One night is never enough...
For firefighter Sean Riddick, Warrior Fight Club keeps the demons of his past at bay, even though it means seeing Daniela England. Now he wants to take her to the mats no matter how much they go toe to toe.
ER nurse Daniela England has lost so much that she’s vowed never to need anyone again. Fight club helps her beat back her survivor’s guilt, but it means dealing with Riddick. The hot-but-infuriating firefighter is everything she wants to avoid, which is why their one-night stand was a mistake. Now she needs to keep her distance so it doesn’t happen again.
But when Dani witnesses Sean’s motorcycle accident, she steps up to help him recover. One on one, they get beneath all the snark and find a connection neither expected. As Sean heals, the sparks between them burst into red-hot passion—and ignite old wounds. **FIND THE WARRIOR FIGHT CLUB SERIES ON GOODREADS here.**

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Ms. Kaye's Warrior Fight Club series comes to a rousing end with this emotional tale of two wounded warriors finding healing through their long-simmering attraction (leading to a one night stand) and a motorcycle accident he needs help recovering from!  Theirs is a journey that put them, and readers, through the wringer in a story that pulled at my heartstrings and brought a tear or two to my eye along the way. Aiding them in their journey was a cast of appealing secondary characters, ones seen in previous books, who are a supportive group with their subtle matchmaking ways and heartwarming words of wisdom.  Together they made this a powerful read that is an unforgettable entry in the series.

Daniela England is a nurse who lost her husband six years ago and has kept her heart closed off ever since.  The loss of her husband isn't the only thing weighing on her though as there's all the other soldiers she couldn't save who still haunt her today. Being a member of the fight club helps keep her demons at bay, but it also keeps her in view of a man who's gotten under her skin and won't let go.  Though she's scared of putting her heart on the line she's having trouble denying the attraction she has for him in a relationship full of push and pull moments that play out as the story progresses. Sean Riddick is a veteran too...and now a firefighter who finds himself constantly coming into contact with Dani.  His own difficult past has him concerned about his ability to make a future, a HEA with someone else, because of an abusive childhood and the loss of fellow soldiers over the years that has him feeling like a failure.  Being part of the fight club helps him work out some of his anger but it's the heartfelt talks he and Dani soon start engaging in once he starts his rehabilitation that finally puts them on the road to HEA and an ending that made me feel good.

On a whole this was a well-crafted romance, a slow-burn tale full of push/pull moments that made for a story teeming with sexual tension. Dani and Sean were crackling together in interactions that felt more like foreplay at times.  Balancing out the combustible moments between them were scenes of deep talks that had them laying their emotions bare and had me rooting for them from the first page to the last. Though this wasn't a unique storyline it was an emotionally engaging one that warmed my heart and captivated my soul through the power of love flowing between Dani and Sean.

My rating for this is an A-

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sophia is in trouble. Again.
Maybe it’s the masks. Maybe she needs to feel something other than regret. Whatever the reason, she is either daring...or foolish...when she trades places with another submissive, and ends up spending the night in her mysterious boss’s bed.
He doesn’t recognize her, but now she’s had him, she knows one taste of his dark love will never be enough.
Gabriel Ryan has one firm rule: don’t sleep with employees.
Even though he’s infuriated beyond measure to discover Sophia in his bed after a night of mind-blowing pleasure, she is now in his blood. He craves her. Needs her. Yearns for her surrender.
But she is forbidden. He will break her with his dark desires.
When Sophia’s dangerous past waltzes into his club, Gabriel must protect her. He must claim her. And break every single one of his rules to keep her safe.

EXCERPT:

When a bell sounded in the club, he swallowed the last finger of whiskey and rose from his seat. Time to get this show on the road. Sophia had assigned him one of his favorite private rooms for the night.
He didn’t spy the woman anywhere as he trod toward the elevator with a group of Doms all heading down a floor to the private rooms. But Sophia tended to flit about and move like a hummingbird from one place to the next at these events. On Monday, he would have to commend her for a job well done. And he really needed to consider giving the woman a sizable raise for all her efforts.
She’d be surprised at how closely he watched her—not that he would ever tell her.
At first, he had watched her to see if she would fuck up, because then he would have to toss her out on her ass. He didn’t suffer fools lightly, especially when it came to his business. But then he had watched her in pure amazement over her ability to transform the two clubs into something magical each month, and make him a hefty profit in the bargain.
It was why he had given her free rein with the Donovan wedding later this month—the first of its kind at his club.
At the door to his private club room, he released a sigh. He didn’t know why he wasn’t more excited at the prospect of a scene with an unknown submissive, but he wasn’t. Although, he hoped that he could provide the submissive awaiting him with what she needed tonight.
Pushing the door open, he strode inside and was brought up short.
A petite blonde knelt at the foot of the bed, her head bowed, knees parted, and palms up on her thighs. She wore a golden corset around her slim torso, that shimmered in the low lighting. The erotic lingerie elevated her already generous breasts up into pillowy mounds and made them appear like an offering. The indent of her waist made him wonder if he could circle it with his hands.
But then her hips swelled out in a smooth curve that had his gut tightening and, surprisingly, his dick sprang to life. Granted, it could be the fact that she wore golden crotchless panties. With her thighs spread, he could see the pretty pale pink lips of her labia and smooth bare pussy.
Bloody hell.
Excitement hummed in his blood. Need thrummed in his veins. And his dick swelled painfully against the confines of his slacks. Perhaps Sophia had been correct, and he needed to be here tonight.
“And who are you supposed to be, beauty?” he murmured darkly, referring to her costume. He approached, rather entranced by the pretty picture she made, and the punch of desire suffusing him. Gabe might have resisted, but in this moment, he was all aboard with the festivities, and eagerly anticipating the night ahead.

Book Tour for The Engagement Gamble by Nancy Fraser (GIVEAWAY).......

What starts out as a fake relationship between the much-sought after town sheriff and the town's female doctor soon becomes all too real in this historical romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste The Engagement Gamble by Nancy Fraser, along with hearing from the author about history and women's roles in history, then learn even more about this book by visiting the other sites hosting this tour.  In honor of this third installment in the Love's a Gamble series make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a $15 bookstore GC too!

Ms. Fraser is here today to talk about the role of women in the actual historical time period this book is set in and how that influences this book’s storyline.  Take it away Ms. Fraser!
Balancing the heroine’s journey with norms of the post-Civil War era was one of my biggest challenges when writing The Engagement Gamble.
While it definitely wasn’t normal for the time, my heroine Suzanne Martindale, is a physician and trained surgeon. Because the story is the third in the series, my heroines from the previous two books also make an appearance. They are strong, in their own ways, especially Kate from book 1, given she’s actually from the present and traveled back in time and decided to stay.
Felicity, from Book 2, is the expected gently-raised southern belle who has a bit of a defiant streak when she decides to free her rich father’s illegally kept slaves. Encouraged by her new husband and the rest of the McAlister clan, she spreads her wings and ventures into altruistic endeavors.
However, because I was crafting stronger heroines, I had to balance that with the stereotypical and much more frequent women of the time period. The books include the doting mothers trying to marry off their daughters, the daughters enamored of any one of the handsome McAlister men. We have the docile preacher’s wife, and the older townswomen who love to gossip.
I have shopkeepers, female saloon owners (more about her in a later book), cafĂ© owners. While all are businesswomen, they still adhere to the time period expectations. I knew if I went too far outside the expected, except with my heroines, I’d be courting criticism that the books weren’t realistic.
My greatest accomplishment though in mixing the expectation with strength was with Virginia McAlister, the family matriarch. No one, not even the strong McAlister men, would dare to cross her. She holds her own with bankers and businessmen and anchors the entire family while still retaining her gentile southern upbringing.

