Book Tour for Breath to Bear by Paula Dombrowiak (REVIEW)……

As a fan of rockstar romances I'm thrilled to give you a tempting taste of this powerful tale involving the past and trying to move on from it as an older rockstar tells his story to the world while finding unexpected romance along the way.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Breath to Bear by Paula Dombrowiak that's releasing today, along with a glimpse of the previous installment in the Blood & Bone series, then get my impressions of this emotionally engaging series which will have you wanting to add these books to your bookshelf too!

BLOOD & BONE (Blood & Bone #1)

The world thought Jack O'Donnell was just another egocentric Rockstar, but they were wrong. So very wrong. How do I know this? I would be the one to tell his story.

It wasn't the clear blue of his eyes that held so much pain, or the well-defined forearms of a practiced guitar player that drew me in.

It was his story.

He told me I wouldn't be able to handle it, that I wouldn't like the ending. As I sit in a cold metal chair in the basement of a Catholic Church, I know he is right.

I am a journalist. Trained to get the story. He shouldn't be trusting me with the most vulnerable parts of himself.

But he did.

He's a '90s rock legend, making the tabloids salivate for all the juicy tidbits of his life. He served it up to them with a messy divorce, a devastating loss, and the revolving door of his many rehab stints.

He is a beautiful disaster, his life a train wreck you can't look away from but there is more to Jack than just the headlines.

The problem is, I'm getting too close. Our connection is undeniable and our pasts colliding but he's still in love with someone else.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately pulled into this tale that travels back and forth in the life of aged rockstar, Jack O'Donnell, taking readers from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs and back again.  It's a gritty story, one that pulls at the heartstrings, and is just the beginning of Jack's story as he slowly starts over after finding an unexpected connection to another.

Jack's story is a heartbreaking one from the very start as readers get to see the early stages of his life, a life of abuse at the hands of his father that led to him running away to LA to find fame.  Through it all music was a big part of his identity, and readers get to see how music made for many good moments and many bad ones in Jack's life.  Along with music was his friend and muse, Mia, a woman who came to mean the world to him and who led to one of his biggest heartbreaks.  She's not the only woman in his life as there's model Amber and her unexpected pregnancy that added daughter Hayley to his world too.  With each turn of the page readers discover a life full of angst, a life of addiction, a life of poor choices, all of which had me frustrated by Jack occasionally. From the outside Jack was all glitz and glamour, a rocker full of confidence, but behind that facade is a man teeming with vulnerabilities.  A man uncertain of himself and bruised by his painful past.  He's ultimately a man whose pain drew me to him and had me slowly falling for this imperfect man looking to right a lifetime of wrongs.

With a career that ran the gamut from success to break-up, readers will be quickly consumed by this rollercoaster ride of emotions, be engrossed in the realities of the music business, all while being impressed by this being Ms. Dombrowiak's debut novel. The emotions are heartbreaking at times, pulling at reader's heartstrings, in a tale where the women in his life have a profound effect on his journey.  Erin is the latest addition to his life, a journalist set to write his story who ends up finding a surprising romance with him that saw their instant crackling connection become a blazing fire by the end of the book.  His friends and bandmates, Wade and Cash, are also there beside him, have seen him at his best and worst, and I truly hope their stories get told more fully too.  On a whole this was a powerful read with a realistic hero on an unforgettable journey that kept me on the edge of my seat.  The ending left plenty for readers to ponder which has me excited for the next installment in this series!

My rating for this is an A-

BREATH TO BEAR (Blood & Bone #2)
These chains that weigh me down, my guilt I wear like a crown, SHE is my Breath to Bear
Jack O’Donnell
I thought telling my story would purge my demons, but it didn’t. If anything, it brought them closer to the surface.
Now, they’re threatening to drag me back into the darkness and stop me from moving on with the journalist who captured my story and my heart.
The guilt I bear is heavy, the road I’ve traveled long and littered with scars that run deep. I’ve been down this road before, in love with two women at the same time.
It didn’t end well.
Erin’s running scared - for good reason - but I won’t let her get away that easy.
Am I strong enough to get rid of the ghosts from my past in order to have a future with Erin?
Erin Langford
Journalists are supposed to be objective, to look at a story as if you’re outside a window looking in. That’s what I was taught.
That’s what I should have done.
Instead, I fell through the glass and right into Jack O’Donnell’s bed.
The memoire I was supposed to write turned into more than I bargained for. I’m in too deep.
So far gone.
He’s like a bad drug, making his way through my veins, and stopping my heart. Yet, I still want more.
There’s just one problem - he’s still in love with someone else. She’s the ghost in the room, the girl that ruined him for all others.
Am I strong enough to be the one to help him heal?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After reading the previous book in this series I knew I had to finish the epic tale started there.  This one picks up right where the other left off with Jack and Erin working on his autobiography, trying to deal with past pains to make a future HEA.  This book has Jack and Erin trying to put all the broken pieces of Jack back together, moving on from his past instead of letting it weigh him down.  All the emotional pain seen in the previous book is once again on display, tissues will definitely be needed, as Jack is redeemed in reader's eyes.  He previously was often seen as an arrogant rocker, but here you can't help but hurt with him, can't help but see the bruised little boy behind the man.  I was drawn to him completely throughout this story, cheering him on as he worked through his past, making amends in a journey that was unforgettable.  Erin too showed a different side to herself here, a stronger side that knew what she wanted and went after it.  Erin's an immensely appealing heroine, one more fully fleshed-out than before in a journey that puts readers through the emotional wringer.  Just when you think you know where things are going, fate pulls characters in another direction.  The push/pull, the twists and turns, all make for an epic journey to HEA that I am honored to recommend to others!

