Book Blast for Their New Year's Beginning by Michelle Major (REVIEW)…..

Life will change irrevocably for a man who thought he'd never find the woman who kissed him senseless on New Year's Night, but Fate has other ideas in this contemporary romance of changing plans in the name of love.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Their New Year's Beginning by Michelle Major, then learn even more about this book by visiting the other sites hosting this tour.  In honor of this first installment in The Fortunes of Texas: The Wedding Gift make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a $20 bookstore GC too!

At the stroke of midnight, a stranger’s kiss changes everything...
Brian Fortune doesn’t think he will ever find the woman he kissed at his brother's New Year's wedding. So when the search for the provenance of a mysterious gift leads him into a local antique store a few days later, he's stunned to find Emmaline Lewis, proprietor—and mystery kisser! Surprise turns to shock when he realizes that she's also six months pregnant. Brian has never been the type to commit—and he’s really not ready to become a family man in one fell swoop! But suddenly he knows he’ll do anything to stay at Emmaline's side—for good...

EXCERPT:

I do need you. So much. Emmaline’s heart pounded with all the things she wanted to say to him. But those things would just make her look like a bigger fool. She’d already let her heart stay in the lead for far too long.
“I’m a soon-to-be single mother living in a small town in Texas.” She pointed a finger at him. “You’re a big-city bachelor who likes your freedom and your uncomplicated life. I’m a box of complications, Brian.”
“The past month has seemed simple enough to me,” he murmured. “Why does that have to change?”
Because I’m in love with you, she wanted to scream. But she didn’t. It was bad enough that she felt as though she was dying on the inside. She couldn’t bring herself to invite outright rejection from him. If he wanted more, he’d tell her.
“We’ve had fun,” she said, which was only a tiny bit of the truth between them. “I’ll keep up the research on the sculpture and let you know if I find anything.”
“That’s it?” He blew out a long breath.
“Is there something more?” she asked, hoping beyond hope that he’d give her some sign that her fears weren’t founded. All she needed was one tiny reason to launch herself into his arms and ask him to stay.
Their gazes held, and she could almost feel the current of electricity running between them. Emmaline wanted to believe that Brian would tell her something more. That he would give her what she needed to hear, the admission of love she was too afraid to say to him.

@UofJ411: What’s happening here?#TheyDoSayOppositesAttract #WhereAreAllThePost-its
On a scale of one to ten, Quinn Thompson is a fifteen.
Gorgeous. Fiery. A cheerleader so far out of my league it’s embarrassing that I even fantasize about her.
I need to find a way to shut down the dirty thoughts she inspires before it’s too late. If I don’t, this whole new life of mine is at risk.
Easier said than done when temptation lives right down the hall.
For such a smart guy, CK can be surprisingly clueless.
Sweet. Shy. The star of all my naughty nerd fantasies, but utterly blind to my flirtations.
Giving in to his plea to be his love coach may seem drastic, but I’m desperate for the chance to come off the bench.
Too bad the friend zone was a hell of a lot safer for my heart.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

College life has given me some of my fondest memories, and with the release of this New Adult romance of opposites attracting, I've been given even more fond memories courtesy of CK and Quinn.  As these two friends slowly become something more, readers will find themselves becoming more and more charmed by their slow burn romance while rooting them on every step of the way to see what's right in front of them.

CK is the stereotypical nerd, an all-around good guy who doesn't think he's worthy of the attraction of the hot cheerleader, and watching his journey to HEA hurt my heart at times.  With a past full of bullying he now feels unworthy of love and friendship.  Early on he doesn't fully trust his newfound group of friends, friends that we've come to call family through each book, and doesn't believe that the pretty and popular cheerleader could want him.  With his self-esteem battered and bruised it's a constant push and pull between him and Quinn that left me frustrated a time or two as well as a bit misty-eyed for how little CK believed in himself.  He's such a likable guy, a truly nice guy who deserves happiness after all the negativity thrown at him, so I rooted for him to get out of his head and move on from the past to see what was right in front of him.

