Book Release Blast for Protective Heart by Brighton Walsh (REVIEW)…..

From the first page to the last this was a book of utter delights, a friends to roommates to lovers to something even more that warmed my heart and made me smile.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Protective Heart by Brighton Walsh, along with my impressions of it, which will have you wanting to add this second installment in the Starlight Cove series to your bookshelf!

I’ve lied to myself for years about being in love with my best friend.
Everly Bowman and I don’t make sense. She’s sunshine personified and I hate everyone. Well, everyone but her. It’s been easy to keep up the farce and pretend like she isn’t my whole world. Or it was until she needs a place to stay, and my apartment is her only option.
Suddenly, she's everywhere I turn. Even her scent is branded into my sheets. And thanks to our unofficial romance book club, I’ve also amassed an encyclopedia titled Everly’s Pleasure Buttons. Each week, it gets harder to ignore how much I want to make her fantasies come true. Especially when we crawl into my bed every night.
But I won’t jeopardize what we have for anything, so I’m fine with lying to myself and pretending like I don’t dream of calling her mine.
At least, I was until I see her with him.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I picked up this book I was in my happy place with themes that are among my favorites.  I absolutely adore romances of friends to lovers, of roommates to lovers, with interactions that crackle...and this book definitely delivers all that and more! As these two apparent opposites spend more and more time together readers will find themselves captivated by the delightful romance slowly but surely building between them, while rooting them on every step of the way.

Everly is a breath of fresh air who brings happiness to everyone around her.  She's a truly good soul and I wished nothing but good for her.  She's not the kind of person to make herself happy though, constantly pushed by her parents to live life as they want her to.  When she finally has the chance to make herself happy I couldn't have been more delighted and cheered her on as she and Beck took their connection to the next level.

Beck's described as grumpy but I found him endearing and the quintessential book boyfriend, a man with a sweet and cuddly underbelly.  He might be a bit standoffish, careful around others, but when it comes to Everly he's ready to do whatever she asks of him.  He's protective of her, watches over her like a sexy Guardian Angel, and is her very willing companion when it comes to her romance book club.  Add in his talent for dirty talk and you have a darn near perfect hero!

This book was a carefree read with a delightful romance and very little angst.  The main couple were a wonderful pairing who slowly accepted what others knew all along...that they were meant to be together.  The romance between Beck and Everly was sweet and sexy with crackling banter both in and out of the bedroom that made them believable as both friends and lovers.  Surrounding this immensely appealing main couple were an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, among them Beck's family with their playful banter and Everly's dog who was the cherry to this romantic sundae.  With each turn of the page I fell more and more in love with these characters, and the town of Starlight Cove, and with the thoroughly enticing ending with Ford I'm left waiting with bated breath for a return to this world.

My rating for this is an A.

AUTHOR INFO:

Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.

Book Release Blitz for Silent Chaos by Nikki Ash (REVIEW)…..

A painful end to young love is just the beginning of this epic love story set in the rockstar world, a world where love and hate are blurred.  Keep reading to get a tempting glimpse of Silent Chaos by Nikki Ash, along with my impressions of it, then be sure to add this second installment in the Love & Lyrics series to your bookshelf!

From USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Ash comes a hate to lovers, second chance, rock star romance.
Braxton
Our senior year, I promised my girl forever.
Forever, as it turned out, wasn't enough. She told me so in her actions. When she took a match to my life, burning it to ash.
I headed to LA with my band—Raging Chaos—like we always planned, while Kaylee went to college, taking my damaged heart with her.
This was where our story was supposed to end.
Only six years later, our lives collide again.
Kaylee is the only thing I ever loved more than music, and I wish I could hate her for it, but the line between love and hate is thin, and often straddled.
And the thing about collisions? They result in deadly debris.
Kaylee
When you love someone, you let them go. But what I did was so much worse.
Because instead of pushing him away, I shoved Braxton straight over the edge.
I’ve spent the past several years avoiding him, trying to make things right.
When my reputation has been dragged through the mud, and I’m given the opportunity to clean it up, I have no choice but to cross paths with him again.
Being around Braxton is a harsh reminder of the way I lit his life up in flames, but I'm not sure he knows I've been burned, too.
If suffering in silence is the cost, I'll pay the price to make things right.
I just hope our history won’t play on repeat and he’ll see me as more than the stupid girl with the lit match.
***AUTHOR’S NOTE: Like real life, the characters are far from perfect, make morally gray decisions, and deal with subjects that may be sensitive for some readers. If you are looking for a safe romance, this series is not for you. Trigger warnings (which contain spoilers) can be found on my website.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After reading the first book in the Love & Lyrics series I knew this story would be intense...and boy, was it one heckuva intense tale!  Braxton and Kaylee's story is told from the past and the present, a bumpy journey full of hurts that left lots of scars on both of them and that held me enthralled through each turn of the page.