My rating for this is an A.

Helena Davenport doesn’t need a man—nor does she want one. As heiress to her late father’s fortune and business, she’s here to impress. But apparently, you can’t get away from societal expectations—even in the twenty-first century, and the board of directors wants this queen to crown a king.

She’ll get the company board off her back by giving them exactly what they asked for, and watch them eat their words. What could possibly go wrong?

Social events put the pair to the test, forcing them to get cozy—a little too cozy. The situation soon turns red hot and a little worrisome.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I picked up this book I was captivated!  From its appealing characters to a storyline that pulled at my heartstrings, this was a tale that pulled me along on a rollercoaster ride that wouldn't let me go.  From emotional heartache, to steamy encounters, to moments of laughter, this was an unforgettable tale and a decadently delightful read as lovers become enemies becoming lovers while looking for a second chance.

Bailey and Riggs have a crackling connection from the very start as these two apparent opposites found their way into each other's lives, found a bond through their painful pasts and through baking.  The time they spend together reveals hidden layers of their personalities while giving them the support they need to deal with their emotional baggage.  Theirs isn't an easy journey to HEA though as misunderstandings lead to a second chance that readers will be rooting for.  Riggs starts off as a cocky and arrogant baseball player but beneath that facade that he shows the world is Alex, the loving son who would give all to his mom.  He's not the proverbial mamas boy by any stretch of the imagination though as he's a talented dirty talker who once he commits to Bailey won't be swayed.  He's a good friend too, one who's not afraid to admit his love of baking, one who's secure in who he is except when it comes to his father's disappointment in him. That's something that hangs over him, affects his relationships with others, and it had my heart aching for him.  Riggs was a complex hero, a delicious one who I've now added to my list of Book Boyfriends.  He's not a perfect man, but he's perfect for Bailey and together they scorched up the pages.  Bailey's as immensely likable heroine, one I can easily see myself as a friend to.  She's a sassy young woman, a punk rock aficionado who's determined and tough as nails.  She's been hurt in the past too which has her building a wall around herself that only Alex seems to have been able to get through. While her relationship with him is a big part of the book, I also found much to cheer for regarding her and her friend Ivy's connection.  These two young women had a healthy, supportive, and caring connection that put a smile on my face for its realism and its handling of issues of mental health.  From a loving couple to likable friends this tale was everything I never knew I wanted in a romance.  With each turn of the page I juggled between a plethora of emotions while reaching for the occasional tissue to wipe away tears of sadness as well as of laughter!

On a whole this was a near-perfect read with an engaging main couple whose crackling connection led to sizzling encounters and witty banter that at times felt like foreplay. There was angst, emotional highs and lows, and secrets from the past that kept the future of Bailey and Riggs' relationship uncertain.  Their journey was a compelling one, one that gave readers all they could want and more.  Alongside this wonderful main couple were characters from the past that have me excited for the next installment.  The glimpses we got of Jesse were enticing and he promises to be another unforgettable hero from the talented Ms. Benson which now has me waiting for with bated breath.

My rating for this is an A.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Rockstar romances are amongst my favorites and I can truly never get enough of them.  Though I've never read anything from Ms. Ellis in the past, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this story.  The storyline may be familiar but courtesy of an emotionally bruised yet immensely appealing hero and heroine, I found myself captivated by this romance from the first page to the last.