Quinn Thompson is the typical popular cheerleader, liked by many and desired by many more.  She might look like she has it all, but beneath the surface is someone wanting to be wanted for what's in her heart and mind instead of what's in her sweater.  Despite what he thinks, Quinn desperately desires CK and with each turn of the page she devises one idea after another to make him see how much she wants him.  These two start off as friends, then becoming student/teacher, before their relationship turns even more intense.  Theirs is a combustible connection from the very beginning, a connection full of sexual tension, and I loved seeing how determined Quinn was to get CK to see the truth. Quinn's a wonderful heroine, one who puts her own issues away, to build CK up.  She was willing to put her heart on the line for CK time and time again to help him see his worth and their strengthening connection warmed my heart.

Witty banter, steamy interludes, and heartbreaking truths fueled this friends to lovers romance from the first page to the last.  CK was an endearing hero who slowly worked past his painful past courtesy of the sweet and caring cheerleader who was rooting for him to see the love she was blatantly offering to him.  Their pairing made me smile, made me feel happy, and the world Ms. Ciz crafted has me wanting to come back for more!

My rating for this is an A.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Just in time for the holidays comes this collection of scorching short stories influenced by the Twelve Days of Christmas carol and introducing readers to all sorts of crackling couples, some that are in pairs and some in ménage relationships.  Each story is based on a certain day in the carol, with some more successful at representing their day than others.  On a whole though this collection offers readers everything they expect from an anthology, with some past characters returning while new ones are brought to life.  It's all in support of the Trevor Project and is a decadently delightful stocking stuffer to warm readers up from the cold temps.

Amongst all the stories, I found Goner by Fiona Cole a thoroughly wonderful read set in the author's Voyeur world.  It features Atlas and Amara in consensual play that burned up the pages.  Between all the dirty talk and steamy interactions this was a blush-inducing tale that has me definitely wanting to read the other books in this series too.  It was a quick and simple story, a decadent little morsel full of temptation.

Another favorite of mine was Gift Me by M Malone, a charming romance of a nerd and his pretty next door neighbor, and their sweet and sexy journey to HEA.  Yes, it's a bit predictable, but it pulled at my heartstrings while putting a smile on my face.  Deacon and Noelle were meant to be, a likable pairing I found easy to relate to while rooting them on to finally just give into each other.

Readers will find much to like about this anthology with its differing degrees of steam and its intriguing array of characters.  The short word counts will make these the perfect reads for before bedtime, the perfect reads to give lots of Sweet Dreams!  So add this to your bookshelf for your own Twelve Naughty Days Before Christmas!

My rating for this is a B+

Glory was unexpected, infuriating, and flat-out crazy most of the time.

Book Tour for Knocked Up by the Rockstar by Christina Hovland (REVIEW)…..

A morning that ends in a sizzling encounter leads to a life-altering change for these frenemies slowly becoming something more in this romance set in the rockstar world.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Knocked Up by the Rockstar by Christina Hovland, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this second installment in the Mile High Rocked series to your bookshelf!

Things just got serious...
The only thing music publicist Courtney Lincoln dislikes more than knock-off sugary breakfast cereal is the hunky lead singer of her brother’s ridiculously popular band. A band on the rocks, again. Seems like this time it’ll take a miracle to save Dimefront. So when she discovers she’s pregnant following one teeny, tiny, mind- blowing morning with Brennan “Bax” Baxter, the timing is not great. Being a mom wasn’t part of her plan, but her plans just changed.
Following the implosion of his engagement, Bax realizes he doesn’t want to lose Dimefront, too. But he’s finally let his guard down with Courtney in a steamy slip-up that ties them together as unlikely co-parents. The big problem? He broke the cardinal rule of music—don’t knock up the bass player’s little sister. Especially a little sister who sees straight through the façade he’s painstakingly curated. But he’s always wanted a family, and he’s being offered that chance. Plus, Courtney might just be exactly who he needs to keep him grounded.
Even if the band can mend fences, there’s a baby on the way, and Courtney’s questioning everything she once thought. Bax is suddenly a dreamy boyfriend, but she isn’t convinced it’s authentic given all she knows about his rocker past. As the group heads out on what they hope is a reunion tour, Bax and Courtney have to figure out what’s real, what’s not, and if they can learn to finally trust each other...

