MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After reading the two previous installments in the Chord Brothers series I knew I couldn’t let this one pass me by and even though it wasn’t a perfect read it was satisfying.  Courtesy of a romantic and charming hero who’s overcome a painful past, secondary characters who left a big mark, and reintroductions of couples from the previous books, this book quickly immersed me in the world of music that these brothers are making their own and has me counting down the days until the next installment arrives.

Cole Chord’s world imploded seventeen years ago with the rape and murder of their sister.  The guilt of that night weighed on him and ultimately drove him to burying his pain under a haze of drugs.  He’s been clean for years now, remade his life into something successful, and is ready to start his own band.  He lives a comfortable life due to his realty company, but music is what truly feeds his soul and is what brings him together with TJ.  She may come from a working class family, but he senses from the very start that they’re meant to be and does all he can to convince her of it.  Their journey together doesn’t go smoothly though as her preconceived notions, and a big misunderstanding, cause a few speed bumps along the way in a frustrating road to HEA.  Through it all Cole’s a kindhearted hero willing to spend any amount of money to make things easier for others.  He’s a strong support to his family, and to his bandmates, and I was rooting for him from the very first as he deserved a bit of happiness after all he’s gone through.

TJ Casarez is an admirable heroine with a love of family, a strong work ethic, and a tendency to be the dutiful daughter.  Her family means a lot to her but they use her familial obligations to keep her doing what THEY want, instead of her going after her own dreams.  Her dream is to play drums for a living and when her cousin Spider invites her to audition for the new band he just joined it will change her life irrevocably.  She becomes more empowered behind her drum kit, comes out of her shell to start going after everything she wants...including sexy lead singer Cole.  After a bruising past relationship she might at first see him as only a little rich boy, but the more they connect the more good things she sees in him, and the more protective he becomes when in her presence.  Behind the drums she becomes a bit of a badass, becomes a commanding presence who owns the stage.  She wasn’t a perfect heroine though as her past experiences with her father’s addiction caused VERY FRUSTRATING moments late in the story and it had me wanting to shake her for her close mindedness.  I wish that she had stood up to her family more often, and earlier on too, as she tented to go quiet and run when things got difficult.

From the first page to the last I found this an entertaining read with a compelling hero and a larger than life cast of secondary characters.  I enjoyed the slow burn between Cole and TJ, enjoyed watching him subtly woo her through his tender and romantic words and deeds.  Their scorching encounters were well worth the wait and I enjoyed seeing TJ take charge in many of these steamy scenes.  Alongside this entertaining main couple were the other members of Phoenix Rising...Spider and Tremor.  Spider is TJ’s cousin and there’s a definite vibe of danger surrounding him.  He’s quick to anger, very touchy when it comes to sexuality, and is very protective of TJ almost to the point of smothering.  The characteristics of his ethnicity were a bit too stereotypical at times, but I still appreciate Ms. Roberts crafting such an intriguing character that I hope to see more of in the future.  Tremor too is unforgettable, a giant of a man with a booming voice and a tendency to push people’s buttons.  He and Spider have numerous combustible encounters which will leave readers wondering about their connection.  Their scenes together sizzle and teem with sexual tension. When it comes to sex Tremor is clearly embracing that part of the rockstar lifestyle, flitting from women of varying ages to couples, and his hedonistic side is one he displays proudly...along with a bold and eclectic clothing style.  He certainly left a lasting impression on me and I look forward to seeing more about this character and what’s hiding behind his larger than life actions.  Seeing past couples rounded out this story beautifully and I enjoyed seeing their HEAs continue, loved seeing these families and friends support each other so strongly.  While there was a bit of roughness regarding the narrative, a bit of frustration over the heroine’s actions, and a storyline about an embezzler in Cole’s company that came out of nowhere, I still found this a satisfying tale that has me counting down the days until the next installment in this series hits bookshelves.

My rating for this is a B-

Book Tour for Addictive Alessandro by Anne Marie Citro (Review & GIVEAWAY)

Readers will be drawn to this tale of loss as two people find a healing balm in each other’s arms, a connection that doesn’t always go smoothly.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Addictive Alessandro by Anne Marie Citro, along with my impressions of it, then add this book to your shelves.  In honor of this third installment in the Savage's Buck & Doe series make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a $15 Amazon GC too!

