My name is Quinn Blackwood:
By day, I'm a billionaire CEO. Rich. Entitled.By night, I'm the exclusive porn star only known as Q.Why? Because I love women. If I believed in an almighty being, I'd thank him for creating them. They're by far his most perfect creation… especially when I'm fucking one of them.
Oh, did I mention I'm an asshole? Fuck yeah. According to my shrink, I'm one twisted motherfucker. And that's just the way I like it. Until she walks into my life...
My name is Elyse Gilbert, nicknamed ‘Lucky' because according to my dad, I'm the unluckiest person alive, and I'll die the same way I came into the world: naked, screaming, and dirt poor.
Yeah, my life is a twisted, seething mess. But that life changed the day I met HIM.He made me forget the cameras. He made me forget I was doing this for the money. He made me forget my shame. He made me forget everything. I was consumed by him. Only him.
But now my past has caught up with me.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

It's a fine line between justice and revenge and Ms. Cox makes that boldly clear in this intensely erotic tale that brings two emotionally bruised people together with combustible and unexpected results.  It's a unique romance that blurs the line between right and wrong and shows how betrayal of those meant to love those they hurt leads to single-minded ruination despite the fallout.  It's a story that wraps you in a sensual haze from the first page to the last and easily immerses you in the lives of its larger than life lead characters.

Quinn is a man on a mission.  Since the death of his mother at the hands of his father and others who should've protected her he's sworn vengeance.  It's a dangerous journey he's planned to destroy those he blames, a path that's slowly destroying him in the process.  At first there was nothing that could sway him, but meeting Elyse Gilbert has him second-guessing his choices.  The more hope she gives him in giving him glimpses of love and acceptance the more conflicted he becomes.  Despite what he wants though he's set on his path and once the hammer falls he might lose the one thing he wanted to protect when her past and his collide.  Quinn is a purely Alpha male who's used to getting what he wants because of his great wealth.  When it comes to Elyse and the sexual games that bring them closer together the ending isn't what he planned for nor is her reaction to the truth.  Quinn is clearly crazed with anger as his plan to destroy his enemies is a complex one based on sex, but you can't help feeling sympathetic for the flashes of loneliness and tenderness he bestows on Elyse. He's clearly a man in pain and it's only in Elyse's arms that the tension and rage that constantly weighs on him eases.  Ultimately, Quinn's a sexy man who has all the money in the world but can't reach his HEA until he can win back Elyse from her being a pawn in his plan of revenge.

Elyse too has been betrayed by those who should've protected her as her corrupt father whored her out once she came of age.  It's a life of loneliness and fear that has her running for her life, and that of her secret sister, right into the arms of the notorious Quinn.  As he wraps her up in a cocoon of sensuality she has her own plan that will set her free from her past of death and destruction. As they play their sexual games the feelings between them become stronger and more complex the closer Quinn gets to his endgame.  Elyse is an admirable heroine who rolls with the punches.  No matter what fate hands her she comes through it stronger.  Whereas grief corrupted Quinn and sent him spiraling down a dark road, it pushed Elyse into action.  Instead of wanting to hurt, she wanted to help, making sure her sister doesn't go through what befell her. Elyse is a bright spot in a story full of darkness and it had me cheering for her every step of the way.

This is an intense read from start to finish, one that pulled me into its hypnotic embrace.  The sexual interludes are gritty and frantic, showing the desperation of these two bruised souls, and I found myself drawn to the sexual tug of war their relationship exuded.  The main characters are compelling and memorable and alongside this engaging couple is a cast of secondary characters who left their mark on the overall storyline.  The kindly Fionnella who was like a second mother to Quinn as well as his mysterious and powerful friend Axel added to my enjoyment of the story.  As I couldn't take my eyes off Axel, I hope to see more of him in the future as this is just the first installment in Ms. Cox's I series. Readers who long for an enticing story full of emotional highs and lows will want to add this book to their bookshelf as it's a read that you won't soon forget!

My rating for this is an A.