Braxton once thought that he and Kaylee were meant to be together forever, until his heart and his plans for the future were stomped on.  Six years later, with fame and fortune his constant companion, he's reunited with Kaylee and the anger that never went away.  He wants to hate her, wants to hurt her still, but deep down is the man who still loves her as seen by the strong and protective side that emerges as they spend more and more time together.  Kaylee too feels awkward around Braxton, angry at herself for what broke them apart.  But there were times where her self-hatred became a bit much, especially once the truth about what broke them apart is revealed.  It's an ugly truth and it had me all the more sympathetic over all the lost years of love between her and Braxton that she missed out on.

These two are definitely hurting when readers first meet them and through numerous unexpected twists and turns these two slowly find their way back to each other.  It's a bumpy journey though, one that had me hurting right alongside them, especially after seeing the beautiful start to their romance years ago.  The start to their romance was lovingly depicted which made for a strong foundation that crushed my heart once their love crumbled.  That foundation gave me hope though which was ultimately rewarded as their sizzling encounters brought their love back to life in a flame that burned bright.

Alongside this angsty couple readers get glimpses of the other members of Raging Chaos.  We get to see the growing connection between Camden and Layla, them making their romance work within the pressures of the rockstar world, which warmed my heart after the rocky journey they went through.  Seeing bandmates Declan and Gage gave a feeling of family to this story too as they're a strong support to one another throughout the book.  Declan and Gage have their own issues they're dealing with though and their journeys promise to be heartbreaking.  For Declan it's unrequited love while for Gage it's unrelenting guilt and the use of drugs to numb the pain.  With the epilogue Ms. Ash left readers with here I already have the tissues ready and waiting for the next installment in this unforgettable series!

My rating for this is an A-

Back in the Bronze Age, Angus McCraggan sacrificed his life to break the Celtic curse laid on his kind. He failed. Millennia later, he returns to modern Ireland to find his people have become feral, vengeful shadows. With his hollow hill now packed with tourists, he uses his power to keep his past hidden.
Until an American calls him out.
Since a banshee attacked her as a teen, Erin De Santos has been tormented by dreams of a boy she’s never met. Armed with a new identity, she returns to the Emerald Isle determined to face her nightmare. But her discovery turns fatal.
When the banshee strikes again, Angus surrenders his heart—and his hope of freeing his people—to save her. With his life now hers and his curse descending, Erin must make a terrible choice: kill her savior or share his doom.

EXCERPT:

“Angus...” She stalled at the rise and dip of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed hard at her use of his first name. Addictive holding that sort of power over a person. Addictive and terrifying. She wet her lips to buy her time and his eyes tracked her tongue, his pupils becoming black pools rimmed by the faintest line of blue.
“Angus, I’m better at running than staying. I won’t be good at this.” She grimaced, wishing she knew how to ask for his understanding. “No one’s ever needed me before.”
“Come here to me, Erin.”

An order not a request. Leaning forward to close the space between them, she ran her hands from his shoulders to the tight, straining cords of his neck. His skin was smooth and cool, twitching under her touch. He lifted his head to stare at her through heavy lids, the movement making his thick, black hair drift across her knuckles. Then he put his hands to her waist and pulled her down into his embrace, until they kneeled knee-to-knee. He traced around her forehead with his fingertips to slide a line of her hair behind her ear, his touch sending hot darts along her nerves. His beard stubble scratched her cheek as he put his lips to her ear.
“Let me give you a reason to return to me, Erin, mo chroí. Éirinn go brách.” Erin, my heart. Erin, forever.
Her eyes rolled back as his voice smoked through her. He kissed her neck and her pulse rocketed straight into the stratosphere while any muscle tone she might’ve had rendered into gloop. In case she somehow misinterpreted his offer, his hands scoped around her hips to rest possessively on her buttocks.
Her skin burned beneath his touch.

Book Blast for Bentley by Megan Slayer (GIVEAWAY)…..

The fates, a bit of magic, and a determined woman all combine to entertain readers with this erotically-charged paranormal romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Bentley by Megan Slayer, then learn even more about this book by visiting the other sites hosting this tour.  In honor of this third installment in the Summon a Bad Boy series, fill out the form below for the chance to win a special prize pack with a necklace handcrafted by Ms. Slayer too!

I call on the fates to bring my love to me. As I will it, so mote it be...
Natalie Harvey wants a guy who not only understands baseball, but supports her love of the game. When she meets bad-boy first baseman for the Cougars, Bentley Turner, she can’t help but fall for him. He’s sexy, strong, athletic and irresistible. He’s her perfect man, but what if he’s not interested? The spark is there, and she decides to invoke the spell. Why not?
She’s ready to summon her very own bad boy and try her luck with love.