Alessandro Savage walked through the same maze of streets in the French Quarter that he had walked for the last few months. He carried two things: his guitar case and a bottle of Jack. Months of self-induced punishment, wandering lost, looking for redemption. At least, that was the lie he told himself. It should have been him who died that fateful night the music had died in the Las Vegas massacre. He could never have absolution, because he had committed a crime unforgivable to those he loved.
Family was everything to the Savage brothers. Alessandro had broken that sacred bond when he had killed his oldest brother. He hadn’t been the one to pull the trigger, but he was as guilty as the man who had. This was why he needed to get drunk every day to numb the pain. He couldn’t deal with not being able to go back to the past and make things right.
Ava Lombardi hated bachelorette parties and her cousin’s was going to be extremely painful. She was spending four days at Savage’s Buck & Doe Resort. Ava was a beautiful loner who had the ability to help the Savage family find Alessandro but didn’t want to get involved.
Getting Alessandro home was only half of the battle the other would be helping him to become clean and sober and stay that way. Ava had closed herself off years ago but not all ghosts were left better in the past.
Not all rehabilitation opposed to addiction were about abstinence. Could two souls that lost redemption find peace in each other’s arms? Would Ava be the one addiction Alessandro couldn’t beat?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With all the losses we’ve experienced over the last few years, from mass shootings to a deadly pandemic, this is a story that will definitely resonate for readers.  It’s a timely tale with a strong sense of family that will quickly immerse readers into one family’s grief as a guilt-ridden man finds love from a stranger a healing balm.  Through all its emotional highs and lows reader’s heartstrings will be pulled in every direction which ultimately leads to a triumphant ending and an immensely satisfying HEA.

Alessandro Savage is a broken man at the start of this story, weighed down by guilt over something beyond his control.  He can’t see the truth through his pain though and he’s on a destructive path of alcohol and drug addiction and it broke my heart to see him fall so low.  It’s a heavy issue that the author deals with realistically and with respect, and they don’t pull any punches.  It’s a difficult journey for everyone involved, both for Alessandro and for his family.  From the very first page his family is the kind we all wish we had and I was drawn to each member and their perfect imperfections.  They’re a tight-knit group and when one hurts they all hurt.  The Savage family has already had to deal with the loss of their patriarch and their oldest child, so Alessandro’s vanishing is adding even more pain and worry.  They’ve become desperate to find him and the new guest at their wedding resort could be the answer to their prayers.  I adored the Savage family!  I love their strength, their support, and their love is what fuels this story.  Knowing how much support he has at home had me frustrated a time or two by Alessandro.  Knowing how forgiving and loving they are, how much they want to wrap him in their blanket of love, had me hoping for one moment of clarity to take him home.

Ava Lombardi is a formidable heroine, brash and outspoken, larger than life and is just who Alessandro needs to heal.  Whereas Alessandro’s family is loving and supportive, Ava’s ignores her and treats her as a pariah.  Her unique abilities have them treating her as something obscene and it broke my heart as there were times when she herself chose to fade into the background.  Alessandro’s family treated her like one of their own, once they realized she could find him, and it warmed my heart that they brought her into the family fold wholeheartedly. Ava’s abilities are dealt with in a casual manner, even though this bit of paranormal felt slightly out of place at times.  Her interactions with the Savage family were warm while her interludes with Alessandro sizzled. There was rockiness though too as she stood by him while he dealt with his addictions, presenting hard truths as well as secrets.

On a whole this was a satisfying story with a bit of grit along with moments of sweetness.  The main couple are a compelling pair with a journey that pulled at my heartstrings and had me rooting for them every step of the way.  Along with a likable main couple there was a family that I was drawn to and it was their love and support that drove this story.  It was the Savage’s love that gave Alessandro a soft place to land and gave Ava a home she so richly deserved.  The matriarch of the family, Valentina, is especially wonderful as her unwavering support and strong beliefs in her children made me smile.  She’s one mama bear you don’t want to argue with.  While watching her children find HEAs there’s glimpses of her finding a spark of her own with another and I look forward to where things go to next for her.  Readers drawn to strong families, broken heroes, and a gritty narrative will want to add this book to their shelves while grabbing the previous installments in this series to see where the Savage family started to celebrate where they are today.

