MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The best books pull you in from the very first page, and with each turn of the page, invest you in the characters through every up and down they're subjected to.  Ms. Burgoa does exactly that with this angst-fueled tale of two people whose lives become entwined from an early age and who get put through the wringer on their way to adulthood.

Brahms Ehrenberg & Seraphina St. Clairmont are the stars of this story and they form a strong connection the moment they meet.  Fast friendships and deep bonds were immediately formed in a heartfelt journey that ultimately led to a heartbreaking accident that pulled these bonds apart at the seams.  A love that was just starting to shine too unfortunately gets put asunder due to outside forces.

For years these two remained apart with Brahms, because of such devastating losses, going to a very dark place that had me aching for him.  Things take an even more emotional turn for him when another accident leads him to Seraphina's healing doorstep where years of secrets and lies finally see the light of day in a rollercoaster ride to HEA.

Brahms is a sexy hero whose soul-deep hurts pulled me into his life completely.  Along with the glitz of the rock star life came the lows of loss, loneliness, and addiction.  Ms. Burgoa pulled no punches in the depiction of all he went through and it makes for a more richly rewarding story as he earned the HEA he worked hard to achieve.  Seraphina's a strong heroine who's had her own difficulties with her father's life and death leaving her emotionally and financially in dire straits that Brahms's brother uses to convince her to let Brahms back into her life.  This is a couple that were always meant to be together as their connection was too strong to ignore.

This is a second chance romance with a couple that I quickly became invested in.  They got put through the wringer, both emotionally and physically, in a page-turning ride full of secrets and lies.  This is a beautifully crafted tale that pulled at the heartstrings.  From a childhood friendship to a love that never died, I was rooting for them through every up and down they went through.  Surrounding this epic couple was Brahms's brother who I long to see more of in the future.  The epilogues in this book were also wonderful!  Family letters and glimpse of the future act as a healing balm to leave readers happy and satisfied after all the darkness that came before.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

It's a rocky road to HEA for two apparent opposites whose lives have been intertwined since they were kids.  When the guiding force in their lives dies, it leaves both of them reeling and trying to live up to past promises while trying to find themselves.  From moments of sadness and heartbreak to moments of steam, readers will be on a rollercoaster ride of emotions amidst the push and pull of two people dancing around the obvious.

Camden Holbrook is the hero of this story and I was drawn to him from the very beginning.  His background is a sad one courtesy of a drug-addicted mother, leaving him starving for food, love, and attention.  Camden saw the Pastor as a father figure, a safe haven in the storm of his youth.  With the Pastor's death, Camden was taught yet again that there are no guarantees in his life.  It also showed him to be a man of honor, a man with a good heart, who will live up to the deathbed promise he made despite how much hurt it causes him.

Blessing Savage is a young woman with strong emotions, reeling from the death of her father, acting out and self-destructing.  She's loved Camden from afar for years, but just when she needs his support most, she finds herself caught up in an endless cycle of push and pull and judgments.  Her journey is a frustrating one at times, her struggles to find herself heartbreaking, but it kept me rooting for the two of them every step of the way.

Pulling readers in from Camden's heartbreaking childhood full of uncertainties, to the pain of loss Blessing shows through her self-destructive behaviors, this is a tale full of emotions.  You become invested in this pair from the start, invested yet frustrated by their dancing around each other as the story progresses.  With each turn of the page I was on edge, anticipating the moment when they finally realize they're much better together than apart.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Readers will once again be pulled into the emotional wringer of a web built on a woman's painful past that has defined her until now.  When that past comes calling though she'll be left with big decisions and big reveals that will change her life inexorably.  With each turn of the page the author balances moments of edge of your seat suspense, with intimate and sensual encounters between an unforgettable main couple, with the help of an eclectic cast of secondary characters who have me looking forward to future installments.