EXCERPT:

Of the many things she liked about having a minor league team so close was the ample parking. She never had to walk more than a few hundred yards, and the lot was well-lit. She locked her car and hustled up to the ticket window. Once she showed her credentials and ticket, she gained entrance to the facility.
Natalie strode over to the first-base side and located her seat. When she was on the clock, she liked to sit right at the edge of the field to better take in the action. Since she wasn’t working, she’d sit four rows up and simply enjoy the game.
She loved the atmosphere of a ballgame. The sounds of the crowd, the smell of the food, the excitement in the air. The Cougars scored quickly in the second inning, and she made a few notes on her phone. The sensation at second base, Dalton Cohn, had made three great catches and even managed two double plays with the first baseman, Bentley Turner.
Natalie watched Bentley Turner in action and couldn’t help but sigh. He had a temper at times, looked like he’d stepped out of a bar, and could swear a blue streak, but he moved with grace and had skills on the field. If he hadn’t injured his shoulder defending first base last season, he’d still be in the majors and probably racking up good stats. Instead, he’d been relegated to the minor leagues to rehab. She’d spoken to him a few times and loved the deep blue of his eyes and his easy smile. He could be cocky and pushy. Rumor had it he’d bedded women in every city and left a string of broken hearts in his wake. It could all be rumors, but...

Book Review for Controlled Chaos by Nikki Ash……

Camden
I’ve been in love with my best friend since high school.
My biggest regret? Walking away without telling her.
I planned to. But then catastrophe struck, making us part ways without a word.
She left for Boston with her fiancé, while I left for L.A. with my band–Raging Chaos.
For the next five years, I lived and breathed music, trying to forget the beautiful girl who shattered my heart without even knowing it.
Until I see her again…
I walked away once, and I've learned my lesson.
Layla is my forever, not another item in my pile of regrets.
And she's about to find that out.
Layla
The moment I saw Camden on stage, something inside me came to life.
His tragic song of unrequited love was a confession that had me questioning everything.
Five years might’ve changed who we are—he’s a rock star and I’m a single mom—but my feelings for him are as strong as ever.
His lyrics make falling in love seem easy. For him—maybe it is.
Only I’ve learned the hard way that real life isn’t as simple as writing a love song.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Wow!  What an emotionally draining read this was...but in a good way!  My love of rockstar romances continues with this first installment in the Love & Lyrics series and with each turn of the page I look forward to what comes next while gobbling this one up as an unrequited love finds its HEA.

Camden and Layla met as teens, becoming neighbors and best friends, but for Camden there was more as he fell completely in love with Layla.  Her having a boyfriend, and fear over ruining a beautiful friendship, kept him from admitting the truth though.  Add in another tragedy and before long these two went their separate ways towards their next stages of life...all without the truth of his feelings coming out.  Camden went on to fame and fortune as a rockstar while she went to college, got married, and became mom to the adorable Felix.  While Camden seemed to be living his best life there was always something missing, words and lyrics that constantly poured out of him declaring his unrequited love for Layla.  When fate brings them back together he makes the most of their second chance but it's a bumpy journey as Layla's been bruised and battered by the life she chose.  This leads to a slow and steady reunion that had me fall more and more in love with Camden because of his patience, his sweet and sexy nature, and his endearing interactions with Felix (a definite bright spot in the story) that made this such a richly rewarding romance.

Camden's a delicious hero, a rockstar who (surprisingly) hasn't let fame go to his head. He's been patiently waiting for Layla and once they're reunited he continues to be patient with her, protective and loving, and everything you want your book boyfriend to be!  Layla's life definitely didn't go as she hoped it would, married to an abusive man who becomes increasingly violent before one final act has her finally starting over without him.  Through it all Layla's a strong-willed heroine whose abusive marriage was depicted realistically and reading of her hurts hurt me too.  The scenes depicted were gritty and heartbreaking and it had me rooting for her to start anew.  There was a feeling of joy once Layla and Camden found their way back to each other, a feeling of rightness, that warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye.  Surrounding this newfound family in the making are the rest of the members of Raging Chaos, young men with lots of baggage weighing them down as they've let fame consume them.  The time spent with Braxton, Declan, and Gage has left me dying for more from these perfectly imperfect rockstars and it's with breathless anticipation that I'm counting down the days until the next installment in Ms. Ash's angsty series!

My rating for this is an A.

Book Release Blast for Tysin by Brooke O'Brien (REVIEW)……

A forbidden romance from the past once again burns bright in this angsty tale of second chances set in the rockstar world.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Tysin by Brooke O'Brien, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this second installment in A Rebels Havoc series to your bookshelf!

