MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

I normally like my romances with a bit of angst, but this one called to me from the very start and I quickly gobbled up this sweet and sexy m/m romance.  With a story focused mainly on two men with hearts bruised from the past, a young girl ends up being the catalyst in bringing them together in a tale that has them working through their past doubts to make a future together.  With each turn of the page readers will become captivated by the pairing and will be further entertained by their interactions with the endearing Hailey.

Rafe and Nolan were a match made in Heaven, a match destined from the moment they met each other.  They may have started out as friends but it wasn't long before their insta-lust became too powerful to ignore.  As the sweetness increased so too did the steam in this decadently delightful m/m romance.  Theirs is a journey that moved along at a pleasant pace with only a bit of frustration along the way.  That frustration came courtesy of Rafe's fears and doubts over growing up in a small town with issues over sexuality.  It's tainted how he sees himself, and keeps him from fully committing to Nolan through much of the book.  The painful way he grew up had me very sympathetic towards his character and desperately wanting him to find unconditional love...which he did with Nolan.  But at the same time I wanted to shake some sense into him for not grabbing on to the joy that was clearly right in front of him right from the start.  While Rafe sometimes made me want to scream, I found Nolan wonderful.  He came from a warm and loving family which led to him having a big and kind heart.  Unfortunately there were those who took advantage of that kind heart and it's left him worried about handing that heart to another.  Even though he has doubts he still commits to Rafe early on and I wanted to hug him for his belief in love.

On a whole this was a satisfying story with a romance that charmed me.  I found the characters endearing, with only a dash of frustration brought to the tale courtesy of Rafe, and it had me rooting for these two every step of the way.  While the majority of the story focused on these two there were delightful moments spent with Hailey which showed how good they could be as a family.  Fans of m/m romances will find much to enjoy about this book and I recommend it wholeheartedly!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of MC-themed romances, this story grabbed me from the very start and never let go!  With its delicious hero, kindhearted heroine, and delightful secondary character (the charming child to the hero), I became quickly captivated by the action in and out of the bedroom along with the exhilarating suspense.  With each turn of the page I found myself falling even more for the drool-worthy hero and hoping he'll allow himself to claim his HEA as he so richly deserves it after showing himself to be more than what he shows the world.

Trent Lawson is a man who's lived a rough life as the son of a dangerous biker president, committed crimes he's not proud of, and taken lives and spilled blood in the name of necessity.  He knows he's not a good man, but behind his tough exterior is someone I was drawn to, someone deserving of HEA despite what he thinks.  The moment he meets good girl Eden is the moment he knows his life is going to get even more complicated as she becomes a sensual temptation too hard to ignore.  Despite all that makes them opposites, there's a delicious connection between these two that delightfully drives this story.  There's a slow burn between these two that builds in intensity as sensuality and suspense collide.  Throughout this story I found Trent a decadently delightful hero with charming and endearing interactions with his son which showed Trent wearing his heart on his sleeve.  His words and deeds during quiet times with Eden were poetic and romantic, but that didn't hide the dirty talking nature of this bad boy! He and Eden were combustible together and I enjoyed watching them grow closer together, dealing with their painful pasts full of lies and heartbreak, as a formidable pairing determined to embrace their HEA.

From the outside Eden Murphy exudes good girl vibes, but the moment she meets Trent is the moment she longs to be a bit bad.  Applying for a job to help her father brings her into Trent's world early on in the story and from there things turn unforgettable as these two opposites find an unwavering connection, a connection that's at war with his negative beliefs about himself and danger from their pasts creeping ever closer.  Add in the fact that she's his son's teacher and they find themselves growing even closer together, interacting as a family in ways that warmed my heart.  Eden's an immensely likable heroine, one who isn't who she seems to be as she's got a strong backbone and a lot of grit when showing Trent how perfect they are for each other.  Life hasn't been all sunshine and roses for her either in a tale that puts both of them through the emotional wringer before they're able to embrace their HEA.

From start to finish this was a captivating story with a romance full of heart and soul. The interactions between the hero and heroine were sizzling one moment while making me teary-eyed the next.  This couple fought for each other every step of the way while outside forces worked against them before throwing a jaw dropping act my way very late in the story that has me excited for the next installment.  On a whole this couple had me rooting for them after everything they'd been through before.  And with the addition of Trent's son, with his sweet nature and profound joy, it made this trio an unconventional family that I hope to see more glimpses of in future books!

