Raina’s jaw dropped in the face of his mild tone. “You planned this on purpose!”
“Maybe.” Valentin gave her another smug smile. “You may as well put that blood in the fridge and text your friends so they don’t worry about you.”
She followed his first suggestion since she didn’t want to destroy a rare and powerful tool for her magic. The sight of the bottles of water, juice, wine, and fresh packages of lunchmeat and cheese made her want to kick herself for not noticing that he’d planned for her to stick around all day.
Instead, she whirled on him and summoned two fireballs in the palms of her hands. “Let me out now. Or else.”
The vampire vanished, and then she felt hot, steely manacles on her wrists before she was spun around and propelled forward at light speed. Raina blinked and found herself in the bathroom. Before she could process that, cold water sprayed on her hands and face.

Valentin’s gurgled sounds of outrage told her she’d aimed true. A torrent of French curses escaped him, somehow managing to sound both scary and sexy. His grip on her tightened almost painfully, then she was spun around again and pinned against the shower wall.
“I endured the stinking floodwaters of Katrina, witch. Your little waterspouts won’t harm me.”
His eyes glowed green fire, his lips were drawn back to reveal his fangs, and his hair hung in wet dripping strands over his face. Damn him. Somehow, he managed to look hot and terrifying at the same time. Mingled arousal and fear chased away her bravado.
He must have seen her momentary defeat, for his lips curved in a feral grin. “What’s your next move, chérie?”
Damn him! She bared her own teeth in a bitter grin. “You told me you wished you could fly.”
Raina shoved her power outward, intending to propel him into the wall. But Valentin’s grip remained on her shoulders, so she went flying with him. They slammed into the wall above the bathtub with a sickening crack of tile. The impact knocked the wind out of her. A pitiful “oof” escaped her mouth, and her head spun with dizziness.
Wearing a corset had been a terrible idea. The wire boning dug into her breasts and ribs uncomfortably.
“Mon pauvre,” Valentin murmured in a husky voice before she was once more flipped around and pinned. “I think that hurt you worse than it did me.”
“I’m fine,” she lied. “Your move.”
“If you wish.”
Then his mouth was on hers, hot and insistent. Raina melted under the onslaught and returned the kiss hungrily. She tried to reach for his hair, but he kept her arms pinned against the cold tile.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Readers looking for a flirtatious tale full of secrets, plenty of groveling, and tons of push/pull moments will find themselves drawn to this story's couple from the very start. Both hold misconceptions about the other, but whenever they get close to each other things turn combustible.  An unforgettable night in a broken-down elevator only adds to the steaminess...and complicates their feelings even more in a quick (and sometimes frustrating) tale.  Theirs is a bumpy journey to HEA, one full of emotional twists and turns, introducing readers to an immensely appealing heroine and a hero who often left me annoyed.  With each turn of the page though, I found myself rooting for them to get past all the pain and secrets, proving themselves to be a flawed but entertaining pairing.

Clover Callaghan gave up everything for the man she loved when they got married, an acting and music career that gave her emotional and financial independence being one of the most important things she sacrificed.  She's finally free now though after divorcing her lying and cheating ex-husband!  The low life actually cheated on her with her best friend which fueled her leaving him behind after taking half of the money in their bank account.  That decision leads to all sorts of complications though, most of them she knows nothing about.  But with each turn of the page readers meet a hero bent on revenge, one who becomes obsessed with making Clover pay...until he discovers that all he thought he knew about Clover couldn't be further from the truth.  The one thing he's sure of though is that he wants her, body and soul, and will do whatever necessary to win her over.  No amount of groveling is too small and their combustible connection practically jumped off the page.  Clover's a very likable heroine, one who gets knocked down but dusts herself off and starts over again.  When given the opportunity she jumps back into acting, ready to make her way on her very own.  When it comes to men, she wants someone the exact opposite of her ex.  No rich men for her in her new life!  An encounter on a broken elevator introduced her to someone unexpected, someone she's drawn to, but someone who's weighed down by secrets that makes for a very bumpy ride to HEA.  Joar Jacoby's determined to make Clover's ex pay for all the investors he betrayed.  He also has his sights set on Clover as he thinks she's part of the scam.  In a relationship that starts out based on lies though, it's not long before Joar realizes his mistake, and starts doing all he can to earn her forgiveness.

This was a romance teeming with sexual tension, a tale balancing steamy encounters with moments of push/pull.  Joar left me frustrated quite often, his frequent second guessing of Clover's knowledge making me disappointed in him more often than not.  It took him awhile to get his hero-vibe going, but once he did he utterly charmed me.  I was slow to warm up to him, but once he undertook his plan to win over Clover (through clever moments of groveling), I was totally on board.  In contrast, Clover was amazing from the very start, a tough and independent woman who deserved only happiness.  On a whole this was an entertaining story, with only a few sections that dragged, made all the better courtesy of a combustible main couple and their relationship that kept me fully invested from start to finish.

