Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.
Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.
But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

EXCERPT:

Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece led me down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman, I can walk all by my little self.”
He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he opened the office door. “I’m sure you can.”
Then he pulled me inside.
My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—but before I could say a word, he closed the door and my back was pressed against it, his hands planted on either side of my head and his face right in mine. Like right there, within kissing distance.
Wow.
“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most of the day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens, so service is shit.”
I nodded even though I really wasn’t processing what he was saying as I was too busy staring at his mouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me to distraction.
“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messages from Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caught on to what he was talking about. “I honestly thought he was messing with me at first.”
I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”
He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.” His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touching my shoulders. “What did he do to you?”
“What?” I blinked.
“What did that bastard do to make you throw a book through his windshield?”
Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with my stomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost my cool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talk to him.”
“You don’t have to talk to him.”
“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damaged his car.”
A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.” He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”
My brows flew up. “You’re not?”
He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve always had a hell of a temper on you.”
Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, but vandalism and destruction of property doesn’t look good on you, sweets.”
“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised my hands, flashing him the blue nails.
He laughed again and then he sobered up, just like that. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coiling in my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing. “You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and this conversation would be going in a whole different direction.”
My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s . . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue, I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What are you going to do with me?”
His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expression tightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “I have lots of ideas.”

Book Tour for The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend by Alyssa Rose Ivy (GIVEAWAY)

As a reader who's become obsessed with the New Adult genre I'm thrilled to introduce you to the fun, flirty, and sentimental The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend by Alyssa Rose Ivy.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of this book and then add it to your bookshelf.  To celebrate its release make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a print copy of your choice of one of the other Hazard books too!

Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back.
When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love.

EXCERPT:

I glanced out the window and saw her. Jade? She’d driven all the way up to find me? I stared at her for a moment. Her dark hair was soaked, and she had one arm wrapped around her chest as she anxiously watched the door.
She began shivering, and I snapped. I couldn’t leave her standing out there in the rain. I opened the door and took in her sopping wet form. “Jade.” Her name came out in barely a whisper.
“Kyle.” She stood there staring at me.
“What are you doing here?” I tried to keep my voice level, but I was hit by such all-encompassing emotion that I could barely see straight.
“I’m here because I need to be. I need to be with you.” Her eyes remained fixed on mine.
Her words almost broke me. I fought the urge to reach out to touch her. One touch and I’d never be able to let go. Instead I broke the intense gaze between us and gestured for her to get out of the rain. “Come in.”
“If you’re sure.” Her eyes searched mine, probably looking for evidence that I was really inviting her in.
“I am.” I took her hand and pulled her inside, closing the door behind her.
“You’re here.” My body trembled with the effort to keep away from her. Did I think I could really stay away? That I could hold any anger or resentment toward the girl who lit up my life? “How’d you know I’d be here?”
“I didn’t know for sure. I got the address from Dana and took a chance.” She dropped her now sopping wet bag on the floor. “I’m worried about you. Everyone is. I know you are hurt, but that isn’t a reason to run away from everyone. You need to let someone in.”

Lori Foster and her sexy MMA fighters return tomorrow with the release of Holding Strong, the next installment in the Ultimate series!  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of this book, read my review of it, and then get ready to add it to your bookshelf.....

An up-and-coming MMA fighter wants more than just one night from a woman fleeing her past in Lori’s irresistible new novel.
Heavyweight fighter Denver Lewis plays real nice, but he doesn’t share. That’s why he’s been avoiding top-notch flirt Cherry Peyton. But a man can only resist those lush curves for so long. Their encounter surpasses all his fantasies, bringing out protective urges that Cherry’s about to need more than she knows…
Denver’s combination of pure muscle and unexpected tenderness has been driving Cherry wild. Yet no sooner does she get what she’s been craving than old troubles show up on her doorstep. And this time, Cherry can’t hide behind a carefree façade. Because the man by her side is one who’ll fight like hell to keep her safe…if only she’ll trust him enough to let him…