“Speaking of hot guys...” She angled her head in the direction of a white Porsche Panamera that pulled into the parent pick-up line on the other side of the wrought-iron fence. “There he is.”

And I wondered if I was seeing things. Hallucinating.
If this was some kind of cruel, sick joke or if I’d just done something really terrible in another life and this was my punishment.
Because there was no mistaking the smoldering eyes staring me down through the windshield where he came to a stop at the curb.
The way shock blanched his unbearably gorgeous face before his jaw clenched in what appeared hatred. Or maybe glee.
With the man, I was sure they were one and the same.
My hand tightened on the child’s.
Instinctual.
A gut reaction to protect him.
Shivers raced. This unsettled feeling that something was coming. Something I didn’t understand, but something I should fear.
The man climbed from the driver’s seat of the flashy car that I wouldn’t have thought would fit him at all but somehow right then looked like the perfect accent piece.
He straightened to his full, menacing height.
“There he is! There he is!” The child started jumping up and down and waving his hand in the air. “Hi, Dad, hi! Over here!”
That seething intensity flashed through the air. My head spun and my knees knocked, my mouth going dry.
Trent Lawson strode toward the gate, all dark swagger and don’t-give-a-shit attitude, even though there were at least fifteen signs asking parents to stay in their cars and their children would be escorted out.
I got the sense the man wasn’t exactly one to follow the rules.
Because there he was, dressed a lot like he’d been last night, black jeans and a black v-neck tee and black boots that were unlaced. All that exposed, inked flesh somehow appeared obscene.
I had the urge to wrap the child up and take him into hiding. Run to the rest of the children and usher them to safety.
Emergency evacuation.
But I just stood there.
Dumbfounded.
Finally, I mumbled, “That’s your dad?”
Gage Lawson.
Of course.
This really was some cruel, sick joke, and I was the very brunt of it.
“Yep! That’s him.” Gage was jumping and pointing. “Tell him I got an A, Miss Murphy! He’s gonna be so proud!”
Trent Lawson strode toward the gate with the clear intention of barging in.
Finally, I found my voice, calling out before he made it through the barrier. “Sir, you need to wait in your car. School isn’t over for a couple minutes, and we will bring your child to you. Parents aren’t allowed in this area without signing in at the office first.”

With his hand on the gate latch, he paused, an arrogant smirk ticking up like a threat at the corner of that plush mouth. “That so?”
I lifted my chin, still clutching his son’s hand. “Yes.”
He eyed me as if I were the enemy. “So, let me get this straight. I pay an ungodly amount of money for my son to come here, and you get to tell me when I can and cannot pick him up?”
“You’re paying for your child’s education, Sir, not for me to order you around.”
“Huh...would have been mistaken.”
My chin lifted higher. “It seems you are very, very mistaken.”
A war waged in the exchange. That same tension that had existed last night clear and present, his outright animosity unchanged. But there was something else lining it, too.
As if I’d gained some sort of power as we stared each other down.
“You’ve got to wait, Dad! I told you I got to get all the As, and you’re gonna ruin it by not followin’ the rules. Sheesh.”
Tessa giggled beside me.
One second later, the bell rang. It jarred me out of the trance the man held me under, my entire being jolted with the sound, as if time had been set to pause and it’d begun to speed to catch back up.
Children screeched their excitement and ran to grab their bags that were lined up against the wall.
“Please remain in your car tomorrow,” I called out, the words roughened shards as I reluctantly released Gage’s hand.
“I’ll see what I can do,” he returned, just as smug and cocky and infuriating as he’d been last night.
Gage went running that way, that giant backpack bouncing all over. He glanced at me, running backward for two steps, nothing but grins and belief. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back to see you tomorrow, Miss Murphy!”
When the child made it to him, Trent stretched out a hand for Gage to take.
For a flash, his entire demeanor shifted when he looked down at the child and the child smiled up at him.
Soft. Kind. Protective.
I had to be seeing things.
Then he turned to leave on those ridiculous boots, but not before he tossed out from over his shoulder, “See ya soon, Kitten.”
Anger rushed, my cheeks hot and my pulse wild and that irrational rage taking hold. All mixed up with that feeling.
That impossibility.
They walked back to the Porsche, and I remained rooted to the spot as he helped Gage into the backseat and into a booster before he rounded the front of the car and slipped into the driver’s seat.
The man glared at me before he tossed his car back into drive and pulled from the curb.
Fingernails curled into my upper arm. “Holy shit, Eden Jasmine Murphy,” Tessa hissed. “What was that? And you better fess it up now, because I can already feel your denial coming on, and there is no denying whatever the heck that was.”
She waved a turbulent hand through the air as if she could capture that feeling.
Something unattainable but real.
“That?” I let my eyes follow the car that whipped out of the drive far too fast. “That was my new boss.”

