Book Tour for Well Built by Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde (REVIEW)

Second chances reign when two people from warring families find themselves drawn to each other again after hurtful words and painful events as teenagers tore them apart years before.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Well Built by Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde, along with my impressions of this third installment in the Book Boyfriend series, then add this scorching tale of reunited loves and unexpected complications to your bookshelf too!

When it comes to women, sexy, well-built Kyle Coleman has always been a lover, not a fighter.  His one exception?  The sassy, tempting, smart-mouthed Ella Fisher.  Her family and his are sworn enemies, which make the two of them off-limits—despite the fact that she's inspired some of his dirtiest, most erotic fantasies for years. But when the lines between animosity and lust become irrevocably blurred one fateful evening, their one night stand leads to a very unexpected consequence—that changes everything between them forever.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Former high school flames find themselves drawn to each other once again in this scorching and sentimental tale of putting the past behind you to make a future full of HEAs.  Ella and Kyle came from warring families but couldn't deny their attraction, solid in their love for each other, until their sibling's actions and a fateful confrontation led to hurtful words and years of separation.  With Kyle's return to their small town to purchase a building that means everything to Ella, their reunion may start off combative but soon becomes crackling with sensuality as old feelings rise to the surface.  Clandestine encounters, scorching interludes, and pressure from Ella's father soon all converge to leave their HEA in doubt.

Growing up Kyle's family was looked down upon because of his father's alcoholism and his brother's criminality, but he and his mother couldn't have been more different from the beliefs others held of the Coleman clan.  Kyle was the good son focused on school, work, and Ella.  His mother worked her fingers to the bone while surviving a marriage that brought little happiness.  Their tight-knit connection still stands strong and his mother's happiness is what drives him back home into a bidding war against his high school sweetheart.  Kyle's become a rich man in the years since he left Ella behind, but it's clear he still cares for her and is desperate to gain forgiveness for the hurtful words he spoke long ago.  No other woman's ever made him want to commit except for Ella and he uses every trick in the book to spend time with her and convince her of a future together.  While he proudly wants to claim her she continues to keep him as a dirty little secret, afraid to put her heart on the line out of fear of losing him again along with her father's continuing anger over the past.  When ultimatums are issued hearts are broken and HEA is left hanging in the balance as I rapidly turned the pages to reach The End.  Kyle's a delicious hero, not afraid to admit when he's wrong.  He's a devoted son and a good friend which made him all the more likable.  He's a sexy beast too with a talent for dirty talk and issuing orders in the bedroom.  Through every word and deed he shows his dedication to Ella and it made him a perfect book boyfriend.

Growing up Ella was considered the good girl.  Her sister was the wild one, running wild without a care for the consequences, but it was something their father couldn't see.  In many ways Ella was the dutiful daughter, cooking and maintaining the household.  The only time she rebelled was with her attraction to Kyle that had them thinking of the future until the night her life fell apart. That night she sent Kyle away and was left behind to live a life started by her father.  Though she loves her small town and has no desire to leave she longs for something just for herself, so the purchase of a dilapidated building gives her hope for something of her own.  Her dream coincides with Kyle's return and leads to fireworks as old feelings quickly return.  Though Ella wants them to be just friends it's clear they've always been meant to be more, and when secretive scorching encounters are no longer enough for Kyle, Ella will finally have to choose whose life she wants to live...hers or her fathers.  Ella's a likable heroine who just wants to do right by her father.  She's caring, a bit overly so as her father milks his years-long recovery for all it's worth.  All along I rooted for her to stand up for herself, to go after what she wanted, and though it was a long time coming I cheered when it finally happened.

This was a quick yet satisfying romance of reunited loves and second chances featuring two characters that were easy to relate to.  There wasn't a lot of angst keeping them apart and the roadblock that did exist didn't keep readers from the story's satisfying conclusion for long.  The scorching interludes between Ella and Kyle were indeed hot with bits of playfulness that were nicely balanced with Kyle's sweet words and deeds.  Their interactions with their friends were also entertaining with snarky banter and brashness making for friendships that were equally relatable and showed us two characters still in need of HEAs.  All in all this was a decadent delight full of heart and soul set in a small town that charmed me from the first page to the last and is another winner from this dynamic author duo!

My rating for this book is an A-