EXCERPT:

Gaze softening, her attention went all over his body. “Seriously, Denver. Did you really want to argue right now?”
He searched her face. “No.” Hell no. Especially not with her looking at him like that. He moved in again, one hand on the wall by her shoulder. “Thing is, I’m not sure you want what I want.”
For the longest time, their gazes held while her breathing quickened and her cheeks warmed. Finally, in a whisper, she asked, “Do you want me?”
With one short nod, he pressed her to the wall, feeling her all along his length. “Have for a long time.”
“You hid it well.”
“Then I’m one hell of an actor.” He brushed his mouth over her forehead. “We have a lot of talking to do, but I’d as soon do it after.”
“After?”
“After I’ve had you. Maybe several times.”
She dipped her head down so that he stared at the crooked part in her fair hair. He brushed his nose against her, down to her temple, her ear.
Her hands clutched at him. “I got the feeling you didn’t like me.”
“I like you.” It was how her flirting made him feel that he didn’t like so much.
Pushing him back so she could see his face, she asked anxiously, “You won’t change your mind?”
The laugh tried to escape, but he wanted her too much to take a chance on pissing her off. “Where’s your room?”
“Close.” On a sharply inhaled breath, she stepped him back a few paces and darted around him in a rush. “Come on.”
At first he just watched her, her obvious urgency, the way her hair teased over her shoulders. She stopped halfway down the hall and fumbled in her purse before pulling out a key card. She opened the door, jammed the key card back into her purse, and glanced at him.
Ah, hell. Definitely close. In a few long strides Denver reached her.
Seconds later they were in her room.
A second after that he was kissing her.

Book Review for The Other Brother Part 2: Taboo by Lauren Hawkeye & Tawny Stokes

From two New York Times bestselling authors comes part two of the scandalous story started in The Other Brother Part 1: Forbidden...
Nothing has changed… and everything has.
I’ve tried to forget him. I know I never will. But that doesn’t mean I should welcome him back with open arms, right?
But the heat that once sparked between us has become an inferno. He’s changed… but so have I.
I don’t know if I can resist what was once so taboo. But first?
We have some seriously unfinished business to take care of.
The Other Brother is a novel told in three parts. This is part two of three.

********************

Years have passed since the dramatic showdown between stepbrothers Seth and Theo over Allegra.  Lots of emotional upheaval with a family torn asunder.  In the aftermath Allegra became lost, falling into an abyss of drinking and meaningless sex which she's finally recovering from after intense therapy.  Some of that therapy is unconventional and has her connecting with her former stepbrother Seth in an unexpected way after he returns to town to deal with Theo once and for all.  Things between Seth and Allegra are just as scorching and with Theo's return from jail everyone's heading towards a fiery conclusion that kept me on the edge of my seat creeping ever closer to the end.

Seth may have left for jail down on his luck but he returns a very rich and powerful man still obsessed with Allegra and bent on keeping her safe no matter what.  An unexpected encounter with her at a BDSM club reinforces his belief that they're meant to be together and leads to scorching encounters that are laden with sexual tension and banter crackling with sensuality.  Seth's a sexy and powerful man exuding confidence and desperate to keep Allegra safe which brings out his Alpha nature.  He forces her to admit her feelings, and arouses her doubts, as the truth about what sent him to jail is finally revealed.  He's not alone in his battle to keep her safe though as friends from his past help him watch over her.  It might not be enough though as Theo's obsession grows stronger with a final act that leaves readers screaming from the final installment.

Allegra was crushed when Seth went to jail and her family fell apart.  She was left in pieces that led to a deep depression that she's slowly recovered from.  With the return of Theo and Seth though she's once again on edge as Theo's a changed man...and not for the better.  He unsettles her and Seth's confession about what happened all those years ago unsettles her even more.  The hard-won strength she acheived is quickly crumbling in the face of so much emotional turmoil and I felt very sympathetic towards her.  The feelings Seth arouses in her scare her but satisfy her like nothing else has before.  It's only with him that she feels whole and unashamed and I'm rooting for them to make a future together despite Theo's subtle yet increasingly dangerous threats.

