Book Release Blast for Dr. Single Dad by Louise Bay (REVIEW)……

 Unexpected fatherhood has a playboy seeing his future in a whole new light in this charming single dad/nanny romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Dr. Single Dad by Louise Bay, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this fifth installment in the Doctors series to your bookshelf!

Unexpected fatherhood, a newborn daughter and a nanny in the next bedroom he can't stop fantasizing about.
When a one-night stand announces I just became a father to a baby girl, my world is thrown into turmoil. My choice: single fatherhood or sign adoption papers.
The decision is easy.
Within hours, I'm on a plane to collect my daughter.
I’m in over my head. I barely know one end of a baby from the other. Luckily, I have the perfect plan. I’ll hire live-in help, have limited involvement with the kid, and keep my life just the same as it’s always been.
I finally find a nanny who lives up to my exacting standards. But the only problem is, every time I look at her, the future I thought I wanted starts to crumble.
Nothing in my life is going according to plan...and the wriggling poo machine in my arms is unexpectedly worming her way into my heart.
Life was ordered and logical until I got myself two roommates and started falling in love with both of them.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

I'm a sucker for a single dad romance and the premise of this one definitely captured my attention.  Though I hadn't read the previous books in this series, I found myself quickly tempted by each of the Cove brothers, and charmed by how they didn't hesitate in coming to support Dax learning about his becoming a father.  In a tale of two people living lives according to expectations and other's needs, this couple became a strong support to one another in finding their personal HEAs.

Dax Cove saw his life in a certain way with little benchmarks to gauge his success.  Becoming an unexpected father wasn't something he planned for but he has no intention of letting it change the picture of his future...at least that's how things start.  He plans on being a hands-off dad with a competent nanny to do all the work.  Having a sweet baby depending on him brings out a softer side to him though, has him enjoying the little milestones of a baby growing up instead of discovering a new medical concept.  The nanny he hired also tempts him and has him thinking of forever when he looks at her in a journey that endeared him to me.  Dax started off a bit arrogant, a bit standoffish, with his vision for his future a very solitary existence.  I enjoyed, and completely embraced, his evolution which showed the power of love.  Eira's supporting him changing his plans for his future was just what he needed.  Embracing love, and guiding a newborn's life, are just as important in the world as a new, medical discovery and it was an enlightening moment for him.

Eira Cadogan is the perfect woman for Dax and it's lucky that fate intervened to bring them together.  She's a strong heroine with a big heart, giving priority to her siblings for the last few years.  She works hard to provide for them, putting her own dreams and plans aside.  Her chemistry with Dax just felt right as they started a steamy journey to HEA full of sexual tension and doubts as they both struggled with what they wanted and who they wanted to be to each other and themselves.  She's a strong support to Dax throughout the book and made him a more likable hero.

Not having read the previous books in this series didn't diminish my enjoyment of it.  In fact, the interactions Dax has with his siblings has me adding their books to my to-buy list.  Their interactions felt real and were imbued with heartfelt emotions that drew me to each couple.  The overall premise is cookie cutter, but there's something about familiarity that made this a comfort read with steam.  Dax and Eira were wonderful together, bringing out the best in each other while forging believable paths.  Baby Guinevere was also a delight, and I normally don't like children in my romance reads, but I enjoyed the gentle and caring side she brought out in Dax.  On a whole, I found this a satisfying read with some spark.  And I look forward to reading more from this author!

My rating for this is a B+

Book Release Blast for Sold To The Circus by Lani Lynn Vale (REVIEW)……

 Two people on a life path heading towards medicine are torn apart by unexpected obligations that leave him bitter and angry, and her on a path to the circus courtesy of a father teeming with secrets, one who's not the man she thought he was.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Sold To The Circus by Lani Lynn Vale, along with my impressions of it, then add this fifth installment in the Welcome to the Circus series to your bookshelf!

