Book Release Blast for Dr. Single Dad by Louise Bay (REVIEW)……

Unexpected fatherhood has a playboy seeing his future in a whole new light in this charming single dad/nanny romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Dr. Single Dad by Louise Bay, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this fifth installment in the Doctors series to your bookshelf!

Unexpected fatherhood, a newborn daughter and a nanny in the next bedroom he can't stop fantasizing about.
When a one-night stand announces I just became a father to a baby girl, my world is thrown into turmoil. My choice: single fatherhood or sign adoption papers.
The decision is easy.
Within hours, I'm on a plane to collect my daughter.
I’m in over my head. I barely know one end of a baby from the other. Luckily, I have the perfect plan. I’ll hire live-in help, have limited involvement with the kid, and keep my life just the same as it’s always been.
I finally find a nanny who lives up to my exacting standards. But the only problem is, every time I look at her, the future I thought I wanted starts to crumble.
Nothing in my life is going according to plan...and the wriggling poo machine in my arms is unexpectedly worming her way into my heart.
Life was ordered and logical until I got myself two roommates and started falling in love with both of them.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

I'm a sucker for a single dad romance and the premise of this one definitely captured my attention.  Though I hadn't read the previous books in this series, I found myself quickly tempted by each of the Cove brothers, and charmed by how they didn't hesitate in coming to support Dax learning about his becoming a father.  In a tale of two people living lives according to expectations and other's needs, this couple became a strong support to one another in finding their personal HEAs.

Dax Cove saw his life in a certain way with little benchmarks to gauge his success.  Becoming an unexpected father wasn't something he planned for but he has no intention of letting it change the picture of his future...at least that's how things start.  He plans on being a hands-off dad with a competent nanny to do all the work.  Having a sweet baby depending on him brings out a softer side to him though, has him enjoying the little milestones of a baby growing up instead of discovering a new medical concept.  The nanny he hired also tempts him and has him thinking of forever when he looks at her in a journey that endeared him to me.  Dax started off a bit arrogant, a bit standoffish, with his vision for his future a very solitary existence.  I enjoyed, and completely embraced, his evolution which showed the power of love.  Eira's supporting him changing his plans for his future was just what he needed.  Embracing love, and guiding a newborn's life, are just as important in the world as a new, medical discovery and it was an enlightening moment for him.

Eira Cadogan is the perfect woman for Dax and it's lucky that fate intervened to bring them together.  She's a strong heroine with a big heart, giving priority to her siblings for the last few years.  She works hard to provide for them, putting her own dreams and plans aside.  Her chemistry with Dax just felt right as they started a steamy journey to HEA full of sexual tension and doubts as they both struggled with what they wanted and who they wanted to be to each other and themselves.  She's a strong support to Dax throughout the book and made him a more likable hero.

Not having read the previous books in this series didn't diminish my enjoyment of it.  In fact, the interactions Dax has with his siblings has me adding their books to my to-buy list.  Their interactions felt real and were imbued with heartfelt emotions that drew me to each couple.  The overall premise is cookie cutter, but there's something about familiarity that made this a comfort read with steam.  Dax and Eira were wonderful together, bringing out the best in each other while forging believable paths.  Baby Guinevere was also a delight, and I normally don't like children in my romance reads, but I enjoyed the gentle and caring side she brought out in Dax.  On a whole, I found this a satisfying read with some spark.  And I look forward to reading more from this author!

My rating for this is a B+

Book Release Blast for Reckless Heart by Brighton Walsh (REVIEW)…….

A secret romance explodes in this fourth installment in the Starlight Cove series as a businessman becomes entangled with his employee...who just happens to be his sister's best friend.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Reckless Heart by Brighton Walsh, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this steamy and sentimental small town romance of opposites attracting to your bookshelf!

Turns out the gorgeous woman I had a one-night stand with is not only my sister’s best friend but also my new employee.
Worse? I shared a whole lot more with Avery than one mind-blowing night. I told her my deepest, darkest secret.
Despite my constant worry that she’ll let the truth slip to my family, I can’t stay away from her. And when we’re tossed together for an out of town trip and forced to share a room with only one bed, the chemistry between us finally explodes...again.
I have no problem making her see stars—or breaking the bed. The trouble is, the longer our secret relationship goes on, the more I want to keep her.
But she’s eight years my junior, the sunshine to my grump, and I know her free spirit wants more than the small town of Starlight Cove can offer.
I have no doubt no one will ever give her more pleasure than I will, but I refuse to hold her back. Even if that means letting her go when her three month contract is up.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Courtesy of Ms. Walsh, and her sweet and spicy small town romance, my week has ended on a definite high note.  In a story that checked many of my happy boxes, readers will find this a comfortable read that is low on angst and high on sexual tension thanks to its delicious hero.  With much about this book feeling familiar, the story becomes like a blanket that warmly embraced me and captivated me from the first page to the last.

