Book Tour for Doubtless by Cat Grant (Interview & GIVEAWAY)

Riptide Publishing has another great book tour going on right now and luckily I'm a part of it.  Today Cat Grant is here with her latest release, Doubtless, which is a sequel to Priceless which I've read and reviewed previously.  Cat was sweet enough to take time out of her busy schedule to answer some of my burning questions and has also let me know about a giveaway surrounding this tour.  So keep reading to learn more about Cat and Doubtless.....

TSP:  How did you get where you are today with your writing career and would you have done anything differently?

CG:  The only way to get anywhere with writing is to just keep going. I try to publish at least four books a year, which is a pretty good output. As for what I would’ve done differently . . . in retrospect, I should’ve done more planning and market research my first couple of years out, instead of just writing whatever struck my fancy at the time.

TSP:  What's an average writing day like for you and can you describe what your writing haven looks like?

CG:  Writing “day” is a relative term. Most of my books were written between 10 PM and 2 AM. I usually sit at my kitchen table or on my couch with my laptop – when my cat’s not trying to push it out of my lap. He’s pretty insistent when he wants to be petted.

TSP:  Is there a genre that you haven't yet written in that you'd like to try your hand at?

CG:  I’ve kicked around ideas for a couple of different historicals, but the mere idea of all that research makes me shudder. I might give a three-guy ménage a try one of these days, though.

TSP:  What can you tell us about your new release Doubtless?  How does it fit into the series and will there be more to come?

CG:  Doubtless is a sequel of sorts to Priceless, and features Steve, Connor’s (one of the heroes of Priceless) best friend. From Connor’s point of view, Steve seems to have the world on a string, but Steve’s not quite as smooth and confident as he pretends to be. He goes through a lot of change and self-discovery in this story, though it doesn’t end on a traditional happily ever after. But stay tuned – Steve will be getting his own love story.

There will also be a Christmas story featuring Connor and his boyfriend Wes, with a special guest appearance by Steve.

TSP:  When writing your heroes and heroines do you have any particular images in mind (any inspirational eye candy)?

CG:  Ohhh, yes. I usually model my characters (physically, at least) on whoever I’m lusting after at the time. I’ll pull up pics on my laptop and stare at them to get me in the mood.  (You don’t want to KNOW how many pics of Michael Fassbender I’ve got…)

TSP:  How has the m/m genre, and its place in the publishing world, changed since you first started writing?

CG:  I’ve only been professionally published for the past four years, but a lot has shifted in that relatively short period of time. I remember when RWA wouldn’t let e-published authors into PAN (Published Author Network) or allow them to sign books at their yearly national conference. Now we have our own national conference, GayRomLit.

It’s an exciting time to be a m/m author. Who would’ve thought we’d come so far in just a few years? I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

TSP:  How has the constantly evolving digital revolution affected your writing career and how you market yourself?  Do you have an eReader yourself and do you see paper printed books vanishing one day?

CG:  I have an iPad and I use it for reading books every day. In fact, I haven’t bought a single paper book in months. Everywhere I go, I see people using eReaders. My writing career wouldn’t be possible without e-publishing.

That said, I don’t think paper books are going the way of the dodo – at least, not yet. I still own shelves upon shelves of paper books, mostly research titles that aren’t available electronically. But for everyday fiction reading, I prefer ebooks, simply for the convenience.

TSP:  And finally, after my last super serious question, what are some of your favorite things/the things you can't live without?

CG:  In no particular order – my cat, my laptop, my nice soft bed. My girlfriend. Dark chocolate. Opera. Supernatural. The Vampire Diaries.

Oh, and Michael Fassbender – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Doubtless by Cat Grant

Loving another begins with loving yourself.

On the surface, Steve Campbell seems to have it all: a beautiful home, a snazzy car, and a dream job as one of the country’s top 3-D optics researchers. But underneath, he’s restless and dissatisfied, tired of empty encounters with leggy lab assistants and endless evenings alone.

A chance meeting with a handsome escort lifts Steve’s spirits and opens his eyes to his long-repressed attraction to men—and his love for his best friend and business partner, Connor Morrison.

Connor might’ve loved Steve like that once, but now it’s too late for their happily ever after; Connor’s about to ask his boyfriend to marry him. Fortunately, it's never too late to learn about yourself, and maybe Steve can find a happy ending on his own.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

EPIC Award–winning author Cat Grant lives by the sea in beautiful Monterey, California, with one persnickety feline and entirely too many books and DVDs. When she's not writing, she sings along (badly!) to whatever's on her iPod shuffle, watches lots of movies, and fantasizes about kinky sex with Michael Fassbender.

    1. I envy people who can write in coffee shops, or anywhere out in public. All that noise would kill my concentration!