AITA: Am I the asshole?
Five years ago when she left, she broke my heart. No warning. No hey, this isn’t working out. No nothing. Just poof. One day she’s there, in my bed, and we’re talking about our futures. The next, she’s gone.
So when she shows up five years later and acts like she didn’t leave me with a broken heart, I get angry. So. Freakin’. Angry.
Of course, this is where I spiral. When we went through medical school together, we were on equal footing. Not anymore. Now I’m her attending, and I’ve made it my personal mission to make her life hell.
She wants to finish up her residency and finally become a doctor? Well, she’ll have to go through every single bad thing I can throw at her, first.
Seeping, maggot-infested, pus-filled bed sore? Yep, that’s hers to take care of. Man shitting every three seconds uncontrollably? That’s also hers. Man and woman having a baby while also in the throes of a divorce? You guessed it. Hers.
If I can make her leave after what she put me through, I’ll feel accomplished.
Only problem is, I forgot how determined Valhalla Singh was. Guess she’ll be reminding me.
Because Valhalla wasn’t named that for nothing.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Ms. Vale's Welcome to the Circus series has been an emotional and exhilarating thrill ride through the first four books and this is yet another satisfying foray into the suspense and romance of circus life.  Though you COULD read this book on its own, there's a lot in this couple's past that affects their plans for the future, so reading the previous books gives greater understanding of what drives this couple.  Whereas the previous books saw the circus as the main setting, this one is in the outside world in a bit of turning back the clock to where this couple first connected, with hope that they can find their way back to each other.

Val and Felix were once a couple, making their way through the rigors of medical school, all while making plans for their HEA.  That's until her father's death turns their world upside down and takes them in opposite directions for the next five years, years full of hurt and misunderstandings for him while for her came the reveal of painful truths and a need to resume HER life.  Five years ago they were on the same page, with plans for a future together while being doctors.  It's heartbreaking how different these five years have actually been though, with him hating Val for leaving and wanting to hurt her for breaking his heart.  With her father's will keeping her tied to the circus, she's just as broken-hearted and it's yet another reason to hate her father.  When finally given their chance to reunite it's definitely not a happy reunion or a smooth journey.  It's a journey that starts under an umbrella of anger and misunderstandings, hurt feelings and circumstances that have them interacting on different levels than before.  With Felix now Val's boss, he has plans for retribution, plans fueled by his friend Tammy, who has her own ideas.  Fate has other plans for them though, love and HEA are meant to be, in a journey that's a bit bumpy and frustrating.  The moment Felix sees Val is the moment his plans for revenge go up in smoke, the love he had for her is reignited and it warmed my heart.  Despite Tammy constantly trying to extinguish the light of their love, Felix and Val were destined to be in this second chance romance fueled by lots of outside forces.

This is another satisfying addition to the series with a likable and cheer-worthy main couple.  Setting the story outside the circus gave this one a more unique feeling, but I was very happy that the siblings were still very much present with loving and humorous interactions on display.  Tammy was an irritant, a stereotype that I desperately wanted to go away, and she didn't exactly get what she deserved at the end which frustrated me further.  She's the reason this book wasn't an A read for me in fact.  Despite her intrusion I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series featuring the delicious and brooding Nash!  I'm also looking forward to what the author has planned for a possible future series with the trail of literary bread crumbs Ms. Vale has left throughout the books in this series.

My rating for this is a B+

Book Release Blast for Tough Justice by Tee O’Fallon….

 A rash of overdoses, courtesy of a new drug taking over the drug scene, brings together an untrusting doctor and a DEA Agent (and his dog partner) in this sensual and suspenseful tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Tough Justice by Tee O'Fallon, then add this first installment in the K-9 Special Ops series to your bookshelf!

It should have been a routine investigation. Instead, DEA K-9 agent Adam "Deck" Decker watches in horror as one Denver hospital seems to be Ground Zero for overdoses of a new drug. Now Deck can only hope a certain icy, green-eyed ER doctor will help him and his canine partner track down the deadly source.

Dr. Tori Sampson has her reasons for not trusting federal agents, especially ones working for the DEA. But the rash of overdoses—including a heartbreaking case involving a teen—is alarmingly high. And the new opioid is not only extremely dangerous, it defies all the usual medical treatments. So Tori has a choice: work with the big, brawny, and annoyingly hot DEA agent...or watch more innocent people die.

Tori's the only person who can help Deck break the case, and they'll need to trust each other, no matter how high the tension and attraction sizzling between them runs. But with every question answered, they realize there's something more behind these typical teen overdoses. There's a pattern here, and a pattern can only suggest one thing. There's a killer on the loose.