My rating for this is a B.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With the cliffhanger from the previous book hanging over reader's heads, it was with bated breath that I started reading this conclusion to the Requiem for Love duet.  From start to finish you will be on the edge of your seats, right alongside this triad who's trying to rebuild their lives amidst painful pasts that haunt them still.  It's a rocky journey, one gently and realistically depicted, that pulled me into their reunion and had me rooting for them to find HEA.  With each turn of the page I was reminded of how perfectly imperfect this triad is, how well they fit together like the pieces of a puzzle.  On a whole it's a book that touches you on every level, breaking your heart before putting it back together in a triumphant tale of overcoming the past to find a future worth fighting for.

My rating for this is an A.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

I've not read many books by Ms. Roads, but of the few I have read I've found them to be heart pounding tales that kept me glued to the pages.  This latest release once again keeps readers glued to the action, inhaling the emotional connection between the two lead characters who have had painful pasts to bind themselves together with now.  For Helena especially it's been tough with her jail time based on lies, a past that has tainted her and left her feeling unworthy.  With Thomas by her side the two of them will find unwavering acceptance and a HEA that's just within reach if they can safely navigate the bumpy road ahead.

A loving and sensual romance is nicely balanced with unending suspense in this third installment in the Beautiful Nightmare series, a connection that's not only romantic but tinged with paranormal elements.  These elements are another layer to their connective foundation and amped up the action and suspense even further.  At its most basic level, this is a story of finding the right person at the right time.  The story moves at a quick pace and provides numerous twists and turns that will have reader's hearts pounding. Ms. Roads has crafted another winner with this tale and I look forward to where she plans on taking this series next.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Upon turning the final page of this book I'm once again left drained and curled up in the fetal position.  After putting me through the emotional wringer Ms. Azzi ripped my heart out once again with a painful cliffhanger (two of them to be exact) that makes this THE series to read, each installment requiring more of an emotional investment than the last.

It's been four months since the last book ended and the romance between Derek and Allegra continues to burn.  It's a painful burn though, one that takes them from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.  With each turn of the page this couple digs deep into their emotional well, sharing much about themselves and letting readers see them warts and all.  Allegra's narrative especially broke my heart with her dark moments having me want to hug her.  Derek was truly trying upon his return this time, trying to prove he was the man for her, the man who could unwaveringly love and support her. Just when he thought everything was coming together though, along with readers, fate intervened and brought his past to the forefront where he could no longer ignore it.

On a whole this is an angst-filled romance, a sizzling tale that pulls at the heartstrings, plucking them like a guitar.  There's a sensual and emotional tug of war surrounding these two, breaking my heart numerous times before giving glimmers of hope that kept me turning the pages.  With its two cliffhangers it's a one-two punch for readers...so, stock up on tissues to get ready for the end of this trilogy hitting bookshelves next month!

Book Release Blast for Bishop by Marie James (REVIEW)…….

The only family I had is gone, and I’m forced to relive those losses all over again.

I’m now a member of Cerberus, and I can’t even recall if I signed on to get Rivet back or if I got over her before joining.
I have no other choice but to cling to the woman hired to help me recover because she’s the only one that knows less about me than I do.
I was afraid of never getting my memory back, but the closer I get to her makes me terrified of what will happen if I do.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Having read the previous book in this series I knew what condition I'd find Bishop in at the beginning...but it was still heartbreaking to see as he seemed so lost and frail while in his coma.  The connection between him and his ray of Sunshine might've started out unconventionally but it still provided a strong foundation for the two of them as they worked through their trust issues and their vulnerabilities.  It was a bumpy journey full of angst, a slow-burn romance that built slowly as truths were revealed and they both became more willing to put their hearts on the line.

For five years Bishop was in a fog, fueled by images that he didn't know were real or not.  His one constant though is the woman hired by his Cereberus brothers...Sunshine.  She cared for him, talked to him, and was his whole world while he was in a coma.  Now that he's awake though he's not ready to let her go and as his rehabilitation continues she's right by his side, supporting him as much as he supports her.  Bishop has a beautiful heart and soul and does everything he can to show Sunshine that there are in fact good men out there...and he's definitely one!  He's sweet, sexy, and he made me melt like chocolate.  His interactions with her son Ryder made me melt even more.  The bond he and Ryder had was separate from his connection to Sunshine, and the time he spent with his little buddy was fatherly (much more so than with Ryder's own bio-dad) and endearing.

Sunshine was equally likable, an independent and hardworking woman who had only herself to count on.  She's tough as nails, working long hours to account for the monetary and emotional anchors that are her ex and her mother.  For the five years Bishop was in his coma, she was his sole connection to the outside world.  Her lack of personal time, and friends, had her forming her own connection to him, sharing everything about herself, using him as a sounding board to her very heart and soul.  She held nothing back, but the moment he woke up she was a bit more hesitant.  With each turn of the page though they slowly built up their trust in one another, formed an unwavering connection that warmed my heart...and just made me feel good.

This book took a more emotional detour this time around, focusing more on the personal than on Club business.  Instead of blood being shed, it was tears.  Bishop and Sunshine were a couple worth rooting for, they were joyous together on a journey (and HEA) that they had to work hard to reach.  Though I would've liked to know more about Bishop before his drugging, I definitely connected to the man he is now and became by being with Sunshine.  Ryder was wonderful too and I loved the softer side he brought out in Bishop, seamlessly bringing this trio together to form a family!  This was a sweet and sensual addition to the Cerberus MC series, one full of heart and soul, that now has me clamoring for the next installment in this series...Legacy!
