Book Review for For Me by Wendy Burke (GIVEAWAY)

She’s fifty pounds past perfect…
Pretty and professional, orthopedic surgeon Abby Lewis has plenty of money and friends. Pushing forty-five, however, she tired of lonely nights and reservations for one.   Even her geeky little brother nabbed a drop-dead gorgeous, professional baseball player boyfriend, so what the hell is wrong with her? The doctor diagnoses her own malady—most men don’t want a woman whose lush curves overflow the hourglass.
He’s yearns for more…
Handsome, well-educated, and arrogant Casey Rupp can have any woman he desires—and he knows it. But he’s tired of shallow relationships driven by sexual exploits and lust. He wants more and determines the only way to find the right woman is to take his looks out of the equation.
Can Madame Eve work her magic for these two hungry hearts?

Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand series keeps rolling along with another installment from Wendy Burke.  Each book in this series guarantees a quick yet decadently delightful storyline that promises an hour or two of enjoyment courtesy of steamy interludes and hopefulness for the future.  This is exactly what you get in For Me and Ms. Burke has created yet another fine addition to her repertoire.

Abby considers herself over the hill and over-weight and in a moment of extreme sadness agrees to pay for an evening of sensual delight through Madame Eve's service.  From an early age she took control of the household becoming parent to her much younger brother.  Responsibilities kept her from living her life, and disappointingly superficial men kept her from finding a loving and long-lasting relationship with feelings of inadequacy left in its wake.  Thinking this is her last chance at an evening to do all those naughty things she dreamed about has her jumping in wholeheartedly to what a charming and mysterious man offers her.  In the bright light of day can their one night become more or will Abby let insecurities continue to rule her future?

Casey's life hasn't turned out as he thought it would either as a sports injury derailed his successful career.  With women throwing themselves at him for his looks and money he's grown tired of the superficiality and is looking for someone with substance.  Discovering what he can about Abby early on has him intrigued and upon seeing her he knows he's found just the woman he's been waiting for his whole life.  Keeping her blindfolded so he knows her reactions to him are genuine allows her the freedom to ask him to engage in all her darkest desires which he's more than happy to indulge in.  And indulge they do, in numerous sexual encounters that are steamy and over before you know it!  Can he convince her of his true feelings after she wakes up alone?  It will take all his charm to convince her in a hasty conclusion that leaves room for a HEA.

Abby is a spunky heroine with image issues easy to relate to.  While we don't get an in-depth understanding of what makes her tick I still found myself rooting for her and happy to see her embrace her cougar side.  Casey is immensely charming and giving and says all the right things to make a girl feel good about herself.  He's even more of a mystery though, but who doesn't find a man of mystery sexy.  Ms. Burke has written an entertaining, if a bit rushed, story that (like Calgon) took me away from it all for an afternoon and I look forward to even more of these mini-vacations in the future.

My rating for this is a B.

  1. What a thoughtful review. I like the premise and I like many of the 1NS books. I do wonder about the cover though. She's no full-figured girl!