EXCERPT:

Her eyes softened, turning pensive. “If there’s something I can do proactively to stop the rising body count, I want to do it.” Absently, she stroked Thor’s ears, allowing him to lean his head against her thigh. Deck suspected the change of heart had something to do with the dead teenager. “But let’s be clear on something.” Her pretty eyes glittered like shards of green ice. “You have your rules, and I have mine.”
He and Thor led the way to the elevator. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure she was behind him. “Meaning?” Two seconds into their alliance, and he was already on the verge of regretting it.
“Meaning”—she stared up at him frostily—“you will not skulk around the ER, waiting or searching for overdose victims. You’ll wait until I notify you that a patient is willing to speak with you.”
“Skulk?” Deck held back a snort. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. “DEA agents don’t skulk.”
She pursed her lips. “I beg to differ. History has shown otherwise.”
He leaned his shoulder against the wall by the elevator bank, tensing. “What history?” He had no idea what she was talking about. Whatever it was, they really needed to clear the air fast or this partnership would sink faster than the Titanic.
“Never mind.” She shook her head and looked away, as if she’d said something unintentional. “There is one other thing, however.”
“What other thing?” Yeah, two minutes into it, and this arrangement was already fixing to be a cluster.
“If a patient changes their mind in the middle of your interrogation and no longer wishes to talk, you’ll leave, no more questions asked.”
“Fine.” Between them, Thor swung his head back and forth, as if watching a tennis match. “And for the record, it’s not an interrogation. It’s an interview. Anything else?”
“Yes. You have to promise never to use a patient’s name in any report.”
Deck pushed from the wall, towering over her, but she stood her ground, craning her neck to look up at him. The elevator door opened, but he ignored it. “No dice, Doc. That’s how I get my PC—probable cause. If an OD victim has information about the source of the opioids and can direct us to the location where they purchased it, I may need to put their name in an affidavit for search and arrest warrants.”
She crossed her arms and jutted her chin up at him. “Then that part of the deal is off.”
What had he gotten himself into? They’d made a deal over the phone, and she was already changing the rules. He should’ve known he couldn’t trust her. Maybe he should find someone else. But they were here, and he didn’t want to waste more time finding another doctor. “Let’s compromise. I’ll do everything in my power to leave names out, but you have to understand that sometimes that’s what it takes to get a dealer off the street. If a judge allows me to refer to victims as ‘confidential sources’ instead of using their real names, then I’ll do it. Deal?”
Before meeting his gaze, her lips compressed into a tight line, and he expected her to tell him to pound sand. “Deal.”
“Good, and I have a condition of my own. Everything we do together, everything we discuss, is confidential. You need to be discreet about DEA operations.”
“Understood,” she said curtly. “And for the record, that seems obvious.”
The door began to close, and he reached out his arm, stopping it. “Is there anything else I should know?”
Her lips twitched. “If there is, I’ll tell you.”
“I’ll bet you will.” This woman was hardcore. Delicate and pretty on the outside. Inside, she was a drill sergeant, barking out orders like a seasoned federal agent. Like him. He’d bet she could hold her ground against some of the best defense attorneys he’d ever run into.

Book Release Blitz for 1012 Curvy Way by Shaw Hart & Cameron Hart…….

Readers will find themselves drawn to this latest addition to the Cherry Falls Romance series as a stressed-out doctor finds himself distracted by the kind and caring florist determined to bring a bit of joy to his day.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of 1012 Curvy Way by Shaw Hart & Cameron Hart, then add this sweet and sensual small town romance to your bookshelf!

Ken Coleman has a problem.

He’s the town doctor in Cherry Falls, which is normally a pretty fun job, only his nurse just retired and now his easy-going routine is shattered and he’s desperate to find someone to fill the position.

He’s focused on keeping his clinic running smoothly but a certain raven haired beauty is wreaking havoc with his concentration.

Gracie just might be the solution.

Gracie owns the local flower shop and she lives to create the perfect bouquet that can brighten someone’s day. When she notices how stressed-out Dr. Coleman is, she decides to do what she does best and send him flowers.

The two of them grow close but work commitments and Ken’s too high standards might just be too much for them to overcome.

Will she be able to convince him to slow down and smell the roses?

