Love is the last thing on her mind. Commitment is something he thought he would never desire. She doesn’t know where to run. He wants her to sprint toward him.
Horrific doesn’t begin to describe the beginning of Paige Hale’s life. Choices are not something she’s ever been given. When the Nasty Bastards liberate her, she’s handed her freedom on a silver platter, but doesn’t know what to do with it.
Independence becomes an overwhelming concept. Choices become too many. Then there’s him. He wants too much. He wants everything, and she’s not sure she can give that to anyone.Country knows how to read people. After all, he was once an undercover detective, and now he’s the secretary of the Nasty Bastards MC. He can tell when someone is being genuine, when a person is scared, or when they’ve been through the depths of hell.
He knows that she is the latter. She has been through hell, but he’s bound and determined to bring her back. If she’ll only let him. If she can relinquish herself to him. If she can accept what he has to offer her...which is everything.
MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
This is a powerful book, one that captivated me from the first page to the last! It has an epic romance with heartwarming interactions between the main couple, interactions that showed a heroine moving on from her painful past and growing stronger with the support of a delicious hero. Add in issues surrounding the MC and you end up with a story that keeps you glued to the pages.
Paige Hale's life has been one painful incident after another, it's been a life not her own for far too long. So when the Nasty Bastards MC comes to her rescue she doesn't know how to react. She's lost and unsure of how to act, where to go, and most importantly who to be. She doesn’t think she deserves anything good in life and it adds to her already bumpy journey to starting over. I ached for all she'd been through, ached for her to finally find some peace and happiness, and with some unlikely help it ends up being an immensely satisfying return to the land of the living for Paige with Country by her side.
From the very start Country shows himself to not be your typical biker by his immediate commitment to Paige. He's drawn to her from the very beginning and is all in, desperately wanting to help her start anew (and start anew with him especially), and I found him endearing with his slow and gentle interactions with her. He's got some baggage of his own though that causes a few bumps in his burgeoning relationship with Paige, bumps that were frustrating at times, but it showed necessary growth for them as a couple and as individuals for them to deal with the bumps head-on.
On a whole this was a satisfying tale, a nice balance of action and romance, featuring an appealing main couple whose romance I was rooting for from the first page to the last. Though I've not read other installments in this series I still had no problem grasping the ins and outs of this MC world. What I read intrigued me and now has me wanting to go back and read this series from the start. In the genre of MC romances Ms. Faiman has crafted a real winner here and I definitely recommend it to fans of the genre, fans of emotionally intense tales full of heart and soul.
My rating for this is an A-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