In a story full of delights, the brightest spot is its decadently delicious hero, Aiden McKenzie.  To the world he seems buttoned-up and dedicated to work, a man who likes to control everything he sees as his.  Behind the scenes though is another side to Aiden, a casually sexy side that shows off his tats and his talent for dirty talk and erotic thoughts...all leading to a big secret he's been hiding, one that he only shares with his one night stand.  It's a one night stand that changes his life irrevocably as it's courtesy of an unforgettable woman...one he discovers is his sister's best friend.  Avery and Aiden are combustible from the moment they lock eyes and they waste no time burning up the pages.  Though Avery working for Aiden leads to a few awkward exchanges early on they have a wonderful connection that sees them wholeheartedly supporting one another with each turn of the page.  Through it all Avery's a likable heroine, fun and sassy, but with some issues that have kept her from reaching HEA.  Aiden's just the one to help her be all she can be though and they fit together like two pieces in a puzzle.

Along with a combustible main couple, there were a slew of entertaining secondary characters who were funny and told it like it was.  Friends and family of Aiden were especially delightful with banter that constantly had me smiling.  Young and old both provided entertaining banter and keep driving this series forward, leaving me clamoring for more.

My rating for this is an A-

Notes from Triada Investment Meeting:

As compiled by Scarlett Evans—executive assistant, grad student, and reluctant admirer of CEO Nick Hart’s snacktastic abs

Well, my fellow corporate drones, it’s another less-than-exciting investor meeting with the executives (Loud Talker, Human Buzzword, Master Delegator). And at the front, CEO Nick Hart, the world’s coldest—and ok, unbelievably sexy—tech badass. The man hasn’t smiled in the history of ever, he runs a tight ship filled with miserable employees, and gosh, he just really does not love feedback. Especially from me.

Development updates, acquisition delays, and…holy hell, why does he keep looking at me? I don’t work for him. I work for his brother. Which is good, because otherwise I’d spend every meeting secretly wondering what actually lies beneath that cool, aloof demeanor. Like, is he an uptight geek in the boardroom…and a sexy-assed freak in the bedroom?

He’d better not find out I’m the one stuffing the company suggestion box. What’s so wrong with a Valentine’s Day Social, anyway? But the fact that my notes are less professional and more entertaining is one seriously dangerous game. Because if he ever found out what I really thought of him, there’d be all kinds of sweet, delicious hell to pay…

EXCERPT:

“I’ve gotta admit, I’m dying to know what you just signed up for.”
“That makes two of us.” I shove my burger aside. There’s no way I can eat it now. Not with the prospect of some half-baked project hanging over my head like a guillotine.
Miles smirks. “Drumroll, please.”
I give him the finger, but Beck indulges him, tapping the edge of the table.
“Anonymous says we need a—oh, this is too perfect.” Miles howls as Beck and I stare at him, waiting for the punchline. “A—” He chokes on his laughter and has to take a drink of water before continuing. “A Valentine’s social!”
He’s messing with me.
He has to be. Who would put that in the suggestion box? This is a place of business, not a fucking romper room.
Even if sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference.
“Let me see.” I reach for the laptop, shooting Beck a dark look. They’re both laughing like hyenas now. “Have you two been stuffing the suggestion box?”
“Don’t look at me,” Beck says, shaking his head. “I don’t have time for that kind of petty prank.” He chuckles. “It is pretty ironic, though. You know, since the only thing you hate more than Valentine’s Day is the suggestion box.”
Miles is laughing so hard now it’s a wonder he doesn’t bust a blood vessel. Asshole.
Could this be his doing, some ass-backward attempt to make me appear likable? It doesn’t matter. I’m not doing it.
“Pick something else. February fourteenth is the Epos launch. The timing is terrible and four weeks isn’t nearly enough time to put something like this together.”
“Oh, no you don’t.” Miles wags a finger at me. “You already agreed. Besides, that was the last one.”
Fucking hell. Leave it to Miles to pick the one week the damn thing isn’t overflowing.
“No way. It can’t be done.”
“Not with that attitude,” Miles says through peals of laughter. When he finally gets control of himself, he adds, “Relax. If anyone can handle it, it’s you.”
It’s true. I’ve never walked away from a challenge in my life, but what the hell do I know about planning a social? I’m the last person in the world who should plan this event.
On the other hand...
It could be the perfect opportunity to prove I’m not the controlling bastard Scarlett thinks I am.
Arrogant. Uptight. Cold.
Her words chip away at my brain with maddening persistence. I shouldn’t care what she thinks. I know it on a cerebral level, but after last year’s bad press, her ludicrous, ill-informed assessment is infuriating.
Salt on an open fucking wound.
“So?” Beck spears a piece of lettuce with his plastic fork. “Are you going to do it?”
My gaze slides from Miles to Beck and back again. It won’t be easy—I’m already spread thin with the Epos launch—but I’m no quitter. With a little time and a plan of attack, I can do this. And who better to help plan a Valentine’s social than Miles’s snarky, highly organized, whip-smart assistant?
“I’ll do it on one condition.” A slow grin curves my lips. “I want Scarlett to help.”

