His light amber eyes had turned dark again. Was it a trick of the light in this corridor that did that? It made him look so...hungry.

“And looks?” James stared at their reflection. He narrowed his eyes, then resumed cutting. “You must have a type.”
“Not really. I like guys based on their attitude and ability to empathize. It’s about being drawn to the man,” Arthur said. “You know? If there’s a spark when we’re talking, then that’s the thing. If there isn’t, then I don’t bother.”
“I do.” James finished cutting, then combed Arthur’s hair. “Sometimes, you just know the guy is right.”

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Whew!  What an intense ride that was as the events of the first half of this story come to a head with this release.  From the first page to the last I was on the edge of my seat as Chains' recovery, and the effect his past had on his Club, had me holding my breath.

When this story starts there's a darkness hanging over Chains from the captivity and abuse he endured in the previous book.  But there's also a sense of determination as the truth about his past, and about his relationship with Winnie and Jackson, has come out and he's still got the support of his Brothers.  Being judged by his Brothers for who he loved once had him desperate to keep his secrets but with the support of his MC he's ready to make those who tortured him and threatened Winnie and Jackson pay once and for all.

This is an intense read that requires tissues from time to time, a story that made my heart hurt for all the pain one man could endure.  But by the turn of the final page I felt immense satisfaction for the notion that love is love as Chains finally got the easy acceptance and love he so richly deserved in another winner from Ms. Earl!

My rating for this is an A.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

It was with breathless anticipation that I picked up this book!  As a fan of Adam Wainwright since the start of this series I couldn't wait to dive into his story and for the most part I found a story that captivated me even more with the outspoken, larger than life guitarist.  I was immediately drawn into the slow-burn forbidden attraction between the famous guitarist and his neighbor who happens to be the daughter of his record label's owner.  I became wholeheartedly immersed in this journey of opposites attracting, watching as misunderstandings and moments of empowerment made for a compelling read.  Ultimately I was charmed and left blushing as these two pushed each other's buttons, as they danced around what was blatantly obvious...that they were meant to be more than friends.

Adam's been a colorful and unforgettable character since the very start of this series, a man who fully embraces his single status while enjoying naughty games in and out of the bedroom with his partners.  The moment he meets his neighbor Adelaide is the moment he finds his other half in a connection teeming with sexual tension.  Early on Adam thinks he can have it all...his "Baddie" as well as his naughty moments with groupies.  But the more time he spends with Adelaide, the more tempting she becomes and the more willing he is to put his true feelings on the line.  Adam makes some missteps along the way though, frustrating me a time or two, but when it came time to grovel he did it up right.  He was there for Adelaide when she needed a hero, someone willing to protect and support her, with words and actions that had me cheering.  Adam proves himself to be more than just a wild and sexy rockstar.  Beneath the rockstar facade is a man with a kind heart, someone scared of ruining a beautiful friendship, but who proves himself to be worthy of the friend who's always been there for him.  Adelaide too is more than what she shows the world.  She exudes confidence with lots of sass, helping all those around her, but behind the facade of strength is a woman with vulnerabilities courtesy of a father who left me disappointed.

Through it all I admired Adelaide and the connection she had with Adam.  Their connection early on was one full of heart and soul, one that warmed my heart.  As time passed though things turned sizzling, feelings would no longer be denied...and that's when the angst arrived!  Heartfelt truths, moments of jealousy, and loving declarations are part of this couple's satisfying HEA as I was on the edge of my seat through the last few chapters.  As a fan of rockstar romances I found much to enjoy about this book! From the sizzling friends to lovers romance, to the flirty and heartwarming friendship, Adam and Adelaide kept me glued to the pages as I cheered them on towards HEA. Glimpses of past couples further pulled me into this story, while showing the endearing dichotomy of Adam, and by the turn of the final page I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of friends-to-lovers romances I've certainly read my fair share of them.  With this series starter Ms. Silver has added an entertaining story to the genre, crafted a charming tale with a truly likable main couple that you're drawn to from the very start. Add in supportive teammates, and their playful brotherly banter, and you have a story that promises lots of delights on the horizon.  While much of this story is familiar, I still found myself turning the pages with a smile on my face and a heart full of warm fuzzies that have me recommending it to one and all.

Tenley and Jackson have been a part of each other's lives since they were kids.  Each still living in the same city and living the life they envisioned for themselves, happy and successful.  For Jackson, it's been years of reliable friendship with the girl next door, always knowing she's there when he needs her.  But for Tenley, it's been years of unrequited love, since a party and a secret kiss turned her feelings more romantic. They're feelings she'll never admit to though...but they're bubbling below the surface. And when Tenley comes to Jackson's aid after he's injured, the feelings explode in a slow-burn journey to being more than just friends.  It's a journey that was sweet and sensual, a bit bumpy later on because of Jackson's dramatic doubts, but a journey that showed Tenley to be a caring heroine with vulnerabilities while showing Jackson that he needs more than just football in his life.  They're a couple that was always meant to be!

