Today Cynthia Sax is making a return visit to my site with her latest erotic read, Breaking All the Rules.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of this book, along with my impressions of it, and learn even more about this book from the other blogs hosting this tour.  Make sure to fill out the form below to win a digital collection of Ms. Sax's Seen Trilogy too!

Camille, the heroine of Breaking All The Rules, hasn’t met a rule she doesn’t want to break. She’s an intern for a very conservative high tech company. This company has a rigid dress code. Camille sports green hair, tattoos and piercings. They have a rule about not working on personal projects at work. Camille spends every lunch hour designing an app for a charity project. She’s broken into her very patient boss’ filing cabinets, hacked into computer systems, takes three hour stress-reducing breaks in the middle of the day.
Camille doesn’t hurt anyone. As she often says, she’s all about peace and love and freedom. She simply wants to prove she can do these things, that the rules don’t and shouldn’t apply to everyone.
Nate, the hero of Breaking All The Rules, is the company’s inflexible CFO. Although he makes and upholds many of the rules, he is unrepentant about breaking laws he thinks are foolish. He, for example, pays for sex. That’s illegal in many states including California, where he resides. He knows the shredding rooms and the elevators are monitored by security cameras. This doesn’t stop him from having fun with Camille in both spaces. He follows rules but they are HIS rules.
I’m a writer and writers aren’t known for following rules or laws or societal norms. We push boundaries as Camille does. We question everything. I was told a New York publisher such as Avon would never be interested in erotic romances, would never be interested in shorter works (Breaking All The Rules is approximately 200 pages), would never be interested in serials (the first story in Sinful Rewards, my second serial with Avon, will release in July). I didn’t care. I wrote and pitched the stories to Avon anyway. And they surprised everyone by saying yes.
Breaking rules can be risky. Rules exist for our protection and the average person should follow them. But we’re not always ‘average people’. In some situations, we will the exceptions, the people the rules don’t apply to.
Have you ever been the exception? Have you ever broken a rule? This could be a personal rule (for example, I don’t like my food to touch), a company rule (no jeans during the work week), or a society rule (shaking with your right hand).

Nathan Lawford, Blaine Technologies' chief financial officer, is known as the Iceman. He conducts his personal and business affairs without emotion, never allowing himself to become involved with anyone. When Nate sees something or someone he wants, he negotiates, paying a simple, set monetary price.
Now he wants Camille, the company's green-haired intern.
Camille Joplin Trent never expected to be paid to pleasure the man of her dreams. She can't quite figure out why this is a bad thing. Nate is intelligent, handsome, sophisticated—everything she's ever wanted in a lover and never thought she could have. Their contract is for a month, thirty lust-filled days of making every sexual fantasy they've ever had come true. At the end of this month, the rules state that their relationship will end.
Of course, Camille has never been good at following rules.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of the opposites attract theme I found this a delightful read from start to finish and the perfect follow-up to Flashes of Me where we first met these compelling characters, though this can definitely be read on its own.  From its likable characters to its steamy and erotically-charged romance that shows surprising depth as their relationship develops and they learn more about each other, I found myself completely immersed in their romantic tug of war.

Camille is an entertaining and unconventional heroine with her tats, piercings, and green hair.  She's a wild child from a family of hippies and never met a rule she didn't want to break and isn't afraid to circumvent the law to get what she wants.  She's a carefree woman who loves challenges and sees things as a game.  Her latest and biggest challenge is the Iceman Nathan whose life revolves around order and rules as these things keep you from being hurt.  As a child he learned that lesson harshly and it keeps him closed off.  He can't help but be drawn to her against his better judgment as something about her calls to him and makes him want to be a better man.  As their relationship that started out as a game deepens they discover that love means accepting and embracing the other for who they are.  Their differences make them stronger as individuals and as a couple.

From its likable main couple to their witty banter to the sexual tension of their combustible relationship theirs was an enjoyable and immensely satisfying journey to HEA.  Though the storyline was familiar the delightful characters set it apart from the rest and made for an endearing read.  This was another great read by Ms. Sax that will have me coming back for more!

My rating for this is an A.

*I received this book from Edelweiss for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