Book Release Blast for Where Waves Break by Julia Wolf (REVIEW)……

-A former rock star, turned grumpy mechanic

-My teenage crush

It was supposed to be a one week job. Nannying Diego Garza’s adorable, four-year-old son should’ve been easy.
But things get complicated when Diego catches me doing something I shouldn’t. When he confronts me, I do the only thing I can think of: get down on my knees.
To my surprise, he doesn’t get angry. Instead, Diego Garza calls me a good girl.
Then my one week job turns into all summer. I’m living with Diego and his son, desperately trying to forget how right it felt to be on my knees for him and how badly I crave to hear more of his praise.
Except Diego doesn’t forget. All day I take care of his son, and every hot summer night, he takes care of me. He tells me I’m perfect. Beautiful. Sexy.
I want to belong to Diego Garza in every way. But he hasn’t asked me to stay when this job is over at the end of summer.
The question is...when I’m not his nanny anymore, will I still be his?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

It's a brilliant intersection that brings together this series along with the Unrequited series of books, a beautiful melding of second chances and claiming exactly what you want, between a grumpy rockstar and a quiet, young woman whose actions speak louder than words.  From the first page to the last this book reels you in, makes you ache, before giving you the exact ending you've been hoping for through their sweet and sexy journey!

June Adler's the quiet yet caring younger sister of The Season's Change lead singer. She's been part of the rockstar world for quite awhile...and has had a crush on Diego for quite awhile too.  He unfortunately doesn't know she exists which changes irrevocably the moment she becomes nanny to his young son.  The moment he's back in front of her is the start of an erotically-charged connection, one that takes on a bdsm vibe as she proudly claims her submissive side.  There's a true connection between the two of them as he can easily read her desires and is happy to meet them in crackling and combustible scenes.  These scenes may appear merely physical early on, but their encounters show much deeper emotional depth, a joining of the hearts and souls of this captivating couple.

June's an amazing heroine, a young woman who's so much more than she appears. She's comfortable with who she is and what she wants, she goes after her desires, never settling for less and never giving in.  There's a maturity to her young age, a confidence behind her quietness that grows the more time she spends with Diego.  She has a painful past though, courtesy of a controlling father, and I cheered her on as she worked to overcome the negativity he pushed on her.  Diego Garza's an equally appealing hero with a past that broke my heart.  He's a gentle giant, a grumpy man, one who hides a big and caring heart.  He's a loving, sometimes overprotective dad to 4-year-old Milo, and I found him to be completely endearing.  He and June had a beautiful bond and were a strong support to each other in a journey that pulled at my heartstrings while making me blush and drop a tear or two along the way.

On a whole this book was pure perfection!  The romance between June and Diego crackled from the very start before catching on fire.  June's inner-strength grew through Diego's support and acceptance in a connection that ticked every box for me before putting their love to the test of time and their future.  Add in Milo and you have an even more delightful story!  A perfect end to one series and the reason to start reading the other if you haven't already!

My rating for this is an A.

Book Release Blast for Drake by Sawyer Bennett (REVIEW)…….

A retired hockey player, disillusioned by the sport and by love, gets pulled back into the world of the NHL and matters of the heart he left behind when a female team owner comes calling in this sweet and sexy tale.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Drake by Sawyer Bennett, along with my impressions of it, then add this fifth installment in the Pittsburgh Titans series to your bookshelf!