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Growing up Bax and Courtney were the best of friends, along with her brother Linx who eventually became Bax's bandmate, but something happened to tear them apart.  Years later, in her role as publicist for Dimefront, she's forced into seeing Bax every day and comes to his aid when he's at his most emotionally vulnerable.  When an unexpected morning encounter leads to a life-altering change for the both of them, readers will find themselves on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will keep them glued to the pages of this tale of frenemies to lovers.

After reading the previous book in this series I was more than ready to pick up this one and while it's not perfect, it's pretty darn entertaining.  In many ways Bax is your typical rockstar with all his arrogance and sexiness.  Beneath the glitz and glamor though is a man teeming with vulnerabilities that a recent break-up exacerbated.  Being cheated on had my heart aching for him while his playful antics put a smile on my face.  There were times though too where he frustrated me, had me wanting to shake some sense into him to figure out what he really wants out of life.  On a whole I enjoyed the dichotomy of what made Bax the man we saw and wish we'd seen more of him as a youth, been given a more in-depth reason as to his and Courtney's falling out.  When it comes to a sizzling connection, Courtney and Bax have it in spades.  They may be waging a silent war as adults, but it's clear that they still have a connection with their one night together making that more than obvious.  Courtney's an appealing heroine, one with a good head on her shoulders who's quick to help others.  The changes that befall her through her for a loop, didn't always bring out her best side, but she muddled through as best she could. There's a lot of push/pull between her and Bax, a lot of sizzle as well as humor, all of which made for an entertaining journey to HEA.  Courtesy of outside forces there's a bit of angst from time to time too, all of which kept me glued to the pages and has me excited for where Ms. Hovland will take us next!

My rating for this is a B+

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I saw the premise of this book I was hooked!  With its Sheldon Cooper-ish hero, and a heroine who's more than what she seems, readers will be charmed by their slow burn romance while finding numerous laughs along the way.  By the turn of the final page you will find yourself immensely satisfied with a big grin on your face and ready to see where this series takes you next.

Roman Whitaker is the proverbial nerd with his dedication to school and family.  He's a bit socially awkward too, doesn't do hookups, and is easily intimidated by gorgeous women.  He's a man of science, an all-around good guy who has helped his mom bring up his younger brother and care for his elderly aunt.  His freshman year of college is when he finally gets to spread his wings...and along with moving into his own place is his earth shattering introduction to cheerleader Lilly.  It's a crackling night of opposites attracting where the nerd and the pretty pom-pom pusher find an instant connection, where hours of talking have them sharing all sorts of truths about themselves.  It's three years before they meet again though and this time their long-smoldering connection has their friendship becoming a fake relationship that slowly evolves into something more. All along the way I fell more and more for Roman.  He was utterly adorkable and endeared himself to me as the story progressed.  He's shy, sweet, yet respectful of women and supports his family in any way he can (sometimes to the detriment of himself). He's a perfectly imperfect hero and is the newest addition to my list of book boyfriends!

Lilly Howard seems to have it all.  She's pretty and popular, a cheerleader with a sparkling personality who has lots of friends but who's definitely tired of men who want her for what she is rather than who she is on the inside.  She's tired of living the life her mother wants for her too and I was immediately cheering her on to start living life for herself.  Her first encounter with Roman sees two people with self-esteem issues sharing things with one another that they never had before with anyone else.  Three years later that connection is still there and as fake becomes all too real readers will be held captive.  With each turn of the page Lilly's a wonderful heroine, immensely likable and easy to relate to, and I cheered her on as she brought a breath of fresh air to the sometimes overly serious Roman's life.  They were a delight to watch grow stronger together, witty banter with sizzling undertones, all which made me love this duo even more!

On a whole this was a slow burn romance of opposites attracting and the fake relationship that finally had them giving into what was obvious to readers from the start. Along with an appealing main couple was an equally likable cast of secondary characters, from Roman's younger brother Alex to his new roomie's Jack and Eliza (the couple from a previous book who I loved seeing where they are now), there was a sense of family that warmed my heart while making me laugh at their meddling in the couple's growing connection.  The best character though is Aunt Myrtle, Roman's sassy and spirited elderly aunt, a woman with no filter who says whatever she wants...and much of what she said had me roaring with laughter while blushing too.  A book with just her taking center stage would tickle me pink as I would love to be her when I grow up!  Though this book started off a bit slow I still found much to like about it.  From its crackling main couple, to its slow burn evolution of friends to lovers, to secondary characters who could've easily stolen the show, this was an endearing rom-com that warmed my heart and has me excited for what Ms. Ney has planned next!