EXCERPT:

“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t hear you come in,” Gracie apologizes as she straightens from where she was bent over, dusting some shelf.
She looks like a dainty pixie among all of her flowers. She’s curvy and precious, and practically glowing with the sun coming in from the windows. She’s like a modern-day Tinker Bell and my heart does something funny at the sight.
I’m a doctor, and I know my heart didn’t really just skip a beat. But tell that to the organ rioting against my ribcage. Bright blue eyes blink up at me, and for a crazy moment, I have the urge to reach across the counter and plant my lips on hers. Need courses through me at the thought of claiming her, feeling her soft curves, her heat, her skin on my skin as we move together, seeking our end.
I must be more sleep deprived than I thought.
I shake my head, trying to clear those thoughts as I remember why I’m here in the first place.
“Hi, these were delivered to my office by mistake,” I explain. She frowns, the tiny smile that was on her lips slipping.
“Um, actually, these were for you,” she whispers, nibbling on her bottom lip.
“What?” I ask with a little too much shock. Her shoulders stiffen at my sharp tone, and I want to kick myself for being a brute. “I mean, who sent them?”
The prettiest pink blush stains Gracie’s cheeks and she gathers her long black hair up, slinging it over her shoulder and twisting the strands, almost as if she’s nervous. When her gaze meets mine once more, I have to hold in a groan. She looks so sweet, so pure in this moment.
“I did.”

Ms. Fraser is here today to talk about the role of women in the actual historical time period this book is set in and how that influences this book’s storyline.  Take it away Ms. Fraser!
Balancing the heroine’s journey with norms of the post-Civil War era was one of my biggest challenges when writing The Engagement Gamble.
While it definitely wasn’t normal for the time, my heroine Suzanne Martindale, is a physician and trained surgeon. Because the story is the third in the series, my heroines from the previous two books also make an appearance. They are strong, in their own ways, especially Kate from book 1, given she’s actually from the present and traveled back in time and decided to stay.
Felicity, from Book 2, is the expected gently-raised southern belle who has a bit of a defiant streak when she decides to free her rich father’s illegally kept slaves. Encouraged by her new husband and the rest of the McAlister clan, she spreads her wings and ventures into altruistic endeavors.
However, because I was crafting stronger heroines, I had to balance that with the stereotypical and much more frequent women of the time period. The books include the doting mothers trying to marry off their daughters, the daughters enamored of any one of the handsome McAlister men. We have the docile preacher’s wife, and the older townswomen who love to gossip.
I have shopkeepers, female saloon owners (more about her in a later book), café owners. While all are businesswomen, they still adhere to the time period expectations. I knew if I went too far outside the expected, except with my heroines, I’d be courting criticism that the books weren’t realistic.
My greatest accomplishment though in mixing the expectation with strength was with Virginia McAlister, the family matriarch. No one, not even the strong McAlister men, would dare to cross her. She holds her own with bankers and businessmen and anchors the entire family while still retaining her gentile southern upbringing.

