I realized that during this tour, I haven’t shared a recipe. As most people know, I’m not the cook in the family. My husband is and he is extremely good at it. Don’t get me wrong when we were dating and engaged I cooked most of our meals. The change happened when I got pregnant with our son. I had gestational diabetes and he took to heart what the nutritionists said in our classes and our eating habits changed forever at that very moment.
Fast forward 6 years after the birth of our son and I was diagnosed a full-fledged diabetic. You would think I cried, threw things and cussed the gods for giving me this but in reality I should have known. At 45 years old, I no longer had perfect health but at least I could control it and live with it. Hubby has been an angel during all of this. We really haven’t had to change our eating habits that much; just a minor adjustment but I do miss drinking beer. Beer is bad for a diabetic. It doesn’t break down easily for a diabetic like it does for someone that doesn’t have diabetes. I can drink mixed drinks and forget about the fruity drinks. (Not that I liked them that much anyway)
So I will share one of my husband’s favorite things to cook. And yes, he is man, meat, fire type of cook. He experiments a lot and believe it or not, our son eats anything we put in front of him. In fact, when we go to a restaurant, he is very picky about what he eats. Usually now, we don’t fight him and let him have his cheeseburger and fries. Our son just won’t eat what is being offered at a restaurant because his daddy cooks it better. Yes, he is a food snob already. I pity his wife one day. I can just hear our son say to his wife, “My daddy cooks it better than you.”
Grilled Vegetables:
1 of each Yellow/Red/Orange Bell Pepper
1 Yellow or Purple Onion
Asparagus with the bottoms trimmed
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt Free Cavendar’s or any all seasoning blend (just make sure its salt free)
1 gallon Ziploc type bag
Cut bell peppers in strips and the onions in rings. Put all vegetables in the gallon bag and add enough oil to coat the vegetables and enough seasoning to coat them. Seal it/shake it up and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. You want the vegetables to marinate. There is no right or wrong to marinate. Just make sure you spear the asparagus though. It can be tough to marinate but we found to spear it with a fork and it works.
Heat the grill up to 200-250 degrees. Using a grill pan or aluminum foil lay the vegetables directly on the grill. Grill for about 10 minutes if you want the vegetables still crunchy. Longer if you want them soft.
Enjoy! And my husband grills when it rains, sleets, snows, andit’s hotter than Hades! You can use any vegetables to grill. Corn on the cob is great grilled. Don’t forget your summer vegetables either.
Again, I don’t cook like I used to; I don’t need to. My husband says that cooking relaxes him after a long day at work. Whatever, I just know that I don’t have to come up with the menu, just clean up the kitchen afterwards.
Plus, our son has always had a healthier than normal diet since he was on solid foods. Just wish he wouldn’t say at a restaurant that his daddy cooks better. Yes, it can be embarrassing.
A woman has one thing on her mind tonight…sex. Dirty, sweaty, kinky sex with a cowboy. With her man gone more than he is at home, she needs the release.
After being away for two weeks, a cowboy goes looking for someone to play with for the night. Being away is part of the job but not having someone to come home to is hurting his soul. Feeling disconnected in his love life, the red head will be perfect.
Once they meet, can one night of pure passion led to more than just a one night stand for either of them? Communication is the key to every relationship. Can these two find a way to connect emotionally or are they destined for heartache.
EXCERPT:
“What’s a girl like you doing at a bar like this?” he asked.
Her voice was a purr, like a cat well satisfied with its stolen pitcher of cream. “I’m looking for someone special.”
Hoping that she meant him he asked, “Did you find him yet?”
“Maybe.” The glint in her eye told him he was definitely in the running. However, I’m not looking to hook up with just any old cowboy. He must be able to go the full eight seconds and come back for more.” She eyed him from head to toe. “Think you can handle that?”
Oh, I can most definitely handle you sweetheart.
Not wanting to seem too eager he replied, “I’m not sure but I’m willing to try.”
“Do or do not. There is no try.” He struggled not to let his grin escape. The fact that she was trying to seduce him made his dick twitch.
“Let’s just say I’m looking to burn off some pent up frustration. A little excess energy. And I’ve got plenty to burn.”
The way she shivered at his words, he knew he almost had her. He winked as she licked her crimson lips and blew out a small breath. Damn what this woman is doing to him.
He pushed her knees apart with his left leg and was rewarded with the amazing scent of her arousal. The knowledge she was wet for him had him close to going off in his jeans.
Houston, we have lift-off!
“Why don’t you have a seat cowboy and we’ll talk about it.”
She gasped when he shocked her with a brush of his lips against hers; fighting with everything he had not to deepen the kiss.
Patience, patience.
He would play her game for the moment but sooner or later, she would be his. Tied up and begging for more.
He asked her, “Now about that eight second ride?”

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
A woman looking for something new and exciting goes into a dark and smoky bar and leaves with a sexy cowboy who gives her a night she'll never forget in this very short story that piles on the heat and is over before you know it. This story is written from the prospective of the lonely woman and easily conveys her restlessness and desperation to enjoy something new. Once the action starts though the prospective changes to one of an outsider who's just along for this sexy ride.
We don't really get to know much about these characters other than they're not what they seem. This story is purely for enjoyment and gives readers a brief respite from reality. The sexual encounter starts quickly with the next few pages practically burning as we race to the sweaty and satisfying conclusion.
Ms. Williams shows a deft hand at creating a sultry atmosphere with a couples' desperation jumping off the page in this story that gives readers a bit of love in the afternoon. I look forward to what this author can create in a longer format and will be watching her from here on out.
My rating for this is a B.
*I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Hi, sweetie! I adore grilled asparagus, but I'm sorta picky-the skinny ones. Great excerpt and am so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteUs, too. If you get them too stocky, they are tough.

Fun post! Thanks for the recipe - i think it's cute that your son stands up for liking daddy's food:)
ReplyDeleteBrian is a nut and seriously won't eat the food at a restaurant because of his daddy. He will at Mexican food though. Loves Tacos, nachos, hot sauce, cheese dip but that's it.