Drake McGinn turned his back on hockey after the league betrayed him. Will the Titans be his chance to clear his name and take back the career he once loved?
After I made the decision to divorce, my ex-wife set out on a smear campaign against me, telling anyone who would listen that I was betting on hockey and throwing games. It wasn’t surprising that my ex told the lies, but the fact that the media, league, and fans chose to believe her baseless claims was unforgivable. I walked away from it all and never looked back.
Having settled into life as a single dad to three boys, I’m content. I have more money than I could ever need, and plenty of time to do whatever I want, whenever I want, and whoever I want. So when Brienne Norcross, the team owner for the Pittsburgh Titans, shows up at my house with a job offer, I have no problem turning her down. But the no-nonsense billionaire, with sinfully seductive red lips and killer heels that would look hot as hell thrown over my shoulders, won’t take “no” for an answer.
Now I need to find balance between hockey, my boys, and the explosive chemistry Brienne and I can no longer deny. A cast-off hockey player and the league’s only female team owner? I can think of a million reasons why it could never work but can’t bring myself to care about a single one of them. Game on.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The queen of hockey romances returns with the continuing ups and downs of the Pittsburgh Titans as a single dad comes out of retirement to help a female team owner determined to keep rebuilding her team after the emotional highs and lows that have befallen them.  Action on and off the field, lives fueled by hockey and hearts once broken, are slowly rebuilt as an unexpected connection forms between two people who've built some pretty big walls around themselves.  As the fifth installment in this series the overall storyline might feel a bit familiar, but Ms. Bennett has imbued it with great depth, heartfelt moments, and a satisfying bit of steam to make it a richly rewarding romance.

Drake McGinn's life once revolved around hockey...until his divorce led to lies being told about him and a disillusionment of all he thought about the world of hockey.  His ex-wife burned him but good and had him walking away from the sport and locking his heart away.  He's a devoted single dad when the story starts, a man with trust issues who keeps his relationships with women merely physical.  He's a man carrying feelings of betrayal towards a sport that he once gave his all to, a man with vulnerabilities that were slowly revealed in a tale that pulled at my heartstrings.  Drake's a delicious hero who's been put through the wringer due to his ex-wife's machinations and its unexpected results.  He's content raising his sons (as seen in scenes that were unabashedly charming) and is at first entertained by the constant attention from female team owner, Brienne, in trying to get him to return to the sport.  The moment he gives in to her business offer though is the moment his life changes irrevocably.  While he rebuilds his life on the ice, he finds his heart being rebuilt through his growing feelings for Brienne.  Their connection might've started out strictly physical, but through heartfelt talks and moments of painful honesty, through being willing to show his vulnerable side, the two of them grew closer together in an immensely satisfying romance that had me adding Drake to my list of book boyfriends.

Brienne Norcross is one tough cookie!  She's a strong-willed heroine determined to get her team to the top after the tragic plane crash that destroyed the team...and killed her brother.  She's a knowledgeable woman, one who's unafraid to go toe-to-toe with others, and one who likes to call the shots...both in and out of the bedroom.  After a disastrous first meeting with Drake, Brienne becomes even more determined to get him on the team.  And so begins a sensual dance that brings them closer and closer together in a relationship that begins on a very superficial level before becoming even more meaningful and romantic through open and honest dialogue.  Throughout their time together Brienne's thoughts about sex are depicted as very masculine, a unique and modern viewpoint that makes her interactions with Drake even more combustible.  In showing her vulnerabilities to Drake she never shows weakness and remains the strong and capable woman who you want the Titans to win for.

Drake and Brienne are a sizzling couple from the very start, ones hardened by the actions of the world around them, who find a healing connection that warmed my heart while making me blush a time or two.  Erotically-charged encounters led to surprisingly emotional depth that pulled me into their romance completely and made me like them even more as their softer sides were revealed.  Their interactions with others were another delightful addition to the book as the teammates formed a tight, brotherly bond that made Drake feel a part of their world again.  Brienne too found a sisterly bond with heroines from the previous books, a bond that was missing for her until now and it helped her let her hair down.  Drake's scenes with his sons were endearing as well, charming and showing how deep his devotion to them is.  From the first page to the last this book checked off so many boxes for me with its combustible romance between two emotionally bruised people.  It was super sexy with two people giving as good as they get, balancing these scenes with sweet and heartfelt emotions.  On a whole this was an immensely satisfying story, beautifully crafted with appealing and likable characters...and I highly recommend it and the books that precede it!

My rating for this is an A.

EXCERPT:

She wrinkled her eyebrows together. “I really don’t see what that has to do with me—” “I told him you were my fiancée.”
She laughed. It was utterly unexpected. It was a completely unfiltered, unpretentious, belly laugh. She laughed like it was the funniest thing she’d ever heard. Geez. It wasn’t that funny. If this wasn’t a fake engagement, he might be insulted. He settled onto the couch, reclining against the back cushion as he waited for her to calm down.
Her eyes bugged out. “Oh, you’re serious?”