Marshal Zack McAlister has made it his mission to protect the good citizens of Greenville, MS. In particular, one very opinionated and independent lady doctor. The only hindrance to his professional obligations are the dozen or so single women vying for his attention.
Suzanne Martindale, M.D., has quickly become a fixture in Greenville since taking over for her semi-retired predecessor. And, like Marshal McAlister, she’s been inundated with unwanted suitors.
When Zack proposes a fake engagement, Suzanne is reluctant at first and claims in order for anyone to believe they’re actually courting and in love, there has to be chemistry between them.
Zack sets out to prove they can easily fool the people of Greenville into believing their ruse. Will his smooth Cajun charm and steamy-hot kisses do the trick? Or, are they destined to be victims of their own charade?
When outside forces threaten the entire McAlister clan, can Zack keep his family, and his faux fiancé, safe? And, will a life-threatening accident show them anything, even love, is possible if you have trust?
~~~
The McAlister family welcomes you back to Mississippi with a third adventure, and maybe a sneak peek at yet another devastating seductive McAlister man!
EXCERPT:
“It’s been quiet around town lately. Not much for a decorated marshal to defend.”
“You trying to get rid of me, Doc?”
“Now why would I do that? If you were to leave, who else would I have to argue with?”
“We don’t argue,” he said, his gaze meeting hers in challenge. “We discuss...heatedly.”
“It only gets ‘heated’ when I’m winning.”
He shook his head and leaned back against the side of the desk. “If you say so, Cher.”
“As to your offer of an escort, I can see myself home, Marshal. There’s no need to wait.”
“I’d feel better if you let me escort you.”
She sighed deeply, and Zack waited for her to launch into another of her ‘independent woman’ speeches. Or, at the very least, remind him that he was being over-protective.
“I’ll only be a minute or two, if you insist on waiting.”
“I insist.”
She could have said she needed another hour and Zack would have gladly stayed. Despite what he’d said to Pete Bailey earlier that evening, Suzanne Martindale was a breath of fresh air among the over-zealous horde of ladies hounding his every move.
She was beautiful, well-educated, independent, and beautiful. Zack shook his head, trying to shake the repeating thought free. Obviously, no matter what her many assets, her beauty was the one thing tying him up in knots. Or, maybe, it was the fact she didn’t use it to her advantage, as some of the other ladies did. Instead, Suzanne relied on her brains and taunting sense of humor to get her where she wanted to go.
“All set,” she said, drawing Zack from his mental inventory of what made Suzanne Martindale the most desirable woman he’d ever met. And, at the same time, not at all what he was looking for in a wife.
Once she’d locked the door to the clinic, Zack offered his arm. Nodding toward the hospital next door, he asked, “Do you need to stop?”
“No, the night nurse is there, and our only patients are the new mother and babe. They’re in good hands.”
They strolled along in comfortable silence until they’d reached the walkway leading to the small stone cottage where Suzanne lived. She stopped just short of the gate.
“Shall I walk you to the door?”
“This is fine, thank you, Marshal.”
“Marshal? I thought we’d agreed on Zack?’
She met his gaze, rolling her eyes for exaggerated emphasis, he supposed. When she shook her head, a small lock of blonde curls fell free of its pins. Zack’s hand itched to take the silky strands in his fingers and tuck them back where they belonged.
“You suggested Zack and Suzanne. I don’t remember agreeing. I’d much prefer Dr. Martindale, or just ‘doc’.”
Her continued attempts at formality amused him and he asked, “Tell me something, Cher, do you ever let your hair down and just relax?” Before she could answer, he added, “Have any of your friends ever been tempted to call you Suzie?”
She paused briefly before saying, “Only those who wished to be soundly kicked in the shins.”
As an employee of MacBain Security and Solutions, Claire Kelly can certainly hold her own. Armed with an impressive set of covert skills, she’s more than prepared to tackle any job that comes her way…except one involving Cooper Lockman.
Cooper and Claire used to work together before his feelings for her sent him packing to Europe for six long years. But now he’s back and determined to ignore the still-smoldering heat that lingers between them.
Their current mission: go undercover together at a California high school to root out the mastermind behind a prostitution ring targeting young girls. The closer they get to the truth and the closer they get to each other, however, the deadlier their task becomes. As Claire and Cooper risk their lives to bring down their target, will their hearts be the final casualties?
EXCERPT:
