Feature & Follow Friday........

Hello all, it's that day of the week where we learn new things about each other and discover new blogs along the way.  We also help each other by becoming followers of one another.  Normally that following would be through GFC (which would be great if you'd still take a few seconds to do), but with that being eliminated for certain blogs (a big boo-hiss to that) I now ask that you follow through a RSS Feed (or Twitter, FB, or email) which you can find to the right.  I want to thank all of you ahead of time who choose to become a follower and make sure to let me know in the comments if you're new so I doubly make sure to follow you back.  And now for this weeks get to know me question....

Q:  What is a book you didn't like that all your friends raved about or what book did you love that wasn't popular?

A:  I will answer the first part of this question as a book immediately jumped out at me that perfectly answers that question.  A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin makes for a wonderful TV show but I felt that the book dragged on and on and on.  Too many characters with too much going on made for a book that bored me to tears but that all my friends keep asking.....Have ya read it, Have ya read it?!?!  They seem disappointed when I tell them I didn't like it.

  1. Hopping through. I really want to read GOT. Maybe I'll find it too long and confusing but I'm so curious.

  2. The multiple/many POV's definitely isn't for everyone! I love how this question makes me realize that no matter how popular a book is, it will always not work for somebody. Different books for different people--which is good because otherwise my bookshelves would be reallllllly boring.

I'm an old follower (I think I follwed you on my very first Follow Friday, actually!). I don’t know if we’ll do FF tomorrow, but we do have a giveaway!

  3. I tried to read the book after watching the show and I don't think it can be done that way. PageGirlsPageofBookReviews

    1. Have no fear, I'm one of the few who's had issues with it. I feel awful not liking the books since I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the TV series! I always describe the TV show as the Cliff Note version of the books......

  10. Okay I'm one that LOVES GoT but even I admit the writing style is a bit heavy. My brother asked me about it because he, too, loves the HBO series, and I told him not to read it. He's one that can only get into extremely easy reads, so I know he wouldn't last in Martin's writing style. I still love it, though. :D My FFs are at LKHill and Musings on Fantasia. Happy Friday!

  12. I've had so many people recommend Game of Thrones to me and promise me I'll love it but I really don't think it'll be my kind of thing. Of course I've tried plenty of other books that I didn't think were my thing either and ended up loving them.

  15. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm now following. I have to admit I've never read or seen Game of Thrones myself, but I can understand how an Epic that can draw out into such a long TV show can be drowned in too many characters.

  16. Old follower here.

You know, I've seen a few people who watched the show first who didn't like the book... and I have to wonder if it's because the show is pretty loyal to it, so you know mostly all of what's going to happen?

I really loved the format of each book being told from the viewpoint of about 5 characters, for me it kept it moving and very exciting... although I must admit, as the series went on, I found myself reading faster through the chapters of characters I cared less about, so I could get to the ones I liked better XD

  17. I heard that a lot about the Game of Thrones as well! My sister also took forever to read it but in the end she still really liked it, so I would also really like to give it a try :)

Thanks for sharing and I am now also following you :)