Marshal Zack McAlister has made it his mission to protect the good citizens of Greenville, MS. In particular, one very opinionated and independent lady doctor. The only hindrance to his professional obligations are the dozen or so single women vying for his attention.
Suzanne Martindale, M.D., has quickly become a fixture in Greenville since taking over for her semi-retired predecessor. And, like Marshal McAlister, she’s been inundated with unwanted suitors.
When Zack proposes a fake engagement, Suzanne is reluctant at first and claims in order for anyone to believe they’re actually courting and in love, there has to be chemistry between them.
Zack sets out to prove they can easily fool the people of Greenville into believing their ruse. Will his smooth Cajun charm and steamy-hot kisses do the trick? Or, are they destined to be victims of their own charade?
When outside forces threaten the entire McAlister clan, can Zack keep his family, and his faux fiancé, safe? And, will a life-threatening accident show them anything, even love, is possible if you have trust?
~~~
The McAlister family welcomes you back to Mississippi with a third adventure, and maybe a sneak peek at yet another devastating seductive McAlister man!
EXCERPT:
“It’s been quiet around town lately. Not much for a decorated marshal to defend.”
“You trying to get rid of me, Doc?”
“Now why would I do that? If you were to leave, who else would I have to argue with?”
“We don’t argue,” he said, his gaze meeting hers in challenge. “We discuss...heatedly.”
“It only gets ‘heated’ when I’m winning.”
He shook his head and leaned back against the side of the desk. “If you say so, Cher.”
“As to your offer of an escort, I can see myself home, Marshal. There’s no need to wait.”
“I’d feel better if you let me escort you.”
She sighed deeply, and Zack waited for her to launch into another of her ‘independent woman’ speeches. Or, at the very least, remind him that he was being over-protective.
“I’ll only be a minute or two, if you insist on waiting.”
“I insist.”
She could have said she needed another hour and Zack would have gladly stayed. Despite what he’d said to Pete Bailey earlier that evening, Suzanne Martindale was a breath of fresh air among the over-zealous horde of ladies hounding his every move.
She was beautiful, well-educated, independent, and beautiful. Zack shook his head, trying to shake the repeating thought free. Obviously, no matter what her many assets, her beauty was the one thing tying him up in knots. Or, maybe, it was the fact she didn’t use it to her advantage, as some of the other ladies did. Instead, Suzanne relied on her brains and taunting sense of humor to get her where she wanted to go.
“All set,” she said, drawing Zack from his mental inventory of what made Suzanne Martindale the most desirable woman he’d ever met. And, at the same time, not at all what he was looking for in a wife.
Once she’d locked the door to the clinic, Zack offered his arm. Nodding toward the hospital next door, he asked, “Do you need to stop?”
“No, the night nurse is there, and our only patients are the new mother and babe. They’re in good hands.”
They strolled along in comfortable silence until they’d reached the walkway leading to the small stone cottage where Suzanne lived. She stopped just short of the gate.
“Shall I walk you to the door?”
“This is fine, thank you, Marshal.”
“Marshal? I thought we’d agreed on Zack?’
She met his gaze, rolling her eyes for exaggerated emphasis, he supposed. When she shook her head, a small lock of blonde curls fell free of its pins. Zack’s hand itched to take the silky strands in his fingers and tuck them back where they belonged.
“You suggested Zack and Suzanne. I don’t remember agreeing. I’d much prefer Dr. Martindale, or just ‘doc’.”
Her continued attempts at formality amused him and he asked, “Tell me something, Cher, do you ever let your hair down and just relax?” Before she could answer, he added, “Have any of your friends ever been tempted to call you Suzie?”
She paused briefly before saying, “Only those who wished to be soundly kicked in the shins.”
MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Into the chaos of the world that COVID has been causing I wasn't sure I was in the mood for a book that dealt with a pandemic...but it turns out that I was in the mood as I found this a delightful story with sizzle as well as heart and soul.  Kendall and Ryan have known each other for years, been enemies too for most of those years, but a weekend trapped in a cabin by a blizzard gives them the chance to REALLY get to know each other and explore the combustible connection that's always surrounded them.  From the first page to the last it's an entertaining journey with a few bumps along the way that charmed me a time or two as well as giving me a few blush-worthy moments.  Light-hearted exchanges were balanced with a few serious moments to leave a lasting impression that had me cheering and ready for the next book in this series.
Ryan's a great hero in every sense of the term!  Sexy, caring, with a strong work ethic makes him drool-worthy.  He comes from a family of wealth but chose a career that actually means something in the world...a doctor.  In a story set a year after a pandemic, and the release of a vaccine, readers are shown a Ryan that's struggling with all that came before.  He's mentally and emotionally struggling with all the deaths he witnessed and couldn't stop and it was a heartbreaking sight to see.  Despite all the pain he still loves being a doctor, but can this workaholic be able to balance the play he so richly needs alongside his work?  It's a bumpy balancing act to get to the answer in this sweet and sensual journey to HEA.
Kendall's an appealing heroine, but she hasn't found her place in the world yet which adds to Ryan's belief that she's nothing but a pretty face.  He's never bothered looking beyond the facade she shows the world to be the smart and sassy young woman she reveals herself to be here.  She's a kindhearted young woman, sweet, with big ideas for what she wants her life to be like and as she and Ryan engage in heartfelt talks she shows a deeper side to herself that was immensely likable.
Kendall and Ryan have been adversaries for years, but when it comes down to just the two of them the attraction brewing between them can no longer be ignored.  Their time in isolation is teeming with sexual tension, deep talks that put their hearts on the line, and though they seem like opposites they fit together beautifully.  It was an enjoyable journey to HEA between these former enemies, a journey that pulled at my heartstrings while endearing themselves to me wholeheartedly.  Along with getting deeper insights into this main couple, readers get an update on the couple from the previous book, a couple whose lives intersect with this story's couple.  Cami and Eli are getting ready for their next life step, still going strong together, and with a tantalizing event late in this story, I'm looking forward to what comes next in a well-crafted series I highly recommend!
My rating for this is an A-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