“As a heart attack.” Sensing her resolve about to crumble, he pressed his case. “It would be just for the weekend. No one other than Kingsbury would have to know. I can tell him that we’re keeping it under wraps because you’re a very private person. And, since you’re my employee, you didn’t want it to appear like I give you preferential treatment. After an appropriate amount of time had passed, I’d let Kingsbury know the engagement was off. No harm, no foul. And the company would land Kingsbury’s project, one that will greatly benefit our historical renovation department.”
Her eyes briefly lit up at the mention of her department. It was like the icing on the cake. Or a dangling carrot before the cart. He was hungry. With the booking mix up, he’d skipped breakfast. No worries, he’d order in to celebrate their “engagement.” He could see her undisguised interest...in the historical renovation project, at least. He pretended that didn’t wound his ego.

“I’d ensure you were assigned this project.”
She chuckled. “So much for not giving me preferential treatment.”
Sitting up straighter, he felt the faint stirrings of hope. “Does that mean—”
“No.”
“A hard no?”
She shook her head. “This isn’t a negotiation, Mr. Grey.”
“Nick.” He offered her a charming smile. “I find, in business, everything’s a negotiation.” “Not to me. I’m pretty uncomfortable with deception.”
“Honesty is an admirable trait. I value honesty.”
“Except when it comes to creating a fake fiancée?”
“You got me.” He ducked his head, grasping for the right words. This negotiation was a dismal failure. He had to hand it to her. His Bethany had integrity. That also ruled out straight-up bribery. What did she want? “What is your five-year plan?”
She looked startled, like she’d been anticipating a continuation of their sparring match. He held back a smile, throwing her off-kilter was surprisingly satisfying.
“After I finish my internship, I’d like to become a project manager.”
“That’s ambitious for an entry-level intern. This is your first year, isn’t it?”
“Yes, sir.” She leaned forward, fixing her intense gaze on him. “I’m very determined.”

“A commendable trait. And one I share with you.” He hoped he looked sufficiently earnest. “The success of the company is important to me. Expanding into historical restoration has been a long time dream of mine. With the Kingsbury contract, we have a huge opportunity.” He looked away, pacing the execution of his grand finale. “I allocated significant resources on this expansion. If we miss out on this contract, Grey & Company might not be around to get another chance.”
Alluding to their dire financial position was a slight exaggeration, but he was desperate enough to play on her sympathies. She would respect his ambition—he hoped. He glanced up when she didn’t respond immediately.
She bit her lip, looking deep in thought. “You don’t know anything about me.” She spoke softly, like she was talking to herself.
He felt like an interloper, but he was too close to let a little guilt get in the way. “The company would’ve completed an in depth background check before extending an employment offer.”
She cast an exasperated look in his direction. “Which just means I’m not a criminal. We know nothing about each other. Certainly not enough to pretend to be engaged, even for a weekend. Your scheme—no offense—is crazy.”
“But you’re amenable to helping me.”
“I wish I could help you, but I can’t.”
Her tone was clearly dismissive, which meant the window of opportunity was closing fast. He leaned forward, grasping her hands within his. “You can help me. And I feel like you’re the only one who can.”
“Why me?”

Book Cover Reveal for The Game by Vi Keeland……

A young woman using science to find her perfect match instead finds him when she unexpectedly becomes part owner of a football team in this charming and steamy contemporary romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting glimpse of The Game by Vi Keeland, then start counting down the days until this book hits shelves on January 16th!

It started out like any other Tuesday.

I spent twelve hours writing algorithms for one of the largest companies in the world and then came home to work on a pet project of mine—feeding facts about the men I knew into a formula to find my perfect match before my twenties came barreling to a close.

But then a man knocked on my door and handed me some papers that turned my life upside down.

Apparently, a father I never knew existed had left me something in his will. That something turned out to be part ownership in a professional football team.

Next thing I knew, I was learning a sport I knew nothing about by spending time with the team’s quarterback who was out with an injury, a man who my formula would definitely determine was all wrong for me.

Christian Knox was too handsome and confident for his own good and could have any woman he wanted.  Only lately the only woman he seemed to want was me.

But there was no way I was getting involved when I was now his boss, even if he was insanely gorgeous and had the dirtiest mouth I’d ever come across.

It would be wrong, wouldn’t it?

Probably. But you know what they say about things that are wrong...sometimes they feel so right.
