After the death of her parents on the day of her college graduation, Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends, but the guilt of going against her parents’ beliefs haunts her. The feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she’s felt before, but Delilah has never even kissed a girl, and fear stops her at every turn.
Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never again date another girl who wasn’t out, but that was before she met intoxicatingly sweet and sexy Delilah.
When another girl offers to teach Delilah the ropes, it changes Delilah’s whole world and gives her the courage to go after the only girl she really wants. But coming out isn’t as easy as Delilah imagined, and moving past her parents’ death and the feelings of guilt she is left with is even harder. The intense passion between Ashley and Delilah is too strong to deny, but coming together means risking everything.
Discovering Delilah is an edgy, evocative, romantic story of friendship, family, and the courage to love.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Into the crowded genre of m/m romances it's about time the girls get to take center stage and in Ms. Foster's capable hands it's a story that resonates with everyone looking for love and acceptance.  Picking up where Catching Cassidy ends, life for Delilah is still one of guilt and confusion but with a loving group of people surrounding her she just might find her HEA.

Months after the deaths of her parents Delilah's still having a hard time moving on.  She feels guilt over disappointing them by admitting the truth about her sexuality and for going against their beliefs by having those kinds of feelings. Their shadow still hangs over her leaving her confused and desperate to find out for sure if she's really gay as she's never even kissed a girl.  Though she tried to live up to their image of who and what she should be by dating boys she knows she's always felt unsatisfied and frustrated.  Leaving their childhood home behind was the first step in moving on with the second being to finally kiss a girl.  The girl she wants is Ashley, who makes her even more confused as the early stages of their relationship is as friends who both secretly want more but are both scared to take the first step.  The early stages of their relationship was sweet with their mutual confusion over the other's feelings charming. Together they traverse a sometimes difficult yet always heartwarming journey to HEA through self-acceptance.

This was a sweet yet intensely emotional story of self-discovery, acceptance, and moving on from the past.  Delilah's feelings throughout her journey are easy to relate to and had me rooting for her to stop living by her parent's beliefs and rules. She luckily had a strong support system in her brother Wyatt, his girlfriend Cassidy, her friend in therapy Janessa, and all the other denizens of The Taproom.  Her biggest supporter though is Ashley who's secure in her sexuality thanks to a wonderful family.  She's there through all the ups and downs as Delilah deals with her own self-recriminations and other's judgments. She's a sweet, kindhearted, and caring girl and just what Delilah needed to put the past behind her.  From start to finish this story captivates you as it beautifully depicts a person's first real love and all the magical feelings surrounding that. It's a story that all lovers of romance will want to read and I highly recommend it!

My rating for this is an A.