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I started reading this book I was utterly charmed!  Through rapid-fire banter, to humorous inner dialogues, to an endearing cast of secondary characters, I couldn't wipe the smile from my face as two apparent opposites find their way to HEA.  Set in the same world as Ms. Loring's previous books, Sleeper and Charmer, readers are reintroduced to single dad Alex who's feeling a bit lonely despite having his son all to himself while his ex is on tour.  Seeing his fellow child stars find their HEAs has him longing for more though, longing for someone real and different from the usual women he attracts, and one night at a bar has him meeting just such a woman.  Emilia has always been the proverbial good girl, but one night (and a few drinks) has her making a memory that neither can forget in a fun and flirty romance of second chances that puts a sexy spin on parent/teacher interactions!

Alex Vega had a pretty good life as a former child actor and now as a world class director.  When it comes to business he's extremely successful and is just as successful at being a single father.  His son Ryder is the light of his life, his reason for being, and I adored their interactions for their humor, heart, and realism.  When it comes to the opposite sex though, he's in a slump and feeling dissatisfied and disillusioned...until the moment he sees a tipsy Emilia.  Their attraction is instant and combustible but ends before it can start.  Fate can sometimes be kind however and when the sizzling emails between Alex and his son's new teacher bring him back to Emilia, the heat really turns up in a romance that has a forbidden slant to it that had me rooting for them every step of the way.  Alex is a delicious hero with a good heart!  The love, pride, and joy he finds in his son is endearing and made me like him all the more.  He's a tell it like it is kind of guy, bold and brash in what he wants, and unafraid to go after Emilia's heart despite the danger to her job.  He's willing to take his time when it comes to the heart-leery Emilia in a slow-burn romance that was steamy, sweet, while making me blush and smile at the same time.

Emilia Stiles recently broke up with her boyfriend...it was actually their final break-up and it became the impetus to her leaving her small town behind and starting over.  With her friend's encouragement she finally decides to snub her past completely by going out for shots and dancing, enjoying a night where she lets loose of all her usual inhibitions.  What she finds is an instant attraction to a stranger who becomes fodder for all her dreams once they're separated, dreams that suddenly become a reality when that stranger shows himself to be the father of her new student and shows up at school to talk.  It's an equally combustible reunion, one that tempts her to go further despite the rules against parents and teachers dating and leads to an unforgettable romance.  Emilia's a wonderful heroine, a bit nerdy and bland in her looks but oh so real when it comes to her heart.  She's a truly good person, one who's no longer content to let life pass her by, and I was cheering her on as she and Alex worked their way to HEA.  Early on she's a bit timid and uncertain but the longer she and Alex are together a more self-assured young woman emerges, a sex kitten in the bedroom and someone willing to go toe to toe with Alex.  I enjoyed watching these two, loved their crackling emails that took on a feeling of foreplay, and was completely captivated by their steamy journey to HEA.

From the first page to the last this romance was an utter delight!  With a likable main couple whose banter teemed with sexual tension, while bringing humor into and out of the bedroom, this was a romance that I never wanted to end.  It was a slow-burn bringing Alex and Emilia together, a journey where their thoughts and hearts were on unvarnished display and it warmed my heart.  Alongside this sweet and sexy couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, some who readers have seen before and some new ones too.  I was thoroughly entertained by the reappearance of Alex's friends, Shane and Nico, heroes from the previous two books set in this world and who are loving married life.  There's playful banter between the three men, a sense of brotherhood that endeared them to me while I inhaled every interaction between them.  Alex's son Ryder also made himself a special place in my heart!  He was a smart and funny little boy, wise beyond his years when it came to matters of the heart between his dad and Emilia. He had a big heart too, an infectious spirit that made me smile whenever he was on scene.  His matchmaking talent was charming and sweet and it helped bring the three of them together as a family. Emilia's flamboyant roommate Franklin was another highlight as he jumped off the page with his brash nature and devil may care attitude. He was a great support to her, pushing her when needed, while hugging her when she needed it most.  Every character and every heartfelt emotion made this a wonderful romance that I'm still thinking about long after The End.  It was an immensely satisfying romance that pushed every one of my emotional buttons and it has me excited for what Ms. Loring has planned next!