My rating for this is a B+

His lover died and Gage knows he's got to move on but what if there's a chance Rascal can come back?
Gage knows Rascal is dying. The gay cancer has taken over his life and is killing him more each day. Gage knows his love can’t save Rascal, but what if there is a chance to change the future?
Rascal isn’t done loving Gage. He’s not ready to die. If he’s willing to accept the magic from Darryl at Start Me Up, he can come back.
He’s going to return to his love and life, no matter the cost. Now if only Gage will accept him...

EXCERPT:

“Okay?” Gage asked. “So? Do I take it to the apartment? What do I do with it? Is it a sex doll or something?”
I’m not an it. I’m still me. Rascal wanted to cry. The faraway look in Gage’s eyes cut him to his marrow. He’d made this man sad. He’d hurt him by dying. Damn.
“Oh, honey, you touch him to bring him to life. Once you enact the magic that way, you can talk to him and do whatever you want. He’ll be in there,” Darryl said. “He is in there.”
“You’re serious?” Gage turned his attention to Rascal. “It doesn’t look like him. This has the same eyes and hair, but not the tattoos.”

“It won’t for now. You have to establish the connection to him. Once you do, and talk to him, he’ll take on the characteristics of Rascal. He’ll look like himself again,” Darryl said. “Think of this as a pristine version of Rascal, ready to be brought to life and marked by time, just like the other. Create new marks and scars and memories this time around.”
Please touch me. I want the good, the bad, the joy and tears... I want you. He couldn't say any of those things out loud to the man he loved.
“A touch?” Gage crooked his eyebrow. “And he’ll come to life if I do? Really?” “Really.” Darryl nodded. “Try it.”
Gage shrank back. “No. I don’t believe this. The magic isn’t real. Magic is sleight of hand and all that jive.”
Gage. Rascal wasn’t sure how to reach his lover.
“Did you see Eric, Randall and Steve? They’re products of this magic,” Darryl said. “Ask them.”

Two men love her. But only one truly knows her.
College Junior Giada Conti wants nothing more than to pursue a normal life fueled by her own choices. Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize her father’s business isn’t completely lawful, or how that fact will completely dictate her future.
Pre-law student Adrian Patras is certain Giada is the perfect woman for him, until he meets her family and grasps the extent of his girlfriend’s naivete.
As Adrian finds himself unwillingly pulled into the family business, Giada grows frustrated with his insinuations about her father. Meanwhile, Giada’s ex, the notorious Luca Marino, pops back into her life with his own criminal agenda that includes winning her back.
Mafiosa Princess is the captivating first book in the steamy mafia romance series that you won’t want to put down.

EXCERPT:

As my eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room, I stared at his face. Luca looked so peaceful in his sleep, not to mention handsome. His bold, dark features relaxed as he dozed, leaving only a cluster of impossibly thick eyelashes and full lips for me to stare at.
Nothing I’d learned made sense.
I’d known Luca as a kid. I’d stared at his face before he was old enough to shave it. I’d fallen in love with him—and his beautiful face—before he’d gotten the scar just above his left cheekbone. I’d long since memorized every detail of his stupid, perfect face.
I’d thought I knew everything about Luca. One week ago, I would’ve said I knew him better than I knew anyone else.
Now, I wasn’t sure I knew him at all. I had thought he was intense, but passionate. Possessive, but adoring. Cocky, but self-loathing. I never believed he was perfect, but I sure thought he was perfect for me.

Now I realized I had no idea what horrors he might be capable of.
I started to recite the prayers of the rosary, certain I’d never fall asleep, not with the man who’d lied right beside me. Except somehow, I did.
When I awoke, the sun was up, and Luca was gone. My stomach was still filled with dread.
What was the point of knowing Luca wasn’t the man I’d thought he was if there was nothing I could do about it?