My rating is a B+

The moment I met Levi Reed, I knew he was trouble.
Dark, sexy, and a musician to boot.
As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t stay away.
Raina Adams stood across for me that rainy night, the night that defined my life.
Something inside me shifted and inspiration filled my empty soul.
I wanted her, a pull so strong I couldn’t ignore.

EXCERPT:

Once inside, Raina giggles in my ear and pulls on my arm. “Um, what? What kind of connections do you have, mister?”
I flash her a wink and lead her down the hall and to the right. “When you want something bad enough, you find a way to make it happen.”
“Okay, but in the art building?”
“Yep.” We round the corner, and I stop at the first classroom on our left. When I open the door, the room illuminates with soft light, and I hear Raina gasp.
“No way,” she says as she moves in front of me, walking toward the piano with a look of awe on her face. “How? Where? What?”
I chuckle as I watch her sputter to herself and run straight for the bench. She slides all the way over and pats the seat next to her. I sit down, moving close so that our legs touch.
Raina runs her fingers over the keys with a goofy smile on her lips. “How did you make this happen?”
I hook one finger under her chin and turn her head to face me. My eyes drop down to her mouth, and I want to taste her. Need to taste her. “I have my ways,” I whisper before taking her mouth with mine. Pushing my tongue inside, I glide it along hers. The kiss grows heady, all hands, mouths, and teeth, but I pull away before I go too far.
I didn’t bring her here to make out with her. As much as I want to, there’s time for that later. I kiss her lightly and adjust myself in my pants, hoping she doesn’t notice.
Too late.
She grins, and I find her watching me. Her tongue darts out and licks her lips, and I almost say fuck it all and take her right here on the floor.
Focus.
Fuck, she’s gorgeous.
Focus.
Fuck, I’m horny.
“You drive me crazy, girl, but I’m loving every second.” Raina’s long lashes flutter upward, and when her eyes meet mine, my heart pounds so hard, it feels like my ribs will break.
“Me too. Now, teach me some piano.”
I laugh and playfully bite her neck, which causes her to break into a fit of giggles. “Okay, okay. Do you know any of the keys?”
Raina shakes her head. “Uh, no, not really?”
She’s adorable. I can’t get enough of her laughter mixed with her sweet voice, and her cute jokes. “Let’s start with the basics.”
An hour later, Raina has most of the keys memorized. She’s a quick learner, but she loses focus easily. It doesn’t help when I can’t control my need to kiss her neck.
We laugh and joke, tickle each other and play around. I play her a couple of songs, the feel of her next to me fueling my musical soul.
“I want to learn those songs. They’re beautiful,” She looks at me with wide eyes, and I lean down and kiss her softly.
“I’ll teach you whatever you want. But I have one question for you.”
She nudges my shoulder as I finish the last notes of the song. “Yes?”
My stomach’s full of knots. I’ve wanted to ask her all week, but I was afraid she’d say no. The past six weeks of knowing her have been amazing.
“Will you please be my girl?” I watch her as I wait for her answer.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The love of music is on display in this book that will grab you from the very first page to its ending that leaves you longing for more.  Along the way readers will find themselves on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, a journey full of heartbreak and harsh reality as an immensely appealing main couple struggles to find themselves and their HEA.

Set in the college world, where everything seems possible, Raina and Levi make an instant connection.  Their mutual love of music and lyrics binds them together in a beautiful story that ultimately brings Levi’s broken psyche to the forefront.  As the story progresses things take unexpected twists and turns, captivating readers while putting them through the emotional wringer alongside the main couple.  The romance between these two grows steadily from their unforgettable first meeting, turns sweet and sensual, but with the weight of his past and future on him Levi has them taking a damaging turn.  Readers will ache over what comes next but I applaud Raina (and the author) for the hard decision made, a decision that will leave readers on the edge of their seats.