Claire collapsed onto the living room sofa the second she walked in the door. Not only had she suffered a headache the entire day, Cooper ran her like a trainer working an Iron Man competitor.
“That sounds like a bad day,” Jax said as she walked around the corner of the kitchen.
“You don’t want to know.”
Claire flung an arm over her eyes to block out the sun.
She heard Jax walk in the room and then exhale as she sat down. “You’re right. I don’t give a crap what happened in school, unless it involved Cooper. What I want is the details of last night after I got out of the car.”
Before Cooper picked them up, Claire and Jax had agreed that Jax would give them a few minutes to have a private conversation. Now Claire regretted that plan.
“The long story, or the short story?” Claire asked.
“Whatever one you want to deliver.”
Claire’s arms slid off her head, and she pushed herself into a sitting position.
“Cooper has a thing for me.”
Jax sat silent, blinked a few times. “Okay, and?”
“What do you mean, ‘okay, and?’”
“Sorry, Claire, but that’s obvious. I think you’d have to be an idiot to not see it. Even the guys on the team see it.”
“What? Are they talking about—”
Jax stopped her with a shake of the head. “Of course not. But you can tell by how they look at the two of you that they know there’s an attraction.”
Claire pointed to her chest. “I’m not doing anything, it’s him.”
“Maybe it’s more him.”
She kept shaking her head. “No, it’s all him. I’m not instigating anything.”
“You flirt with him all the time.”
“I do not,” Claire huffed.
One look from Jax and she rescinded her statement. “Okay, we banter. But it’s always been like that. I have the pool stick, he makes some kind of phallic joke. It’s banter. Not flirting.”
Jax sat back, crossed her arms over her chest. Claire couldn’t believe her best friend was calling her out. “We’re friends. And last night he ruined that by telling me he’s had a thing for me since we met. Told me he left sunny California for dreary London because I was too young and naive to handle him when I first got here.”
Jax narrowed her eyes. “Is that really how he said that?”
Claire’s headache was coming back. “No. He said I was a child.”
“A child?”
Claire stood up from the couch, started for the kitchen. “He kept repeating that I was eighteen back then.”
Jax followed behind. “Which is true.”
Claire yanked open the fridge, pulled out a beer. “Whose side are you on?”
“Yours. Always. But I just don’t see where all the fire is about this. Cooper owns up to the flirting comments and puppy-dog looks he gives you, and you’re pissed because he walked away six years ago."
Like picking a lock, the pieces slid into place and finally started to click. “But he’s my friend.”
“Trying to say you’ve never thought of him as more?”
“No.” Her denial was quick.
Jax started to smile. “You’ve never checked out his ass? The guy can fill out a pair of jeans.”
Some of the anger she’d harbored all day eased. “That’s true.”
“And that smile. When he’s belly laughing he has the tiniest dimples.”
Claire closed her eyes, pictured his smile. She hadn’t noticed the dimples, but now that she thought about it...She opened her eyes to find Jax staring at her.
“Sounds like you have a thing for him,” Claire said.
“Wouldn’t matter if I did, and I don’t, by the way, but it wouldn’t matter. The guy can’t stop looking at you.”
“God, what am I going to do with him?”
“I don’t think you have to do anything. It’s not like he asked you out and you said no and now it’s awkward.”
“You’re right. It’s worse than that.”
“You’re overthinking it.” Jax pushed off the counter. “You know what, let’s gussy up a little and hit a proper happy hour. We’ll talk in German and pretend we don’t speak English and shamelessly flirt.”
Claire abandoned her beer. “Now that is exactly what I need to do and get my mind off of boys.”
EXCERPT:
Damon Fitzgerald woke with an excruciating headache and the sense that he was being stabbed slowly but relentlessly through one eye. The headache was familiar—usually a sign he’d imbibed a little too heavily the night before—but the stabbing sensation not so much.
Cautiously, he raised one hand to touch the eye currently being stabbed only to encounter his own eyelid. So. Not being stabbed then. That was a relief.
He was still a little disoriented though, and his mouth felt like the bottom of a birdcage, so it took him some time to realize that the stabbing sensation was coming from the sunlight shining through a gap in the curtains and straight into one eye.
Sun. He hadn’t seen the sun for at least three days, due to the weather being crap, which was strange for LA...
Which was when he remembered that he wasn’t in LA. He wasn’t even in Juneau, where he’d been for the last couple for weeks.
No, it was worse than that. Way worse.
He was in a room over the Happy Moose bar in a tiny, privately owned town called Deep River, smack bang in the middle of nowhere, Alaska. And he’d been stuck here for three days because the weather had been so bad he hadn’t been able to fly out.
