A lot happens in this exhilarating novella of a young woman trying to find herself, with the help of the sexy and supportive MC brothers, after being held hostage by a madman for seven years. Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Unfixable by Kristen Hope Mazzola, along with my impressions of it, then add this eleventh book in the Unacceptables MC series to your bookshelf.
It is finally my time.
I am the vice president of the Arkansas charter of the Unacceptables MC.
I’m Reese. I'm an outlaw. A heretic dirt-bag who only cares about one thing – my club.
I'm what they call....unfixable.
Well, that all was true until she came to town.
She's a white light in a sea of darkness.
I had no idea that her past could become my undoing – but I didn’t care. I would stop at nothing to protect her. To right all of those wrongs. To remove the despair from her sweet eyes.
I am a protector of my MC...and now her.
MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Good things come in small packages in this novella short on word count but long on action and romance. It’s a well-crafted tale that never made me feel shortchanged and it kept me glued to the pages from the first page to the last.
On a whole there was a nice balance between this couple’s romance and the heart-pounding suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. From the exhilarating rescue of Katharine, to the sweet and sensual connection that ultimately binds her and Reese, my heartstrings were repeatedly being pulled in a story that easily immersed me in the world of the Unacceptables MC. With a main couple that was appealing with reactions that were believable I found myself waiting with bated breath for them to reach their HEA. I wish though that readers would’ve gotten greater insight into what happened to Katharine throughout the years she spent as hostage as well as learning more about Reese’s past in order to add even deeper emotional depth. Along with this likable main couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, the men and women of the MC, who lent a familial vibe to the story along with their unwavering support. Their inclusion reaffirmed their individual HEAs while their brotherly interactions put a smile on my face. Of these secondary characters I’m especially drawn to Katharine’s brother Jett who sacrificed a lot for her and who’s a delicious new addition to the Club. By the turn of the final page I found this to be a fast-paced story with a richly rewarding conclusion that was over way too fast to truly appreciate, but it entertained me completely and has me looking forward to the next book in this series!
Life changes irrevocably for Club VP Reese when a late night visit from a lawyer sends him off in search of a military friend’s kidnapped sister. With the help of his MC brothers he rescues her but it’s a rocky road to healing for her as her past eventually returns in a heart pounding conclusion. Reese is a likable hero, dedicated to his Club and his friend, and he was just what this scarred young woman needed. He was gentle with her, never pushing her to accept more until she was ready. His caring actions belied his tough guy exterior and it made me like him all the more because of it. Katharine was clearly broken when readers first meet her, scarred inside and out due to physical and emotional abuse that’s mentioned in passing. Her fears and uncertainties are understandable and I appreciated that Reese gave her the time she needed to rebuild herself so that there was no doubt about their connection. It was a slow and steady recovery, one that I felt fully a part of and that I was rooting for from start to finish.