Raina’s a wonderful heroine, easy to relate to, and I loved seeing her joy in getting to experience all that New York has to offer.  She quickly immersed herself in the exciting big city culture and it added to my delight of her interactions with her friend Mable, which were reminiscent of my own college years.  She’s a strong-willed young woman who’s a strong support to Levi from the moment they meet in a crackling connection that had me rooting for them every step of the way.  She can only support him so much though before she’ll end up broken herself.  To truly prove her love she’ll have to make a heartbreaking decision that brought a tear to my eye but made their romance even more believable.  Levi’s a very likable hero who longs to make music for a living.  He’s had a difficult past and is determined to do better this year in school than last year.  Meeting Raina seems like a good start to the new school year and together things seem perfect.  It’s not long though before his past and his band’s burgeoning success starts to bring him down.  All the pain from his past comes to rest on his shoulders and it’s not long before the alcohol starts to ruin the connection he has to Raina, before she has to make a very tough decision that will change everything for them.  I was drawn to Levi from the very start, drawn to his perfectly imperfect personality, and all I wanted to do was hug him.  I was often left with a tear in my eye, but I appreciated this story for its realism in handling such a serious topic which is still in my thoughts.

This book is an unforgettable beginning to this couple’s story, an angsty and romantic tale that pulled at my heartstrings and kept me frantically turning the pages to see where things would go for them next.  It was an emotional rollercoaster ride from the first page to the last and I was captivated by each low and every high and rooted for this couple even though I sensed things wouldn’t end as I’d hoped.  Those who dislike cliffhangers will be frustrated by the ending of this story, but the narrative and characters are well-worth any frustrations you may have by the end as this is an epic love story.  Though my heart’s a bit bruised right now, I’m definitely counting down the days until the next installment in this series hits bookshelves with an ending that I KNOW will have made all the angst worthwhile!

My rating for this is an A.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Readers looking for a bit of afternoon delight will get just that with this erotically-charged tale that also put an occasional smile on my face. Add in some playfulness between the main couple, a bit of heart and soul, and readers will feel oh so satisfied by The End.  Though this book stands strongly on its own this series revolves around siblings out to find their HEAs in this next installment in the Love in the Apple series and with each turn of the page I fell even harder for sexy Scotsman Hamish Stuart.

From his delicious brogue to his sinful looks to a personality teeming with sensuality, Hamish is the kind of hero you won’t forget about anytime soon.  Hamish is a real romantic, a man who believes in insta-love (as seen during his initial meeting with an angry woman), and who longs to pamper the woman who’s unexpectedly captured his heart. He’s drawn to Audra the moment he learns about her background, drawn to her sass, and drawn to strong will in overcoming adversity.  All he wants is to make life easier for her...and fixing her hellish hairdo is the first step in their burgeoning relationship.  Hamish knows how to make a woman feel good and it led to many scorching interludes during her hair appointment and during his other encounters with her.  He’s a master at dirty talk with a talent for empowering a woman’s self-esteem.  From the first page to the last he quickly proved himself to be the quintessential book boyfriend and was the highlight of this story.

Audra Harrison grew up in the foster care system and still struggles to make ends meet today.  As a reward to herself for a new internship she splurges on a new hairdo at the top hair salon in New York.  It turns into a nightmare though as her hair ends up looking like an orange in a blender.  Her negative review soon catches the attention of the salon’s owner and sets her on a surprising path to HEA.  Audra’s a likable heroine, one who stands up for herself when she knows she’s right. Though life’s been tough for her she’s never asked for help and I admired her for that.  She has a funny and supportive friend/roommate who’s an admirable partner in crime and I enjoyed their very believable friendship.  I also enjoyed the sizzling connection between her and Hamish.  They were sweet and sexy together and I rooted for him to win her over every step of the way.  When it comes to matters of the heart though Audra was far less self-assured which frustrated me at times.  Hamish proved his devotion to her from the start so her doubts and ignoring his texts were a huge disservice to this near-perfect hero.

On a whole Audra was a likable heroine, but her fears frustrated me at times.  Hamish earned his place in her heart though and by the end she too realized it in this quick read full of scorching interludes and overtly sweet and sensual actions.  The story had a nice pace, appealing characters, but there was a roughness to the writing.  There was a rough around the edges feel to the dialogue that gave me a few mental speed bumps along the way.  Despite that this was still an enjoyable romance that has me wanting to read the other books in the series too!

My rating for this is a B.

Book Cover Reveal for The Rivals by Vi Keeland....

It’s a fiery romance between two business rivals whose families have been at war since before they were born in this combustible tale of enemies to lovers.  Keep reading to get a tempting glimpse of The Rivals by Vi Keeland, then start counting down the days until this book hits shelves on July 13th!