Bordeaux Daniels is a man with a past lacking in love.  Growing up he never felt good enough, never fully loved for himself.  The only place he found happiness, felt adored, was when his high school band found fame.  That adoration though feels superficial and has Bordeaux wanting to be loved though he's leery of putting his heart on the line.  He doesn't think himself capable of love, but it's at this moment when he unexpectedly finds it.  With his band feeling disillusioned by their record label, it's time for a break, and during this break he comes to help run his grandma's record store.  While there he ends up spending time with new employee Isla, a woman unlike any he's known before and soon their battered hearts start healing together in a sweet and sensual romance.  Isla Robles is a feisty heroine, strong with a sturdy backbone.  Having recently discovered her ex cheating on her, she's ready to start over.  Coming to work at a record share gives her a new beginning and unexpected romance with a man who isn't what he's portrayed as.  Though she knows he's a world famous rockstar it doesn't impress her and, being leery of risking her heart again, has her cautious in her dealings with him.

Despite their fears theirs is a match made in Heaven.  Bordeaux is drawn to Isla because of her being unimpressed with his fame, he enjoys the chase, and commits to going after her fairly early on.  Isla's a bit guarded about her past and it will take a lot for Bordeaux to get her to reveal everything about herself.  But when fate brings them closer together, when the rocky world of music invades again, they will become each other's rock.  In a slow-burn romance they will discover the missing pieces of their hearts in the other person's arms.  Theirs is a crackling connection from the start, a pairing teeming with sexual tension, yet full of heartache with reader's heartstrings pulled with each turn of the page.  Along with this immensely appealing main couple, readers will get glimpses of the other members of the band, a band with delicious and drool-worthy players who are tender yet tough with backgrounds that are equally painful.  On a whole this is a well-crafted and emotionally engaging series starter and I look forward to where the band goes from here!

My rating for this is an A-

Book Tour for Mack by Heather Young-Nichols (REVIEW)…..

A single kiss is never forgotten, but leads to lots of complications, in this rockstar romance of second chances.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Mack by Heather Young-Nichols, along with getting my impressions of this fifth installment in the Pushing Daisies series, which will have you wanting to add it to your bookshelf!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rockstar romances there's much to enjoy about this fifth installment in the Pushing Daisies series.  With its crackling banter and angst-fueled tale of an older man tempted by the younger best friend to his sister, readers will find themselves captivated by the sexual tension teeming between these two.  Their romance might've been seen as forbidden by some, but I found it oh so right!

Growing up Mack lived a life where much of his time, and much of himself, was devoted to others.  He's spent so much time denying himself that, despite never forgetting the kiss he had with Bri, he continues to fight his feelings for her.  The close quarters they have with each other soon makes her (and their kiss) harder and harder to ignore in a tale full of temptation.  Through all their push/pull moments Bri is a likable heroine full of joy and love and I was rooting for her every step of the way to get Mack to lower his emotional walls.  Together they were a sizzling pair, connecting in a romance that was clearly meant to be.  Though there's nothing new to this storyline, it's the characters that will have readers enjoying this series ender, and waiting with bated breath for what this author crafts next!

My rating for this is a B.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of MC-themed romances I'm always drawn to books set in this usually gritty world.  Having read some of the books in the Cerberus MC series previously I couldn't wait to start this one and it definitely didn't disappoint!  Giving readers moments of heartbreak mixed with heartwarming encounters and truths kept me glued to the pages and the journey these two battered souls undertook.

Micah "Snake" Cobreski is a delicious hero, one who proves himself to both readers and single mom Lucy right from the start.  Being in an MC means carrying yourself with a bit of toughness, a bit of roughness around the edges, but with Snake there's even more delightful layers to him.  He's a man of honor and loyalty, a man who will sacrifice all for other's happiness.  He's drawn to Lucy the moment he sees her and does all he can, all she'll let him do, to make life easier for her and her son Harley.  There's a bit of push/pull between him and Lucy early on as she struggles to accept his help, but his interactions with Harley won her over in a heartwarming journey to HEA that endeared him to me while making me a bit misty-eyed with how beautiful these three could be as a family.  Micah never hesitated in stepping up to the plate, being what Lucy needed, and though he occasionally may have doubted what he can offer another...he's a swoon-worthy book boyfriend that I'd love to get for Christmas.

Single mom Lucy is done believing in miracles, done in believing in HEA...at least until she meets the sexy and commanding Snake.  Lucy has a lot of baggage though as her ex has left her battered and bruised on the inside, while on the outside she's leery of others and doubtful of their intentions.  Despite everything she's a loving mom, one who will go without so that her son has his needs met.  She panicked the first time she saw Snake with Harley, but from that moment on theirs was a sweet and sensual journey to HEA, a journey put in jeopardy with the return of Lucy's ex.

