Reese Maxwell meets her happy-ever-after in Layla Hagen's newest. What starts as a pretend romance soon turns into so much more...
Newly divorced Dominic Waldorf is the most coveted bachelor in Chicago. At least, that's what he thinks. I'd describe him as more of a Neanderthal with a really nice backside. When I accidentally spill champagne on him at a charity event, he accuses me of hitting on him. Then later, I run into him in an empty coat room, and he's convinced.
The truth is even more embarrassing.
I'm hiding from my ex-fiancé, who showed up with his new wife—my former best friend. I try to hold it together, but instead spill my guts to this handsome stranger.
Dom surprises me by suggesting an agreement: we pretend to date. I get to rub it in my ex's face and he appears off the 'market'. You scratch my back—I scratch yours, that sort of thing.
Dom is an excellent fake boyfriend. He's protective and caring, and even gives me a smoking hot kiss. Then things get complicated. The charity has another event for us to attend — out of town, and overnight.
Between late night confessions and three more smoking hot kisses—not that I'm counting—I start wondering if he's really faking everything.
I'm certainly way past pretending.
Soon after, Dom admits that he wants to date me...me, Reese Maxwell, for real! But my heart isn't allowed to make any decisions anymore.
Except — maybe — this one last time...

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
The Maxwell Brothers series returns right in time for Christmas...and oh, what a fun and flirty romance that is gifted to us readers! When a combustible first meeting becomes a night of awkward encounters, things take an even more surprising turn when a proposal to forge a beneficial fake relationship takes two people down a road they never saw coming.
As the final book in this series, emotions were running high. With each turn of the page the end was coming ever closer and it gave a sentimental sense of urgency to the story and invested me fully into the burgeoning romance between Dominic and Reese. These two individuals have been bruised by love in the past which has made them a bit leery to put their hearts on the line again, particularly Reese, who's been betrayed by her ex-fiancée and ex-best friend. Unto the low point of hiding out from her ex in a closet, Reese finds herself face to face with delicious and supportive Dominic. Together they agree to be each other's protection, pretending to date to show their exes that they've moved on. It's not long before they find themselves in close quarters, sharing truths about themselves while falling in love for real. Theirs is a journey that made me smile while warming my heart, bringing me joy while turning up the heat, all while supporting one another and strengthening their self-worth. It was a delightful journey that drove this story to its satisfying conclusion, highlighting this immensely appealing main couple and their supportive relatives. Dom and Reese gave readers everything they could want in a romance book's main couple, sweet and sizzling, while balancing their story with characters and couples from the past. On a whole, this book was the perfect series-ender, wrapping up this extended family's story with a flawless set of epilogues that utterly charmed me and has me looking forward to what Ms. Hagen publishes next.
My rating for this is an A-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