Vixen's a woman with a painful past who managed to crawl her way out with the help of the Devil's Handmaidens.  She didn't escape without scars though as she was forced into prostitution and drug addiction with her twins stolen from her.  She thought that undercover FBI agent Ironside would be her savior but he vanished from her life, taking her heart with him, and leaving the Devil's Handmaidens her sole support emotionally and in giving her a safe place to call home too.  When a phone call from her past reopens the door on her journey of pain, it's a journey that now encompasses many of her club sisters since the man that hurt her back then is fueling many of the secrets hanging over the club now.

From the moment Vixen gets the call for help my pulse was immediately racing with fear and anticipation.  The rescue plan was one that brought in every member of the club and put each in danger.  The rescue plan crafted fueled this story courtesy of the importance of its success, the secrets it left hanging over those trying to save those used and abused, all which made for a raw and gritty read.  The romance between Vixen and Lucas "Ironsides" Dombranski is one of second chances, forgiveness, and making amends and it made my heart ache watching them try to find a HEA amongst so much pain and uncertainty.  Theirs was definitely a hard-fought and rocky road to HEA...but I was definitely on board for all that went on between them and was fully invested in them from start to finish.  Not only was I captivated by Vixen and Ironside's complex relationship, I was on the edge of my seat for all that befell the other members of the club.  The secrets hanging over each, the uncertainties weighing each down, all kept me excitedly turning the pages in search of answers and HEAs.  In a book filled with many (one too many at times) eclectic characters, ones who were tough yet supportive, ones who put their lives on the line to do what's right, I'm once again applauding D.M. Earl and this wonderfully crafted MC world that keeps me coming back for more!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With the cliffhanger from the previous book hanging over reader's heads, it was with bated breath that I started reading this conclusion to the Requiem for Love duet.  From start to finish you will be on the edge of your seats, right alongside this triad who's trying to rebuild their lives amidst painful pasts that haunt them still.  It's a rocky journey, one gently and realistically depicted, that pulled me into their reunion and had me rooting for them to find HEA.  With each turn of the page I was reminded of how perfectly imperfect this triad is, how well they fit together like the pieces of a puzzle.  On a whole it's a book that touches you on every level, breaking your heart before putting it back together in a triumphant tale of overcoming the past to find a future worth fighting for.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rockstar romances I gobbled this one up from the first page to the last.  Though the storyline seen here is one we've seen before, I still found myself captivated as my emotions were played with at every turn.  The first part of this book introduces readers to college girl Presley Figueroa who's trying to finish her degree and get a job as money is tight for her and her entertaining Aunt Meg.  From that moment on, from the moment she meets guitarist Zeke of Onyx Knight, her life takes unexpected turns of highs and (mostly lows) that broke my heart.  She's a tough heroine, one I rooted for every step of the way, in hopes that she makes Zeke work for forgiveness when the time comes.

William Zerkesian "Zeke" seems to be at the top of the rockstar world when readers first meet him, but the cracks in his rock god facade are starting to show.  The partying, the drugs, and the women are starting to lead to dangerous and hurtful behaviors.  The moment he meets Presley though he's drawn to her, and together they have an unforgettable night, one that leads to a morning of miscommunication and anger that lingers for over a year.  His year away from Presley is one that sees his bandmates in dire straits, has him feeling guilty for the condition they're in, as well as having a desperate need for Presley’s forgiveness that he has every reason to grovel for since he has a lot to atone for.  Throughout this story there were many instances where I hated Zeke!  I hated his behaviors and his ease in believing a lie.  I hated his ongoing relationship with a viperish woman who only wants the outer shell he shows the world.  She's a toxic part of his world and doesn't have the band's best interest at heart and I cringed whenever the two of them were together.

With each turn of the page my heart hurt more and more.  I felt broken down by all that befell Presley, her Aunt, and the band, and was grateful for the second half of the book that slowly built me back up.  I'm not gonna lie...this book will rip your heart out!  But the longer Zeke is on the scene the more he earns my forgiveness, earns my heart as he becomes just who Presley needs him to be.

