This is the story of a man falling in love with a woman.
A man that was supposed to be a role model, and a woman that was just barely twenty-one.
A man who should’ve known better, and a woman that didn’t know that she was destroying his career word by word, innocent touch by innocent touch, smile by smile, until it had already imploded.
The world collapses around Absinthe ‘Sin’ Solomon, and the only thing he can do is try not to take her down with him.
The moment the inevitable happens, and the gavel bangs signaling that he will spend the next nine years in prison for attempted murder, Sin tries to let go. But Blaise Mackenzie has never, not ever, been one to give up without a fight.
Her military career might be over, but her career as a prison guard is just about to get started.
And her favorite prisoner? A pissed-off older man, a drill sergeant dishonorably discharged from the Army that tells himself daily that the new ‘Kitty Kitty’ female prison guard is not for him.
After following him around for years, watching over him from afar in any way she can, Sin is released early. And the first person that he’s going to see? A stubborn little blonde-headed female that should’ve known better than to trust a man like him.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Ms. Vale keeps me coming back for more with yet another fast-paced story set in the MC world! This read starts with an unforgettable event that binds two people together for years, putting them through the wringer, before letting them work their way to HEA. Add in a bit of suspense surrounding the human trafficking of little girls, along with some super steamy encounters for the main couple, and you end up with an exhilarating tale that kept me glued to the pages!
Absinthe "Sin" Solomon had a difficult childhood courtesy of a controlling and abusive father and a timid and kowtowed mother. The one bright spot was his close knit connection to his brothers, a connection that engendered a strong sense of loyalty in him, along with a successful career in the Army. It also made him a strong and protective man who didn't like to see a woman hurt..one woman in particular. From the moment he saw Blaise Mackenzie in basic training he became her guardian angel, saving her when she needed help most but getting himself put in prison for years and ending his military career. With his time in prison starting to harden his heart, her presence became more and more of a temptation that ultimately led to a clandestine encounter that changed everything between them. The chance to get released early in exchange for working with a secret organization that handles things the law can't puts him and Blaise in close contact with readers getting to watch them deal with all the changes to their lives as well as the dangers taking over their town. Sin's a delicious hero, a sexy giant of a man with a hidden heart of gold. He has a tough exterior, is rippled with muscles, but behind his tough exterior is a man just wanting to be loved and have a family of his own. Once he claims Blaise as his he's willing to do and say whatever it takes to win her over in scenes both sweet and erotically-charged, talk that is both naughty and heartwarming.
Blaise Mackenzie is a tough woman brought up in an MC family, taught at an early age how to protect herself. Her entry into the Army was fueled by her family's many years of service and the success they achieved. Her commitment and strong will though was no match for the sadistic drill sergeant who ended her career before it even began. It did however introduce her to the tempting Sin who she couldn't walk away from after all he did for her and for the instant (and out of control) attraction she feels for him as she follows him from prison to prison while watching over him. A clandestine encounter soon changes the course of their lives, pushing them to discuss their feelings and their futures, all while dealing with the dangerous human traffickers taking over their town. Blaise is a likable heroine, one who can give as good as she gets. She's not afraid to jump into a dangerous situation, but listens to reason when things get truly tense. She and Sin have a crackling connection, one that starts off sweet but is clearly full of sexual tension waiting to explode. They're a formidable pair whose journey to HEA kept me glued to the pages while fanning my flushed cheeks a time or two.
Ms. Vale has crafted another delightful couple whose journey to HEA was a hard-fought one when it came to his dealing with the dangers of prison, to the emotions and fears they both had to deal with while deciding what they saw for their futures. Through their growing connection I fell more and more in love with the sexy Sin, who was a definite temptation. Alongside this appealing main couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, a large cast that we've seen in previous books along with some new faces that have me excited for the future. I'm drawn to Sin's brothers, a playful and loyal group of men who are just as sexy as Sin, brothers who are definitely drool-worthy. The gritty prison scene involving fellow prisoner Deke also left a lasting impression on me as he's a book reading giant whose banter with Sin during the dangerous riot had me actually laughing. He'd make a fine addition to the group Sin now works for, and they'd make a great team, which is where I hope Ms. Vale takes the character next. When it came to the mystery, like most of Ms. Vale's books, it was secondary to the romance. It was touched on once or twice during the story, with rather obvious clues of whodunit, before being quickly wrapped up at the end. Another storyline involving the parentage of one of the missing girls was also thrown in at the end to make for an overcrowded conclusion. Despite these small quibbles I still found this to be another sexy and satisfying tale, a quick read that made for an enjoyable afternoon of steaminess and suspense that has me looking forward to Ms. Vale's next new release!
My rating for this is a B.
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
