MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Not having read the first book in the Wait for You series I had no idea what to expect when I started reading but I was immediately drawn to Cam and loved having this love story told from his point of view.  It's not often that we get to dig deep into the psyche of man but Cam caught me off guard with his romantic words and deeds and I fell deeper into love with him as each page was turned.

Cam is a truly good man, no matter what he's done in his past.  He's had to live with the consequences of letting emotions overrule his mind, but his deed was done in the protection of his sister and is something he doesn't regret.  He's very protective by nature and immediately drawn to the pain he sees in Avery.  He's always been a protector of the underdog and this is the first step in a long journey towards trust, acceptance, and a HFN conclusion.  Between that awkward first meeting to tearful confessions much later on we get to see a young man conscious of a young woman's fears willing to move slowly, putting aside all the stereotypical male urges to epitomize a true hero and wait for the woman he's come to love.  Cam continually does the unexpected from baking and cooking breakfast to actually begging to be talked to in his drawn-out wooing of Avery.  It's an endearing and heartwarming journey that put a smile on my face and had me wishing for a Cam of my own.  He works hard to win over Avery and is exactly what she needs to heal from the betrayals of her past.

Avery lost her innocence at an early age and the pain she's carried since then was told in the first installment in this series but is dealt with to a lesser extent here as well.  It's made her fearful and untrusting of men and Cam treats her with kid gloves when they first meet.  He's patient and works hard for every little smile she bestows upon him.  Her pain is understandable but Cam is hurting just as much for what she went through.  It's a testament to how much he truly cares for her when seeing how much her fears and its ramifications have weighed on him too.  Their time together has given her strength as he forces her to deal with the past so they can move on to their future.

This story is a showcase for the amazing Cam, but there's an entertaining cast of secondary characters with heartbreaking issues of their own that I hope to see more of in future installments.  From Cam's friends Ollie and Jase who seem fun loving but have a sense of sadness surrounding them to his sister Tess to Avery's friend Brittany, there's lots of painful stories yet to be told.  This story had the perfect balance of sweet yet sexy moments that allowed readers to get to know these characters.  Unlike most romances we got an unexpectedly deep understanding of Cam behind the facade of fun-loving party boy to find someone much deeper.  He puts all other romance heroes to shame and will forever be the standard by which I rate all future heroes.  I applaud Ms. Lynn for showing the male side of romance and making him to die for.  I'm greatly anticipating the next book in this series and the undoubtedly intense emotional read it promises to be in Ms. Lynn's more than capable hands.

My rating for this is an A+
