Three lovers really click in the latest from the New York Times bestselling author of Call on Me--
Cora has an amazing sex life. She’s beautiful, daring, and the most popular submissive in Hayven. Too bad none of it’s real...
IT specialist Cora Benning has figured out the key to her formerly disastrous love life—make it virtual. In the online world of Hayven, she’s free of her geek girl image and can indulge her most private fantasies with a sexy, mysterious master without anyone in her life discovering her secrets. Until her information is hacked and she finds herself working to fix the breach under two very powerful men—one who seems all too familiar...
Best friends and business partners Ren Muroya and Hayes Fox were once revered dominants. Then Hayes was wrongfully sent to prison and everything changed. Ren wants to get back to who they were. Hayes can’t risk it. But when they discover the new IT specialist is their online fascination, and that she’s never felt a dominant’s touch, the temptation to turn virtual into reality becomes all too great…

EXCERPT:

She shifted backward, bumping into her car. “Please don’t do that."
He brows dipped. “Don’t what?"
“Try to make me feel better. Give me a boost or whatever. Because, seriously, I don’t need your pity."
He laughed. This sharp bark of a thing that echoed through the empty parking lot. “Pity? Are you kidding?"
Her teeth clamped together, anger rising. “You--"
But he moved so fast it made the rest snag in her throat. Both of his hands landed on the car behind her, caging her in and bringing his face close to hers. “Ready for completely and wholeheartedly inappropriate?"
He wasn’t touching her anywhere but he may as well have pressed his entire body against her for the way her blood went hot. She couldn’t speak. Couldn’t move. All she could see were those dark eyes and inhale the scent of him, spicy food and man.
“I reeled myself in tonight. I asked you to dinner for selfish reasons. But once we were there and got to talking, I had a crisis of conscience. You’re working with me. You’ve been through hell this week. You didn’t need me complicating that. I forced myself to play by the rules. I made myself be good.” He leaned close to her ear, his breath coasting along her neck. “But don’t think for one second that I didn’t want to talk you into my bed tonight, that I didn’t want to show you that side of myself you saw in the hallway, and that I haven’t been thinking exactly how good it would feel to have you beneath me."
All ability to breathe ceased inside her, her body going still as stone and melty as lava.
“So you can accuse me of a lot of things, Cora. Crossing lines. Being selfish. Acting inappropriately. Because I’m doing all of those things right now. But one thing you can’t accuse me of is pity.” He pushed off the car, freeing her from the invisible hold, and took a step back. “I’ll see you on Monday. And if you decide not to show up anymore because of this, I’ll make sure you’re paid through the next two weeks."
He turned and strode toward his car, leaving her standing there trembling and breathing hard and... way too turned on.
She wet her lips, a surge of bravery welling in her. “You never told me your breaking-the-law story."
The words rang through the distance between them, and she thought he might keep walking, but he stopped and turned around. “We’ll need to schedule a seven-course meal to get through all of that."
“That long of a list, huh?"
His mouth kicked up at the corner. All bad boy and charm. “Yep, you game?"
She swallowed past the dryness in her throat, knowing what he was asking was about way more than a dinner. She was so damn far off the reservation. “I might be..."
His gaze heated, slid over her with open appreciation. “It’s a date, then. Goodnight, hallway girl.”

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Through eight books Ms. Loren has crafted a highly sexualized world where play of all sorts is encouraged and bonds a large cast of characters together as family.  Throughout the series characters have interacted and now stand together to protect one of their own when a psycho tries to claim what's not his. From start to finish readers will find themselves on the edge of their seats caught in a sensual and suspenseful haze as danger lurks around every corner both in the virtual world and in the real one.

