Book Tour for Bound to You by K.A. M'Lady (Review & GIVEAWAY)

I'm starting off the month of November featuring a favorite theme of mine...sci-fi.  K.A. M'Lady is here today with her latest release, Bound to You, which combines fast-paced sci-fi elements with a bit of the paranormal.  Keep reading to get a taste of this book, along with my impressions of it, and make sure to fill out the form for your chance to win a beautiful pair of crystal earrings!

Under the dark skies of Vranthia The Wasting has spread, claiming victims by the thousands. Disease, madness and death shroud this fierce warrior race.
With the recent death of their mother, Queen Srionna Balacjek, and the imminent demise of their grieving father, King Kamet; three brothers must now find their own path. Will The Wasting’s dark madness claim them all as deceit and lies turn brother against brother. Or, is the key to saving their people in the legend of the trion. And will they find it in time?
Draven Balacjek -- warrior, Prince, immortal. Fierce in battle, sure and deadly as a dark a storm or the shadows he walks among, must choose between the ties of brotherhood or the possibility of a life without the parts of his soul he has bound in blood and magic.
The Vranthians have taken everything from Ook. Desecrated the Darengy people as a whole. But the visions of a grave-warrior tell no lies and the spirit of the human along with the fierce strength of his Prince, Draven Balacjek call to him as nothing before. Can their love together heal the wounds that time has wrought and free him of his darkness?
For singer, Leah Allen, the choice was never hers to make. But life, like the music her heart clings to, has a way of playing itself out. Will this strange new world and the fierce warriors she meets within it bring her shattered past the healing she has always needed or will the strangers she finds herself bound to be her hearts undoing? Can she make a choice between dark, intense Draven and exotic, muscular Ook?

“Are you certain she has no memory?” he repeated to sink himself back into this reality.
If he recalled correctly, the woman’s name was Latronda. She owned the bar, and over the course of the past few years, had taken in many refugees. Draven’s own rough voice seemed to fill the shadows, stirring thedarkness and ending the silence.
“As certain as one can be in these matters, my Lord,” Latrondra starkly replied.
Her truth hung heavy in the air between them. He wondered, for the first time, how many waifs Kantella had dumped at her doorstep. How many wounded she’d taken such great strides to hide and repair.
“Your brother dumped her here two weeks ago, beaten, broken. The girl is lucky to be alive.”
No soft words between us, then, he thought with an inward smile. Good. “What were his orders?”
Latronda glanced at the warrior beside her. His large frame filled the small enclosure of her safe-room with a silent, caged fury. It convulsed through the air like a small force field, but Prince Draven Balacjek needed no additional powers to display his fierceness.
He was a man of few words and fewer friends. A man that, with his brother, Prince Kuthar, led the Vranthians and their army with a ferocity that few who’d crossed them would ever live to see the passing of another night.
She stood alone with him now off the back of her bar where she’d helped many like the girl who lay before; stolen from other planets. These were the used, beaten and left for dead when they were found unable or unworthy of bearing the Vranthians offspring. Yes, there was definitely something there in his silence, in his dark green eyes that gave her pause.
“Keep her or kill her, he told me,” Latronda advised, sparing no softness to her words. It was of little matter. They both knew his brother, Prince Kantella well. His brutality was legend, as was his bid for his father’s throne. They all knew that whoever planted seed first and gave their people an heir would be in succession. And Kantella intended to rule, no matter the cost.
“He also said that I could sell her to a damn Vegadrone for all he cared. That she was a useless, barren, waste of creation. Then he dumped her in the alley and left.”
Uninhibited, a growl rumbled past Draven’s lips. It stirred the hair at the nape of Latronda’s neck, her flesh pimpling with chill. It had been a century and more since anyone had caused fear to slink its way inside her belly. Not since their people had learned that there was no cure for The Wasting, that their women were dying and no new children were to be bred, had Latronda felt such trepidation. But this?
The look in her Prince’s eyes while he gazed upon the broken, tiny human with anger, pain, and…wantfloating in their dark depths...these things made her fear.
“She will die without your aid,” Latronda told him plainly.
For several moments Draven stared at the small human woman, her breathing shallow, the pale lightenhancing the stain of bruised flesh beneath her right eye, her swollen, split and battered bottom lip. The other wounds he could not see, but he knew that once he partook of her blood and gave her his own for the healing, he would know of them all.
“Once I do it, the initial binding will begin,” he stated, his gaze never wavering from the girl. “There will be no undoing of this.”
“I could have one of the others do it, if that is your wish,” she softly stated.
Draven growled his reply. In a blink he had the girl in his arms where she lay like a small bird, her raven dark hair a stark relief against the Prince’s pale flesh.
Then, as gently as he could, he tilted her head, pressed his lips to her neck and pierced her flesh with his fangs.