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar.
Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born.
Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day—when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.
The two men spent years fighting over Grace Copeland, who also happened to be their third business partner. But in the end, neither man could steal half of her heart away from the other. Eventually, they all went their separate ways. Our grandfathers married other women, and the two men became one of the biggest business rivals in history.
Our fathers continued the family tradition of feuding. And then Weston and I did, too.
For the most part, we kept as much distance as possible.
Until the day the woman who started the feud died—and unexpectedly left one of the most valuable hotels in the world to our grandfathers to share.
Now I’m stuck in a hotel with the man I was born to hate, trying to unravel the mess our families inherited.
As usual, it didn’t take long for us to be at each other’s throats.
Weston Lockwood was everything I hated: tall, smart, cocky, and too gorgeous for his own good.
We were fire and ice.
But that shouldn’t be an issue. Our families were used to being at war. There was just one minor problem, though. Every time Weston and I fought, we somehow wound up in bed.

To all the world August Greenfield seems to be living life to the fullest with his globetrotting as an agent for Jameson Force Security and his scorching encounters at the Wicked Horse sex club.  While he might seem fulfilled by his lifestyle, they hide a heart that was bruised ten years ago when the love of his life left without a word.  His attempts to find her resulted in nothing but frustration and anger over her disappearance.  A knock on the door in the middle of the night though brings his past racing back to the present, bringing with it answers he’s always longed for along with a big reveal that will forever change his life.  The woman he’s never forgotten is back and it arouses all of August’s protective instincts, has him employing all his talents to keep her and her family safe.  Their second chance soon becomes an action-packed, erotically-charged, rollercoaster ride to HEA that had me frantically turning the pages towards its immensely satisfying conclusion.  From the start August is a delicious hero, hardworking and hard when playing, a man with strong loyalties.  Leighton’s return brings out all sorts of conflicting emotions in him...he’s hurt that she never contacted him before now, hurt that she kept a big secret from him, but understands why she did what she did.  Though he understands, that doesn’t keep him from sometimes saying or doing something hurtful.  He might like to keep their relationship all about sex, but it’s clear there’s meant to be more between them and as the story progresses they make their way back to each other.  The dreams they once had are finally able to come true in this scorching and sentimental story.

Ten years ago Leighton Hale dreamed of marrying August and having a family...until she and her father were dragged away in the middle of the night in order to keep them safe.  She never forgot him though, and with a life-altering disease staring her in the face, she’ll need him now more than ever.  After arriving at his door the truth she reveals to him is a heart-wrenching one, one that robbed him of time, and his early anger is understandable.  It makes for a rocky start to their reunion, but it ultimately binds them together as they stand in solidarity to make her son Sam healthy.  Leighton was young when she got taken away, forced into keeping secrets to keep her family safe.  She’s grown stronger over the years though and when Sam falls ill she thinks only about him as she races to August.  To get his help she’ll have to give up control, both in and out of the bedroom.  Doing so gives her more power than she ever imagined as August isn’t the boy he once was...he’s now a determined man who always gets what he wants.  Leighton’s a strong-willed woman, a true mama bear, a woman who still wants a HEA with August and gives as good as she gets.  Her and August scorched up the pages throughout their second chance and I enjoyed seeing them rediscover each other.

This was a fast-paced story with a perfect balance of sexiness and suspense.  I was kept on the edge of my seat, while blushing a time or two, as I gobbled up every interaction between August and Leighton.  August is a drool-worthy hero with a protective side I was drawn to and it warmed my heart to see him with Sam.  He took on the fatherly role quite well as his time with Sam felt realistic, especially with the seriousness of Sam’s health.  While he embraced his fatherly side, he didn’t hesitate in employing sensuality in his interludes with Leighton and these scenes utterly sizzled.  A scene between the two of them and his friend Declan was particularly unforgettable.  Declan Blackwood was a decadently delightful addition to the story, a rich boy living on his family’s hotel wealth.  He too embraced a hedonistic lifestyle, but showed a strong sense of loyalty too when it comes to his fledgling friendship with August.  Declan is sexy, unrepentant in his desires, and I’m left longing to know more about him and I hope his story is on the horizon.  A strong main couple, immensely appealing secondary characters (especially the endearing Sam and sexy Declan), and a captivating storyline make for yet another winner from Ms. Bennett involving two entertaining series!

My rating for this is an A-