Hayes Fox was once at the top of the BDSM world known for his domineering talents, arrogant with the belief that nothing could ever knock him off his pedestal.  Through a jealous rival's machinations he was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit and though he was released early the years of captivity have left their mark.  He's no longer the carefree man he once was and out of fear of hurting others he's relegated his dominant tendencies to the virtual world.  When the virtual world becomes real upon his meeting his online sub he realizes he can no longer hide his true self and soon find himself embracing his HEA.  When his past comes back to try to take his newfound loves though an unexpected act of heroism from a band of geeks is the only thing that will save them all.  Prison has hardened Hayes, both body and mind, and kept him in a self-imposed cage that has him fearful of bonding with anyone.  His confidence has been shaken and I ached seeing him as a shell of who he once was.  He's lost his trust and it speaks volumes about his feelings for his best friend Ren, and online love Cora, that they are the ones he chooses to bring him back to the world that fulfills him.  Hayes is a sexy beast with a big heart, and though I would've loved to learn more about his past, I loved getting to meet the man he's become and enjoyed watching him come back to life.

Ren's childhood was a traumatic one after choosing the wrong man in the name of love.  That love became twisted and took years for Ren to put behind him. Helping him through that time was his neighbor Hayes who always swore to protect him and never betray their intense connection.  The feelings of acceptance they engendered in each other were tempered with feelings of lust that became a line they wouldn't cross despite their burgeoning feelings.  Ren and Hayes became a formidable team, both in business and pleasure where they shared women, and he stood by him throughout his stay in prison all the while looking for the truth.  Ren's creative and artistic, exhuberant, with a heart of gold that shines through.  His feelings for Hayes were clear from the very start which had him dragging him back to the land of the living every step of the way.  He gave his heart and soul to Hayes, earning my love and respect, in a sweet and sexy journey to HEA.  I ached for everything he'd been through and applauded his strength in overcoming his past pain.  He encouraged Cora, strengthening her battered self-esteem through his talent for dirty talk and open honesty, and I enjoyed the differences between him and Hayes that made their menage relationship with Cora all the richer.  All in all I was drawn to him and wish we could've seen more of his past and how that made him the man he is today.

Cora's always been unique, never easily categorized.  She doesn't embrace her girly side as it doesn't fit her hacker mentality, but it does frustrate her as she's constantly stuck in the friend zone when it comes to romance.  Her policewoman mother has taught her to be overly cautious, fearful of living life to the fullest, and it's kept her from embracing her true desires.  Finding the online game Hayven became a haven for her, liberating her to all the possibilities the online dom Dimitry teases her with, while introducing her to danger from a man bent on destroying the fragile HEA brewing between her and the two enigmatic men who bring her into their sensual world.  With Hayes she finds a man on edge, a man who understands fear and hiding from life, but together they find a sense of freedom in their online interactions that soon bleeds into reality.  Hayes is hurting and she wants to help heal him which leads to sexual interludes that are scorchingly off-the-charts.  With Ren she finds laughter, joy, and acceptance of her unique look and style.  He gives her permission to embrace her sexual side while Hayes is her teacher and together they're a formidable match that lit up the pages.  Cora's a memorable heroine, strong-willed and loyal to the men who freed her from her own cage.  She's an unlikely heroine too not afraid to step up to the plate when her lovers are in trouble which left me cheering.

This was another super sexy installment to the Loving on the Edge series that nicely balanced erotic encounters with edge of your seat action.  The characters are compelling with their interactions both playful and steamy.  The attraction between Ren, Cora, and Hayes felt natural and believable and resulted in interludes that left me blushing.  In their menage Ren's the heart while she's the glue binding Hayes to both of them at a time when they'll need each other's support the most.  I was drawn to Ren and Hayes and would've loved to learn more about them but what I saw of them here had me falling for them wholeheartedly and left me completely jealous of Cora.  The romance and scorching interludes are what draw me to this series but it's the characters that keep me coming back for more.  Readers again got glimpses of past characters that gave a sense of family and they played important parts in keeping the action moving at a steady pace.  Ms. Loren incorporated a disturbing villain into this installment too, twisted and tainting the BDSM lifestyle, and it kept me on the edge of my seat as his identity was kept fairly well-hidden.  The conclusion of this story was pulse pounding and I enjoyed Cora's pivotal role in it all and look forward to where this "Queen of Steam" takes us next!

My rating for this is a B+/A-

*I got this book from NetGalley for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

AUTHOR INFO:

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. Though she’ll forever be a New Orleans girl at heart, she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son.
If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstarser, rock concerts. Yeah, that's it. She is the National Bestselling Author of the Loving on the Edge series from Berkley Heat.