Damon lay there for a moment as the realization settled through him, trying to reorient himself, because he’d definitely over imbibed the night before and this hangover had teeth. Then with a sudden start, he remembered that sun was a good thing.
Sun meant the weather was better, which in turn meant he could get the hell out of here and back to LA.
Rolling off the bed, he dragged himself over to the french doors that led onto the room’s tiny balcony, shoved them open, and stumbled out onto the balcony itself, just to check that the sun was real.
Sure enough, though it must have been early in the morning, the sun was actually shining, the sky a bright, almost painful blue, making the white caps of the mountains looming on all sides look extra white and extra sharp.
Ahead of him was the deep, rushing green of the river the town was named for. Deep River. It had been settled during the gold rush at the end of the nineteenth century by the West family, who’d bought the land Deep River sat on and leased out bits of it to anyone who wanted a place to call home. A quirky little town, as Damon had spent the last three days finding out.
Deep River consisted of a ramshackle series of buildings clustered on the side of the river, connected by a boardwalk that projected out over the water and a narrow street that ran behind the buildings on the land side. They were old, those buildings, the paint on them faded, the wood cracked and worn through long exposure to rain and sun and snow. Not as picture- postcard as the ones in Ketchikan to the south, but there was definitely a certain vintage charm to them. Like a group of elderly ladies whose beauty was a little faded and careworn, they still possessed the ghost of their stunning youth, a certain timeless magic that tugged at the heartstrings.
Houses very similar to those at the water’s edge were scattered up the hill behind the town, and there were a few more buildings along from the boardwalk, huddling against the hill’s side.
A set of wooden steps led down from the boardwalk to a dock where several fishing boats and trawlers were tied up, but since it was comparatively empty, most of the boats must have gone up the river to the sea for a day working the nets.
Damon took a deep breath and then another, the fresh bite of the air settling his headache and cooling his skin, waking him up. He wasn’t a small-town kind of guy, but there was something quite majestic about the mountains and the forested hills that loomed above him. Especially now the sun was shining. He’d complained about the rain the night before to one of the locals, who’d then informed him of Deep River’s average rainfall, which was some horrendous amount that sounded just wrong to someone from LA.
Still, it did explain the solid three-day downpour and made him feel lucky that it was a beautiful day now.
Movement below him caught his eye, and he glanced down at the boardwalk.
The kid was there again, skulking by the big wooden pole stuck in the boardwalk that had “Middle of Nowhere” painted down the side. A tall, gangly teenager dressed in jeans and a black hoodie.
He always seemed to be in Damon’s vicinity, and if Damon didn’t know any better, he’d say he was being followed.
Though surely it was a little too early in the morning for teenagers? Weren’t they supposed to sleep past twelve or something?
The kid was looking straight at him, though he was too far away for Damon to see what expression was on his face. The fixed way the kid was staring was slightly unnerving.
A woman came suddenly into view. She had shoulder-length blond hair, and it was blowing around in the wind, a bright counterpoint to the plain jeans-and-T-shirt-combo she wore, a parka pulled on over the top, and she moved with great purpose to where the kid stood. She spoke to him a second and then turned her head, and Damon found himself under the intense scrutiny of two people.
His skin prickled, cool air moving across it. Moving everywhere across it.
Aw hell. He’d neglected to dress before stumbling out onto the balcony, and since he always slept naked...Yeah, no wonder both the woman and the kid were staring.
Shy.
God, she was so painfully, awkwardly shy.
Blurting out the wrong thing at the wrong time? Check.
Puking in front of the class when she’d needed to give a speech? Double check.
Critically, embarrassingly unable to summon any semblance of a rational thought when in the presence of an attractive man? Triple check.
And she was surrounded by gorgeous, sexy men on a daily basis.
As video coach for the San Francisco Gold hockey franchise, Dani spent her days wrapped in a technological bubble. She studied tape, prepared clips for the players, and generally avoided other people.
Until Ethan.
She’d thought he was going to ask her to fix his computer.
Instead, he’d asked her out.
On a date. A date! That didn’t compute. It couldn’t be right. No one asked her out—
Ethan had.
And suddenly, Dani thought it might be possible to leave her shy, awkward days behind her.
Book Release Blitz for Musical Mayhem by Alley Ciz (REVIEW)......