With just under 100 pages Ms. M'Lady manages to create a surprisingly complex and full story featuring plenty of action scenes, nice worldbuilding, and a slow building romance that culminates in a steamy threesome.  Strong-willed heroine Leah is still recovering from the loss of her husband and child when her first date (who's mysterious and handsome) in a long time turns evil and kidnaps her to a galaxy far, far away.  Discovering that she can't get pregnant he leaves her beaten and broken in the alleyway of a bar.  The only one who can save her is Prince Draven which results in an unexpected connection that alters their lives forever.

Just when it looks like Leah has made a life for herself in this new world, her nightmare returns and she's catapulted into a race to stay one step ahead of the crazed and vile Kantella with Draven having to fight against his twin brother once again in defense of a woman.  This leads to numerous heart-pounding scenes of a battle amongst the stars that ends up back where the story started which sets up an intriguing storyline for the next book.  All through this battle Leah stayed strong.  She quickly accepted the changes to her life and made the best of things.  She's immediately drawn to Draven and in times of need it's his quiet countenance she relies on to comfort her.  Her connection to him is so strong that she'd put her life on the line to keep him safe.

Draven's experienced loss in his past too and still carries the guilt around.  He's appalled by his twin brother's actions and knows that he must kill him for the kidnapping and slavery of women to end.  He too is immediately drawn to Leah and has come to realize that their joining could change the future of his people as its women are dying of The Wasting.  First though he must save her life and to do that he must rely on help from the quiet yet brave and brawny Ook, a warrior from childhood myths.  Ook's people are of an ancient race that Draven's forefathers all but destroyed but he's now the final key in saving Draven's people.  Their final bonding on the road to a HEA involves a hot and heavy threesome with blood being exchanged that brings them even closer together both in mind and body.

While this action-packed battle takes place off-world, the Kingdom is being ruled by Kuthar who is the brainy one and used to being in command as it was how he was raised.  He's also lonely and a bit jealous of what Draven has found with Leah and Ook.  That's why the conclusion of this story promises a battle between the sexes for him in the future after coming into contact with the very vocal human, Cyn.  As the small glimpses I got of him were compelling, I look forward to his interactions with her.  Another part of the story left hanging is that of Kantella, whose reign of terror continues in a scream-worthy ending.  The worldbuilding was subtle yet nicely done in this story as much of the action took place in space.  The mythology and the blending of the paranormal was intriguing though a bit confusing with more time needed to fully explain things.  The characters were nicely fleshed-out and I found myself able to connect with them and become fully immersed in their outcomes.  On a whole I found myself impressed by all that Ms. M'Lady accomplished in so few pages and look forward to revisiting this world again soon.

My rating for this is a B+

Author K.A. M’Lady lives a few stone throws from corn fields, chaos and congestion; all lying on the outskirts of the many burbs of Chicago. KA M'lady spends her days calculating life expectancies, mortality and the certainty of death and taxes while in her free time the dead wander freely, buy shoes, homes, the occasional odd business or two and, if you even think of charging them too much in taxes…well, let’s just say the tax man may never come back. But if he does he might just shamble a bit.
An All Romance eBooks bestselling author, K.A. M'lady's work has been described as scary, descriptive, beautiful, dark, frightening, addictive, sexy and believable. She loves to read paranormal romances, watching horror movies, westerns on Sundays with her husband, playing fetch with her pocket beagle, Chevy and buying weird shoes. Her friends call her eccentric, her family refuses to comment. She’s been lost in the world of fiction since she was a small child, and frankly, never wants to be found—at least not any time soon. “Myth and magic builds dreams and inspirations – and in an insane world, it is our dreams that spark the revolution of change. No matter which world is being conquered. Within our dreams – all things are possible.”