Tysin Briggs is a player. He's cocky, selfish, and sexy as sin. I've heard the rumors, and it's no secret, he's just as talented in the bedroom as he is on the guitar.
As the lead guitarist for A Rebels Havoc, and my brother's best friend, Tysin has heartbreak written all over him. We were asking for trouble sneaking around behind my brother’s back. It still didn’t stop me from spending the summer with him or from falling in love with him.
Two years have passed since he destroyed my heart, crushing it into a million pieces. A lot has changed since then, including the ring on my finger. When my brother asks for my help filling in as the manager of their sold-out tour, it's an opportunity I can't refuse.
I should’ve known the past wouldn’t stay in the past.
But what I didn’t count on was how hard it would be to resist him.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rockstar romances I find myself never getting enough.  I revel in each new book being released, chewing at the bit for each new book set in the rockstar world to hit my iPad.  This second installment in A Rebels Havoc series brought out a slew of emotions in me as I frantically gobbled up each and every page.  By the turn of the last page I'm left wrung out, yet satisfied, by the angsty and hard-fought journey to HEA this appealing couple took us on.

Tysin Briggs is the typical rockstar, oozing confidence and sex appeal.  He's drool-worthy with an air of cockiness surrounding him, an attitude that keeps him from committing to any one woman.  There once was a time though where he did give himself to another...his best friend's little sister.  Past pains, and heartbreaking words and deeds, ended what was just beginning between them but fate has brought them back together again with the spark of love slowly reigniting.  Tysin's a bit rough around the edges, a bit hard to like early on, but there was still something about him that called to me.  And with each turn of the page, with each layer of what makes Tysin the man he is revealed, it became obvious why I was drawn to him.  To the world he was self-assured, but his past was one that beat him down emotionally, made him feel unworthy of love and walking away before getting left behind.  His past led him to making poor decisions and hurting others out of fear of getting hurt himself, making him look like a jerk, but in reality he's just a scared little boy in a sexy man's body.  He has a lot of love to give and as the story progresses he finally decides to fight for what he wants...knowing that he can no longer live without Kyla as he makes the most of his second chance.

Kyla once thought Tysin was her everything, after an unforgettable summer fling, but it's been two years since their relationship imploded and she's definitely moved on...as seen by the ring on her finger and the fiancée on her arm.  Her brother needing her help while his band's on tour puts her in close quarters with Tysin once again though and has them dealing with past pain and hard truths that changes both of them (and their futures) irrevocably.  Kyla's an immensely likable heroine, one who's strong and sassy, one who gives as good as she gets.  She's had her own painful past, one she dealt with on her own that had my heart breaking for her.  Despite having to be around the man who broke her heart, Kyla shows herself to be a loyal sister and friend by joining the tour. She's a strong support to everyone, fitting right in like a member of this handmade family.

In a story full of angst, a bit of steam, and a lot of heart, readers will find themselves utterly captivated. Emotional buttons will be pushed, tissues will be needed, as each page is turned in this richly rewarding second chance romance.  It's a gritty world readers find themselves in, the rockstar lifestyle on vivid display.  Tysin's a deliciously flawed hero, one you can't help but be drawn to through all his good and bad moments. Kyla's a great heroine, one who made the hero better, in a connection full of heart and soul.  The secondary characters (the bandmates) made this story even richer, added a familial layer to the story and gave enticing glimpses of stories yet to come.  On a whole, fans of rockstar romances will find much to like about this book and it's one that I definitely recommend!

My rating for this is an A.

Lucas Carson and Simone Hensley were once in love, tightly bound together before her brother Aiden and he were deployed to Afghanistan and everything turned bad for the young couple.  War is hell at times and it left Lucas and Aiden with PTSD...seemingly leading to Aiden's suicide and years of Lucas and Simone not talking.  Her returning home to care for her injured grandmother though leads to her reuniting with Lucas at a time when he needs her help most...when he's been framed for a crime he didn't commit. Just as he needs her to convey an image of a responsible family man, she needs him for the same to get her online business off the ground which leads to a fake relationship that slowly turns oh so real once again.  Theirs is a bumpy journey to HEA, one that has them addressing their painful pasts in an attempt to move forward.  The issues dealt with here are realistic and a big part of today's culture.  The fallout from these issues was heartbreaking, led to years of loneliness, and I hurt alongside this couple as they talked through their pasts to find healing.  The mystery surrounding the crime Lucas is accused of is intriguing, the guilty party well-disguised, and the REAL reason behind it surprisingly connected to the past in a storyline that kept me frantically turning the pages.

On a whole this was an immensely satisfying series starter with a very likable main couple who get put through the wringer to reach their HEA.  The mystery and suspense was fresh and well-crafted with a nicely balanced romance that was sweet and sensual. The secondary characters were also strong with delightful and supportive banter between the brothers.  Those looking for a well-rounded read will definitely want to add this one to their bookshelf while waiting to see where life takes these brothers next!

My rating for this is an A.
