MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
As a reader obsessed with MC-themed books, the Sinner's Tribe series has been a compelling and sexy thrill ride thus far and has me looking forward to more from these protective and loyal bad boy bikers. This installment picks up a short time after the previous book ended and puts us right back into the middle of a war between the Sinners and the Black Jacks where the body count keeps mounting, loyalties are put to the test, and danger is around every corner. Into this turf war love might become the biggest casualty though as the ultimate playboy Cade fights to keep the struggling single mother Dawn safe from her cruel ex and her own brutal biker past.
Cade's always been seen as a playboy, never content with just one woman after seeing his own mother's devotion to his father lead to her death. He's never wanted to open his heart as love is seen as a weakness in his world but he can't help being drawn to Dawn. After just two nights he knew he had to have more of her, if only he can convince her that not all bikers are bad. Her past ties to the MC world complicates things though as he's forced into choosing between his Club and his newfound love and revenge for all the hurts she's suffered. Cade's torn between wanting to keep Dawn safe and be true to the Club that saved him when he returned home from war emotionally bruised and broken which had me feeling sympathy for him with his divided loyalties. Despite the complications that being with Dawn represents she brings out all the secrets he's kept hidden, he becomes unburdened and carefree in her presence. Being with Dawn's children also brings out a softer side to him that was endearing and had him slowly realizing how special belonging to one person can be. His romantic battle with Dawn was full of sexual tension, emotional intensity, and unexpected twists and turns that proved that bad boy bikers need love too.
Dawn's life went downhill the day her parents died. Living on the streets led to choices she's still ashamed to admit to, but her biggest mistake was thinking that Jimmy "Mad Dog" was her savior. Leaving him though has made her life even more miserable as his manipulations led to her daughters being taken from her and given to his sister who's increasing monetary demands lead to more danger for everyone involved. Dawn's heart and soul belongs to her daughters and she's desperate to get them back but Cade is a delectable distraction that culminates in numerous hot and heavy interludes. He soon becomes her only hope in getting her girls back, but is she willing to put her heart on the line for the promise of family she sees in his eyes? Dawn is a strong-willed woman who's very untrusting which left me frustrated as Cade never did anything while committed to Dawn that would cause her to doubt him. After everything's she's been through she swears to never be controlled by anyone again but lets herself be continually manipulated when it comes to her daughters. Considering how strong and sure Cade is I was hoping the woman he fell for would be the same but some of Dawn's actions left me frustrated. I could forgive her though as I enjoyed the softer and more caring side she brought out in Cade.
This was an exciting addition to the gritty and pulse-pounding Sinner's Tribe series with more danger heading towards the Club's front door. Love and loyalty are put to the test which led to some hard choices that left everyone a bit bruised. Cade is a great hero showing a sweet and sexy side along with a dark and deadly side that was equally appealing. Dawn's a survivor and admirable but still has a ways to go before she becomes as independent as the previous installment's heroine, Arianne. I loved the glimpses of the other Sinners as each is more compelling than the next with their dark and mysterious pasts being hinted at throughout each book in the series. On a whole it's the men who rule in this world and why I'm drawn to this series. These are men who are loyal to the lucky women who capture their attention and I look forward to the next Sinner finding heaven.
My rating for this is a B+