Though this was a novella it packed quite an emotional wallop!  Intense feelings of self-doubt were balanced with heartwarming moments full of heart and soul, all wrapped up in a bow of joy and laughter fueled by the Christmas holiday.  Lucy and Snake were combustible from the very beginning with each turn of the page bringing them closer together, making them stronger as they realized there was no weakness in accepting help.  Putting your heart out there, accepting help unconditionally does in fact make you stronger.  Seeing these two as a couple made me happy, while the scenes with Harley rounded out everything and endeared Snake to me even more as I saw a tough guy with a heart of gold making Christmas dreams come true!  Harley's a wonderful character on his own, a happy and joThis was another wonderful addition to the Cerberus MC series, the perfect blend of joy and angst!  It was just what readers will need to feel the Christmas Spirit and has me looking forward to what Ms. James will craft next!

My rating for this is an A.

Sitting in a Michigan recording studio with him, singing lyrics he wrote about her, is a special kind of torture. The only thing more frustrating might be the producer’s assistant who radiates sunshine and has more motivational quotes than a greeting card company.
Cerys
Love rocks.
Heavy guitars, a voice with the burn of pure single malt, and lyrics that distil the meaning of love are the greatest things.
If only the man singing didn’t have a temperament as foul as the Michigan winter. Jase sitting in her car while yelling at her to get him out of there is a surprise. Why she hits the accelerator and takes him to her father’s cabin on the lake is an even greater mystery.
How was she supposed to know they’d end up snowed in for days? Or that when they got out again, their relationship, and her views on love, would be changed irrevocably?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After events in the first installment in the Excess All Areas series I couldn't wait to see what happened next, from the future of the brash and troubled Jace to the future of the band Sad Fridays.  Picking up right after those events, readers will find themselves quickly captivated by this story and drawn to a hero who's not what he seems and a heroine who totally redeems the hero while making a place for herself in reader's hearts. In a book that is both sweet and sexy, yet full of angst, readers will find a cast of characters that will have you coming back for more as you wait in breathless anticipation for the next installment.

The start of this book has Jase in a bad place.  He's had a falling out with his band just as they're at the cusp of fame, not talking to his bandmates or brother over all the pain and anger he's created.  The band's future is tied to him though, which means them all finding some way to work together...a way that ultimately leads to a snowed-in lake house and a woman with a bright and happy soul who helps Jase heal.  Jase was an arrogant jerk in the first installment, an angry man hurt and betrayed by his past who often sabotaged his future through drugs, random hook-ups, and hurting everyone around him.  He's been weighed down by this pain for a long time and it was inevitable that everything would come to a head...and that's what happened at the end of the previous installment.  This book finds him focused on the music, working with the daughter of a famous producer, both in the studio and in an isolated cabin where things take a more personal turn.  Jase was hard to like throughout a lot of the previous book, but it was clear that he was full of demons. This book gives greater insight into Jase's past, humanizes him and makes him more sympathetic.  With each turn of the page I really came to like him, found him to be an endearing man with a hidden heart of gold. In the previous book, his behavior was hurting himself, but here he learns to like himself and that's through the eyes of the sweet and bubbly Cerys.  Cerys was an unforgettable heroine, a wonderful one with a big, kind, heart.  She often focused on the positive, saw the good in others first, all with her own daddy issues weighing on her that had my heart aching for her.  Her kindness definitely wasn't a weakness though as she gave as good as she got with Jase in a sweet and sensual pairing that crackled from the very start.

This was an emotionally intense rollercoaster ride of a romance between two apparent opposites set in the rockstar world in a book that immediately picks up where the previous tale ended.  Though this book can be read on its own, you'll miss a lot of the character nuances, miss the history warring between them to see how far they come in this book of putting the past truly behind you to make a future.  This couple is a perfectly imperfect one and I enjoyed seeing them evolve in each other's company. There were sweet along with sizzling moments between them and their growing connection kept me glued to the pages.  Along with a compelling main couple, readers get to again see the band members of Sad Fridays, seeing how Jase's past and his current evolution affects their future on the music charts and in their personal lives. These interactions are realistic and not yet entirely settled as there's years of hurt feelings to work through.  Aiding them in moving on from their pasts is the ever-funny and outspoken Nan, the grandma I hope to be when I grow up.  On a whole I look forward to revisiting this world, seeing where things go next as Luke takes center stage following the tempting epilogue Ms. Cole crafted here.

My rating for this is an A.

AUTHOR INFO:

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.
I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I'm getting the chance to follow that dream.