This was a quick read that kept me on edge from start to finish with its intense sense of foreboding.  There's a great balance between the scorching sexual encounters between Seth and Allegra and the complex emotions radiating from this intense trio to keep me fully immersed in the action and fast pace.  Theo continues to show even more subtle depravity and takes even more dangerous steps to stake his claim on Allegra that takes him another step closer to villainy.  Seth is a formidable opponent though and it's clear that with the gauntlet thrown down here their eventual meeting will be combustible and my heart's pounding in anticipation.  Readers looking for a compelling blend of eroticism with a bit of danger will be drawn to this series that keeps me coming back for more.

My rating for this is a B+

As a fan of the NA genre I'm excited to introduce you to this fun and flirty read with emotional depth, Looking for Love by Ashelyn Drake, the final installment in the Campus Crush series.  Keep reading to get a taste of this book, along with my impressions of it.  Make sure to fill out the form too for the chance to win a signed copy of the first book in this series.

Mike Hannigan is looking for love in all the wrong places. Maybe that’s because having his heart torn to shreds by who he thought was the perfect girl left some emotional scarring. But that’s about to change.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As the last book in the Campus Crush series, there's a sense of finality for an eclectic group of college students in this fun and flirty story teeming with sexual tension.  Mike's a rare college boy in that his best friend is a girl, but unfortunately a cheating ex has left him a player flitting from one girl to the next.  He doesn't want to get hurt again and keeps his heart hidden to keep from falling into that abyss of pain that this time he might not crawl out of.  Meeting the unique and outspoken Summer has him rethinking his plans as she tests him at every turn in a relationship that has both of their emotional barriers coming down while amping up the sexual tension of waiting for sex.

This is a fast-paced story with delightfully witty banter between Mike and his friend Mindy who hold nothing back between them.  Mindy forces Mike to be honest with himself and to put his fears behind him.  Through this Mike can appreciate the uniqueness of Summer and take the time to truly know her before taking it to the next level.  The two of them are like a brother and sister, supporting and watching each other's backs, and I adored their bond.  Mike's a truly stand-up guy who may look like a player but isn't on a deeper level.  He's sweet with the tendency to talk dirty which brought a smile to my face and had him endearing himself to me completely.  As the story progresses he shows Summer through words and deeds his growing commitment.

While Mike delighted me, I found Summer frustrating.  I felt that she led Mike on early in the story, testing him after she'd been previously hurt.  She seemed a bit naive too and oblivious to the secrets in her own family that affected Mike as well.  I felt that she was a sheltered soul and it wasn't until meeting Mike that she really started living as his friends became hers where none were seen before.  She was a kindhearted soul but tended to jump to conclusions with issues of fidelity as she placed a high value on the act of sex.  Their interactions were sweet and full of him trying to shock her with his dirty talking which kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what would happen between them next.

Overall this was a fun story full of sexual tension as sexual interludes were off the table for Summer and Mike.  Their banter was flirty and full of sexual innuendos which added up to lots of playfulness.  Though this book is part of a series it can definitely be read on its own.  Characters from previous books do show up but it's more for nostalgia purposes.  For me though, the highlight was Mike and his sweet and saucy nature that had me gobbling up every scene he was in.  Ultimately this was a delightful addition to the series with a slightly bumpy journey to HFN and a heartwarming conclusion.

My rating for this is B.

Book Tour for One Night in Dublin by Kemberlee Shortland (Review & GIVEAWAY)

Those looking for a mix of steam with colorful locales will find One Night in Dublin by Kemberlee Shortland a decadent way to spend a few hours.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of a woman torn between three lovers, along with my impressions of it, and learn even more by visiting the other blogs hosting this tour.  Make sure to fill out the form below for your chance to win your very own piece of Irish land too!

