Readers who like their romances full of steam will find much to like about this third installment in The Wicked Horse series and its tale of a man drawn to damsels in distress and the heroine who needs saving from her low self-esteem.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing glimpse of Wicked Need by Sawyer Bennett, along with my impressions of it, and then add it to your bookshelf!

Rand Bishop’s dreams of Olympic gold were shattered years ago but he’s left that all behind, settling into a new career and lifestyle that would make any man jealous. While he may not be competitively racing down the ski slopes anymore, he’s just as happy getting his rocks off as a Fantasy Maker for The Silo.
He’s good at what he does.
Damn good.
But while life couldn’t be better for Rand, it seems to be falling apart for Catherine Lyons Vaughn, the dark haired, brown-eyed beauty that has captivated an entire sex club.
Having spent years degrading herself on her husband’s whim and now left destitute after his death, Catherine has hit rock bottom. With nothing but her body to peddle, Catherine is merely trying to figure out how to survive in a harsh, cruel world. Lucky for her, Rand has taken her under his tattooed wing, and he’s determined to give her a safe life where she can be the woman she was always meant to be.
Now all Catherine has to do is believe she deserves the chance.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The sexual freedom of the actions in The Silo is a backdrop to this romance between a man drawn to damsels in distress and a woman with self-esteem issues dealing with the fallout from her husband's death.  It's an erotically-charged tale with a near-perfect hero and an emotionally bruised heroine who are drawn to one another in a relationship that's at first based on sex but soon becomes something more meaningful.  Throw in glimpses of the other denizens of The Wild Horse and you end up with an unconventional family who are there for one another through the fantasies they enact in The Silo to the realities of the outside world.

Rand was once at the top of the skiing world until an injury has him leaving the sport behind to work at a tattoo parlor and as a fantasy maker at The Silo.  It's a job that lets him experience many different kinks and introduces him to the apparently insatiable Catherine.  He's always been drawn to her from afar but it's not until she's down on her luck that he discovers the real woman behind the picture perfect facade. From that moment on he becomes her hero in helping her get what's due her while slowly losing his heart to her too.  Rand's a wonderful hero, almost too perfect at times, as he's non-judgmental and immensely supportive.  He helps Catherine, expecting nothing in return, rebuild her self-esteem and make a life for herself that she can be proud of.  He lets her make her own choices, never pushing, but there to catch her if she falls.  He's super sexy too with a raw side to him that belies a sweet nature that has him easily proclaiming his feelings for Catherine.  He and Catherine are scorching together as they tear up the sheets in numerous erotic interludes.  In these scenes he flares his Alpha muscles one moment while in others he's comfortable letting others be in control.  It all adds up to a dreamy package of a caring hero who's sweet, supportive, and exudes sensuality.

Catherine always appeared cool and in control when her elderly husband brought her to The Silo.  He sat by watching her enact his every desire and from the outside it appeared consensual, but the reality was far more sinister.  With his death though, the harsh reality that is the life of Catherine Vaughn becomes heartbreakingly crystal clear.  Catherine grew up never knowing her father and stuck with a mother who used her every chance she could get.  At one time she saw her elderly husband as a savior but his cruelty soon rose to the surface and buried her soul beneath his depravities.  His actions have left her feeling dirty, questioning her desires, and doubting the goodness that Rand and his friends show her.  She's an emotionally scarred woman who's left uncertain as to her worth and I applaud the changes she went through with Rand's support.  She was timid at first and it was Rand giving her the push to make choices and take her life back that had her finally fighting for herself against her vile stepson. She may have started out as weak but she slowly became empowered through Rand's unwavering support.

This is a story that has lots of erotic encounters, almost too many, and I felt it took away from Rand and Catherine's romance.  Sex is what brought them together and is a big part of their relationship throughout the story.  We saw very little of them together outside this erotic context which diminished my belief in their love for one another just a bit.  Neither makes much headway in deciding what they want to do in life either, but at least they're together in being aimless and rich when it comes to their HEA.  Though their connection is mostly sexual it does result in some sweet and playful moments that had me falling even more for the immensely appealing Rand. He's a truly delicious hero, willing to do anything for the woman he proclaims to love (including a scorching encounter with Logan), that made him unforgettable.  He's just one more decadently delightful denizen of The Wicked Horse world with men who are Kings of Dirty Talk, who know how to make their partners satisfied, and the women who become empowered through their actions.  It's an erotic and sensual haze that I find myself in when reading this story and I look forward to finding out more about Logan and Bridger as their support of Rand here drew me even closer to them.  Add in a bit of suspense concerning the truth behind Catherine's elderly husband's will and you end up with a fast-paced story that unashamedly exudes sexuality while gifting readers with larger than life heroes.

My rating for this is a B.
