Being the world’s oldest vampire, Eamon Rutherford has enjoyed women throughout the ages as beautiful meals and one night stands. That is until Eamon decides to find a mate and settle down. His less-than-perfect choice is temperamental ballerina Lauryl Mellis. When Lauryl escapes from him in London, Eamon discovers that true commitment requires him to love another more than himself. As he struggles with his inner awakening and Lauryl’s rejection, Lauryl is busy planning her own special event, which might include the death of Eamon Rutherford.

An exciting and well-written vampire story, Blood Betrayal, is the perfect start to what promises to be a memorable series. With a mythos unique to its storyline and a setting sunny instead of darkly morose, this book sets itself apart from other vamps.
Eamon is the oldest vampire and has a lot of pressure from outside forces to keep the vampire world running smoothly. In many respects he's set in his ways, an old fashioned yet suave and sexy man who's tired of playing the field. He wants to settle down but chooses the one woman he can't control. Lauryl is a modern woman who doesn't like Eamon's intrinsically overbearing ways but before she knows it she's caught in his web and a world that overwhelms her at times.
Between two protagonists that are fully fleshed-out with personalities that sometimes are a bit abrasive and a cast of secondary characters that hinder their HEA with issues of their own, this is a fast-paced story that flows nicely between the suspense and romance. With its unique take on vampirism it sets itself apart from the pack and lays exciting groundwork for the next book in the series. Ms. Beightol is an exciting voice in the paranormal genre and I'm greatly anticipating what she has up her sleeve next.
My rating for this is a B+
