.  Together, they're both sexy and protective with flashes of a painful past for Cam that drives him to take care of Lia and claim her for himself.  Travis is drawn to Lia too but finds his friendship with Cam just as important and will do whatever it takes to make all of them happy.

This was a quick yet decadent read with likable characters and scorching sexual encounters.  When it comes to the heroes, and their different personalities, there's a lot of similarities to Flash Bang.  The heroes are all sexy and protective and carry out their menage relationships without too much concern.  The overall story arc doesn't progress much with this installment either beyond reiterating how much worse things have gotten with the government's burgeoning involvement.  Overall though I enjoyed this story and look forward to where the increasing danger, and a new addition to the ranch, takes us next!

My rating for this is a B.

*I got this book from NetGalley for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

AUTHOR INFO:

Meghan March is the author of contemporary and erotic romance novels.
Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had.