At her mother’s prompting (nagging) about grandchildren, Sive wonders if it really is time to settle down. She’s just finishing college so she should be thinking about her future. But is she ready to settle down? Is she ready for kids? And more importantly, which of the three men she’s been seeing does she want to spend the rest of her life with?
Sive has a choice to make, and only 24 hours in which to make it.

EXCERPT:

Thirty minutes later, I’m on the Dun Laoghaire seafront, standing on the top step of a converted old Georgian terrace house. I’m not looking forward to the three flight trek to Fitzy’s Sky Loft, as he calls his flat, but the Irish have a saying—when needs must. And my needs are musting.
I press the buzzer and wait.
Nothing.
I press it again, but still get no reply.
“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,” I curse. Did he go into that fecking parade after all?
I turn and look out at the park over the road. Maybe he’s gone across for some reason. Seemingly not everyone was in the city today. With unusually clear skies over the county, locals are out walking the twin piers surrounding the ferry port, while others stroll along the promenade. And no doubt there are a few down at the Forty Foot—the traditionally men-only skinny dipping spot—leaping naked into the frigid waters of Dublin Bay.
A flash of memory hits me. Fitzy had taken me there once, and f***ed me in the water against the rocks, in the shadow of James Joyce’s Tower. I shiver at the thought. Not from how cold water the water had been but at how hot I had felt in Fitzy’s arms.
I’m about to buzz him again when I see his bed-tossed coppery head bobbing over darker heads just up the road. I bounce and wave frantically to get his attention.
“Fitz!”
Fitzy looks like your typical Irishman, with green eyes, fair skin, and freckles to go with all that hair. He isn’t cover model gorgeous, but more Kurt Cobain-ish with chin whiskers. His charming good looks tell a woman she can trust him . . . at least in that moment.
Can I trust him for life? That’s the big question.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The path to true love is never easy and for Irishwoman Sive it's especially rocky as she's come to a turning point in her life.  She's decided she wants more, more than just casual hook-ups.  She believes that one of the three men she's currently seeing just might be worth committing to and sets out to test them on their long-term capabilities.

In one afternoon though her dreams are shattered and she's left picking up the pieces with help from an unexpected source.  Sive's always made fun of tourists but meeting American Adrian helps her see herself in a whole new light.  She finds true self-worth through his eyes and how meaningless her past relationships were and how damaging they were to her psyche.  Before she was settling, conforming to others so she wouldn't be alone.  She so wanted love that she was willing to sell herself out for it.  With Adrian she discovers that to get real love you have to open up your whole self.  She hid pieces of herself before but in one night with Adrian she lets him into her heart completely though she knows he's leaving in the morning.  It's a profound connection they made and it changed her irrevocably.  She was sarcastic and a bit jaded at the start of the story.  Hurt by what the men said and did but quickly able to recover.  While I admired her strong-willed attitude I was saddened by her blasé outlook on love.  With Adrian though, love was magical and dreamy and something you felt from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.  It's all-encompassing, makes you whole, and it was clear that every guy before was not The One.  Adrian could be though as he's sweet, charming, and wants to know all about her.  He's not superficial, connected with her wholeheartedly and made her feel priceless.  I wish we could've learned even more about him as he's pure perfection.  Every moment they were together was a mix of heartwarming, sensual, and scorchingly erotic and I loved all the varying layers to their one night of discovery.  As he's leaving in the morning...is it just one night or will this be the start of a HEA?

This was a quick read that had surprising depth as it was a journey of self-discovery for Sive.  It was a story of empowerment and of not settling.  Sive was a likable woman put through the wringer but who came out stronger because of it.  Adrian was truly romantic in all his words and deeds and I'm still dreaming of his Adonis looks and kind heart.  Their one night together was scorching after an initial meeting that crackled with sexual tension.  Along with the strong personal connections was a loving tribute to Dublin itself through the vividly depicted scenery and colorful denizens that made you feel like you were there.  All in all it was a story that fully immersed me in the action from the very first page to the last and its rocky and romantic journey to its satisfying conclusion well worth it.

My rating for this is a B+