 Rockstar romances are among my favorite themes and it's what drew me to this rom-com from the very start.  It's the characters that kept me turning the pages though in a sensual m/m romance that I wish had been longer.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Musical Mayhem by Alley Ciz, along with my impressions of it, then add this next installment in the BTU Alumni series to your bookshelf too!
Help Wanted: Producer for the latest album from multi-platinum selling band Birds of Prey.
Enter Sammy Rhodes.
Famed DJ The Spin Doctor.
Musical genius.
Fits with the band like he's our sixth member.
We hired him on the spot.
So what's the problem?
He's also all broad shoulders and dazzling smile, and has this flop of hair I constantly yearn to brush away from his handsome face.
What should have been a match made in musical heaven could decimate my career.
Why?
Because as the front man of BoP, I've been living my life from deep inside my walk-in closet for years. Will I risk everything for love?
MUSICAL MAYHEM is an inter-connected stand-alone BTU Alumni Novella and falls in the timeline as BTU1.5. It is a MM rom-com featuring a devilishly handsome DJ, a ripped rock god, and the Covenette shenanigans you've come to know and love.
*MUSCIAL MAYHEM was previously released as part of THE RULE BREAKER ANTHOLOGY and has been revised and expanded*
MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately drawn to the premise of this novella, but as part of a series I always worry I'll be missing out on all that came before.  Fortunately this is the kind of story that you can pick up on its own and enjoy from the first page to the last.  With likable characters, sizzling interactions, and a bit of angst courtesy of a lead singer hiding his sexuality, readers will find themselves glued to the pages and rooting this couple on every step of the way.  By the turn of the final page I was left with a smile on my face and a heart warmed by this couple's journey to HEA, a journey that has me more than ready to revisit all these characters again soon!
Jamie Hawke is lead singer of the band Birds of Prey, a band who's been together for years and found lots of success.  As the lead singer he's the face of the band, the one who's the center of attention, which is why he's kept his homosexuality a secret.  He worries that the truth about himself will destroy the band and has, until now, been content spending time with women.  With their upcoming album hitting a rough patch though, Jamie's starting to feel the pressure, which makes his unexpected attraction to their new producer such an inconvenience.  The moment he meets Sammy sparks fly and their time together shows them more than capable of making beautiful music together!  But their journey to HEA isn't an easy one as misunderstandings, self-doubts, and the press cause all sorts of bumps along the way as Jamie decides what's more important...love and truth OR lies and loneliness.  Jamie's a likable hero, sweet and sexy.  He's charming too with moments of insecurity that endeared him to me.  While his fears of coming-out are understandable they're frustrating too as he's selling his bandmates short when doubting their support of him.  Despite my frustration I adored the members of Birds of Prey and was proud of their role in Jamie's journey.
Sammy Rhodes is a self-confident young man being given the chance of a lifetime producing rock gods Birds of Prey's new album.  Add in his instantaneous attraction to the band's lead singer and his life will be inexplicably changed forever.  It's an attraction that doesn't go smoothly though as outside forces and self-doubts weigh on them in a journey full of emotional highs and lows.  Through their time together it's clear that Sammy's comfortable in his own skin, coming-out at a young age has made for an open way of living and loving and he has no desire to hide...even IF that's what Jamie might want.  Throughout his romance with Jamie he has a strong support system of friends who are more like family and they stand beside him through every speed bump on his road to HEA and it made for a few tears and cheers along the way!
On a whole this was a satisfying novella, a well-crafted m/m romance with a large cast of secondary characters who I sometimes lost track of but always found likable.  From Sammy's friends to Jamie's bandmates, these were characters that were unconditionally supportive and that now have me curious to know more about them all.  Jamie and Sammy were a delightful pairing, sweet early on in scenes that warmed my heart before things turned sizzling later on.  There were moments that frustrated me, moments that made me blush, and moments that had me screaming...all in all I got put through the emotional wringer and enjoyed every moment of it!  Though much about this novella was familiar I still found it an entertaining and enjoyable m/m romance that fans of the genre will want to get their hands on!
My rating for this is a B+
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