Along the rocky journey that Presley and Zeke undertake is a slew of emotions that readers will be feeling right alongside the characters.  I ached when they ached and wanted to spit with the number of miscommunications that hurt this couple repeatedly.  I adored the connection between Aunt Meg and Presley, the unconditional support they gave one another in scenes that warmed my heart.  The glimpses of Onyx Knight kept me glued to the pages, watching the bandmates unravel while hoping they put themselves back together soon.  After reading this entertaining and compelling series starter, I look forward to where we readers will be taken next!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I picked up this book I knew my heart was going to be put through the wringer...and it definitely did as a young woman hoping to find her purpose tries to reconnect with her brother as well as the man who first touched her heart.  With each turn of the page readers will be pulled into this less than perfect world, drawn to these bruised and broken characters, all while being occasionally frustrated by the push and pull between these long-term loves.

Derek Reiner is the proverbial rockstar as he lives fast, gorging on women and fun, while trying to balance that with the darker side of his life.  He's always had demons but now that he's reached the top of the rockstar world the demons that were once in the background have now come to the forefront.  He's on a self-destructive slide (he and his bandmates) when this story starts and the only one who might be able to save him is his bandmate's little sister in this forbidden romance teeming with angst.  Derek's clearly hurting at the start of this story, feeling unworthy and not good enough to be loved.  When it comes to Allegra though he wants to be good enough and it becomes a slow-burn of emotions between the two of them, a push/pull that put them (and readers) through the wringer.  Allegra has never forgotten that long ago kiss from Derek, and while taking time off from college to find herself, she decides to see "what if" where Derek's concerned.  Allegra's a wonderful heroine, one with a big and loving heart.  She wants to belong, feel like she's part of something, and it's definitely an uphill climb to HEA as she and Derek dance around each other.  At times Derek can be cruel, while at other times he had me drooling over him.  He's always compelling though, and I always found a way to forgive himself despite his toxic rockstar god behavior.  For every two steps forward there was one step back as these two addressed more of their pasts and desires for the future.

With this being a trilogy I knew things were going to end on a cliffhanger...and it's one I was fully expecting to see play out.  The conclusion is one that still made me gasp though, still made my heart hurt, and still had me rooting for this clearly bruised couple.  Along with the angsty push/pull of this story's main couple, I was equally intrigued by the other bandmates, longing for their stories to be told as their demons need to be healed too.  On a whole this book pulls you in, pushes on your heartstrings, and I'm now left waiting breathlessly for the next installment.

Marsh tilted his head, shrugging. “The band and I are entering a new phase of working. We’re ready to look back over our past as well as turn towards the future.”
“Look back over the past...” Lola paused, although to Tawny it didn’t seem as though she needed to think about her next question. “Do you have any regrets from your past?”
Marsh glanced across at Tawny. “Many things happened in the course of my career that I’m proud of. But I also lost a lot of people along the way. And some of them I will always regret losing.”
A stone seemed to settle in Tawny’s stomach.
“You’ve had a varied career,” Lola commented coolly. “And now you’re releasing a greatest hits album. Would you say that and the documentary are intended to rejuvenate a failing career?”
What?
Tawny’s gaze snapped towards Lola at the same time as Marsh’s did, but Marsh spoke first.
“This interview is over.”
And, holding up one hand towards the camera, he stalked out of the room, brushing past Tawny on his way.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Fans of rockstar romances will find this a steamy and emotional tale of second chances amidst the cold hard truth of addiction that seems to permeate the music world.  There's a feeling of sentimentality radiating off the lead couple, and the remaining bandmates, and it led to painful recollections of their past that have them questioning the here and now.

Overall, the story has a superficial feeling to it as there's no deep delving into what happened between the hero and heroine years ago.  Being told what happened as opposed to being part of the action took away some of the emotional impact.  The few steamy scenes depicted took on a superficial tone too, though there was still a feeling of playfulness that alluded to their long-term connection.  Regardless...the interactions between Tawny and Marsh definitely grabbed my attention, leaving me curious while rooting for them to make a comeback...as a couple and as emotionally-healed individuals.  The three remaining bandmates had me longing to know more about them too as the storyline surrounding them is timely and compelling.  While this story didn't go as deep as I'd hoped it would, it definitely gave me hours of afternoon delight that made me blush while warming my heart.