On a whole this was a quick read with only a small speed bump to keep readers from the satisfying HEA.  Tenley's a likable heroine, one who's devoted to being a teacher and to being there for Jackson.  Jackson too is a drool-worthy hero, laser-focused on playing football, but oh so charming once his heart realizes how much he needs Tenley by his side.  Along with watching friends become lovers in a sensual journey, I enjoyed seeing other members of the Denver Mountain Lions and the brotherly banter and support they offer each other.  The glimpses we got of these players intrigued me and has me excited to learn more about each of them as the series progresses.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of sports-fueled romances I found myself drawn to this story from the very start.  While the sports aspects of this tale get put on the back burner, readers still get glimpses of excitement on and off the ice.  In a story of a  fake relationship that slowly becomes all too real, readers will find surprising depth too as the main couple gets to know each other while showing their true selves.

It's a quick read with a main couple who aren't who they first appear.  With each turn of the page readers get to see the true characters behind the facade they show the world, and I found myself becoming more and more invested in their lives.  Through this series Tara has shown herself to be a bit ditzy, very superficial, and determined to marry for looks and money.  She's a woman who's popular and is friends with many.  Even though it's revealed why she's determined to live a life of superficiality, I still had moments of not liking her, though I understood her.  She's always been told she's nothing more than a pretty face, but in scenes with Hale she shows a smart and caring person.  There's surprising depth to this heroine, beyond her looks and playful demeanor, and I enjoyed the heroine that emerged in Hale's presence.

Hale too early on showed the world a facade.  He was a bit arrogant, a bit conceited, and grumpy at times.  As the story progressed though readers discovered an older hero, a wiser one, who ends up being totally drool-worthy and the perfect book boyfriend.  He ends up charming Tara by interacting with who she is behind the curtain, endearing himself to readers in a slow-burn connection full of sexual tension.

On a whole this was an entertaining read, a romance that took familiar tropes and turned them around.  The main couple were a sizzling pair with scenes that crackled while warming my heart.  It was a satisfying addition to the series and a delightful summer read that I recommend!

“Ryan?” Tracey held a clipboard and one of the glittery chorus girl dresses. “Do you have a second?”
“I do.” He’d rather run. “How are you?”
“I’m good. Busy. You seem busy, too.” She smiled. “You’re doing well with the sets. I can’t wait to see them in action.”
“Thanks.” Was he blushing? The tips of his ears burned. “The costumes looked good. I haven’t seen them all, but I bet they’re great.”
“Oh, they’re not done yet. I still have to get everyone fitted properly and figure out where to add more glitz like Derek wants.” She fiddled with the garment in her hands. “I wanted to talk to you about Maisey.”
“What did she do?” He steeled himself for her answer. Maisey could tell tales and made things seem worse than reality. She craved attention, too.
“It’s not anything she did.” Tracey left the stage and strode out to the audience. “Here. This is less invasive. No, it’s what happened.”
“What happened? Did she try to set us up? She thinks I need another wife.” Shit. He shouldn’t have said that. “Sorry.”
Tracey paled. “Another? How many have you had?”
“One. Carol. It didn’t work out.” He shook his head. “Honestly, I’m not looking to date anyone.” He could be convinced if the right woman asked him on a date—like Tracey.
“Uh...she didn’t say anything about a date or a wife.” Tracey fumbled with the dress and perched on one of the seatbacks. “No, she was wearing another girl’s costume because the other girl wanted Maisey to be able to dance in the performance.”
He wobbled onto the seatback one aisle behind hers. “Come again? Maisey did what?”
“Maisey wants to dance, and she’s in the class showing she can do it. One of the girls, a friend, gave her the wrong costume—the friend’s—so Maisey wouldn’t have to pay for it and could participate. I asked Maisey, and she said her dad couldn’t afford for her to dance.”
He had to be honest, but he hated the embarrassment. “I work two jobs, and I don’t have the time or money for dance. I barely keep us fed.” He tried to hide his shame. Tracey didn’t need to see him upset. If he hadn’t been saddled with Jessica’s debts, he’d be better off.
“Do you mind if she takes part in the recital?” Tracey asked. “I saw her practice with the other girls, and she’s good. She deserves to dance. She’ll have a costume, if you’ll let her, since I took her measurements. Actually, she’s already got one.”
“How much?” He’d have to shuffle a few things to find the money, but he had to give Maisey this.
“Nothing.”
