Book Release Blast for Ace by Harley Diamond (REVIEW)…….

A second chance at love is just one emotion taking center stage in this fast-paced and angsty read that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Ace by Harley Diamond, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this first installment in the Angels of Hellfire MC series to your bookshelf!

Jason Steele. A bad boy biker placed on earth to tempt good girls like me.
The future Prez of the Angels of Hellfire didn't want the unattractive best friend he grew up with. Plain Jaine Jones.
At least not for keeps.
The reason eighteen-year-old me skipped California for New York? Unrequited love.
Mr. Ace of Broken Hearts played me, then asked the bitch who made my life a misery to be his old lady.
It's been ten years. My father is dead. I need to go home to lay him to rest.
Ace won't expect the ugly duckling who's transformed into a swan—the badass queen who's no longer plain.
It's time for the fallen angel to be served his penance for what he did.
But not by God.
By me.

TRIGGER WARNING - This book contains mature content, violence, swearing, and other potentially triggering situations that some readers may find offensive. Please do not read this story if you are uncomfortable with any of the above.

Many of the tropes fueling this dark contemporary romance are among my favorites.  From the ugly duckling to the glamour gal, from being a best friend to wanting to be more, and from an unrequited love that gets a second chance to find HEA...this is one storyline-heavy book that puts readers through the emotional wringer!  Multiple POVs, conflicted feelings leading to hurtful exchanges, and edge of your seat action will keep readers breathless and holding their breaths with each turn of the page.  There's so much going on throughout this book that it can get a bit overwhelming at times.  Some areas are given big chunks of storyline whereas others got a bit shortchanged, but things never got boring.

With this being the debut novel of Ms. Diamond, I commend her on crafting such an exhilarating romance that held readers captive.  The heroine may have started out as Plain Jaine but ten years away from her childhood town see her dramatically changed.  Jaine has become quite the badass after her love for Ace resulted in disappointment ten years before and readers get a lot of insight into her character as the story progressed.  Her love for Ace was tarnished long ago but the feelings never completely died despite becoming involved with other men inhabiting the brutal Mafia/MC world.  It's all led her back to Ace though in a romance full of push/pull, steamy interludes, and moments of frustration as the past interferes with the future.

The action is exciting and the characters are larger than life.  Jaine is fully fleshed-out but less time is given to Ace which made him look a bit weaker than the other men in Jaine's life in my eyes.  That's not to say that he's not a drool-worthy hero...because he is.  But rather, I found myself COMPLETELY obsessed by the glimpses of Padraig and Razr and am breathlessly awaiting getting to see more of them again.  On a whole Ms. Diamond has crafted a gritty tale full of raw emotions and even more raw dialogue (a bit too raw at times) that pulls you in wholeheartedly.  You'll cry, you'll find yourself blushing, all while racing towards a conclusion that will leave you screaming.  Fans of MC romances will find this an entertaining read, slightly flawed but satisfying for a series starter nonetheless!

My rating for this is a B.

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

HARLEY DIAMOND is a writer of romance novels with plot twists that will leave you begging for more.
In every dirty story, an angsty bad boy and a badass queen lead the cast.

When Harley’s not reading, she’s writing. When not doing either, she’s plotting to unleash her next novel on you from her non-working farm in West Yorkshire, England, surrounded by her faithful but very needy companions. Her seven rescue dogs.
