LET'S GET TO KNOW MS. JAMIESON......
How would you describe this series to someone who has not read any of the books but is intrigued by the concept?
Hmmm…the underlying theme of the series is to accept yourself for who you are, which is played out with couples who have some mildly kinky sexual preferences, but who also have some emotional baggage that causes them to doubt themselves. Dominant alpha heroes go after the women they love, but those women don’t make it easy for them.
How did you come up with the idea for this story?
I had the idea for the beginning of the story a long time ago – two people meet in an airport, when they’re both at a difficult time in their lives. Their flight gets delayed and they end up sharing more about themselves with a stranger than they have with anyone else. It just took me a while to figure out the rest of their story.
Will you write more about these characters?
Mallory and Joe appear in Playing Dirty, out in January. But that is the end of this series (although I never say NEVER, and there could be more Windy City Kink books!)
What is for you the perfect book hero?
I love all kinds of heroes. I love super alpha dominant guys as long as they’re protective and caring. They can screw up but they have to admit it and grovel. I like beta heroes too, guys who are maybe a bit geeky or brainy rather than brawny, and I most especially, especially love a hero with a sense of humor. Obviously, this is true in real life too! Make me laugh and you’ve got me. Regardless of whether they’re alpha or beta, I love a hero who is strong and loyal and courageous and will make sacrifices for the one he loves.
What are your current projects?
Ack, so many things in the works! I’m working on a new hockey series. Books 1 & 2 are done and book 3 is started. I just handed in a book to my Samhain editor that I’m SUPER excited about. It’s book 1 of a planned series set in a Chicago advertising agency. I am SO in love with Levi, the hero! He is the funniest, sexiest dominant hero I’ve ever written. And I have a couple of stand-alone romances that are in the editing process.

Play the piano. (I don’t know…is that surprising? I also speak French and know how to sew, refinish antique furniture, and make a fabulous roast beef and Yorkshire pudding…)

If he’s a mistake, she’s ready to make him her favorite mistake.
Mallory Hurst has tried to live a life that makes up for past mistakes. But now she faces a huge ethical dilemma. Her pharmaceutical company’s unapproved, off-label use of a medication puts lives at risk, and her protests have fallen on deaf ears.
Hoping a trip home will clear her head, she boards a plane for California. And strikes up a conversation with a handsome stranger.
Joe Mason recently learned that the man he’s called father all his life… isn’t. At least that explains why he never measured up to his older brothers. Flying to meet his biological father for the first time, he meets a sleek, sexy woman who makes him want to mess up her perfect hair.
Shared conversation leads to a shared drink between flights, then when their flight is canceled, a shared bed overnight—where their rush of attraction explodes into a night of much-needed kinky fun.
Yet a night of hot, messy sex won’t fix anything—in fact, blowing off steam could have blown their lives all to hell…

Fans of erotica will find much to like in this read that is both familiar but with a touch of uniqueness in presenting its brand of kink. As the second installment in the Windy City Kink series it can easily stand on its own but with its own brand of comfort reading you'll likely want to read the previous installment too. With its likable main characters and appealing group of secondary characters it's easy to get drawn into this erotic world where two people take time away from life's pressures for a bit of sexual relief that ultimately becomes more.
Mallory was once a wild child who has locked that side away, but when pressures at work mount she's left feeling like she's going to explode. On a trip home to relax though she encounters the super sexy Joe which leads to a travel layover like no other where he encourages her to indulge. What follows are numerous scorching encounters along with a bit of unique fetish that brings both of them closer together despite what they thought they wanted initially. Mallory is a smart and likable heroine dealing with a serious issue that is unfortunately wrapped up too easily. She prided herself on forcing her wild side into submission but it left her choking and it's no wonder she jumped at what Joe was offering. All of this left me cheering for her and Joe to admit what they had together.
Joe too is dealing with heavy issues which has left him very tense and on edge. He just found out that the man who raised him, and emotionally abused him, wasn't his real father. While traveling to meet his biological father he encounters Mallory and sparks immediately fly. To outsiders he may appear serious-minded and domineering but with Mallory he shows a softer side. For too long he's closed himself off wary of opening his heart as his past taught him. With Mallory though he can finally open up and their mutual exploration proves that. He's a delightfully sexy and supportive lover and their sexual interludes crackle.
This was an entertaining story with a good flow that nicely balances the steamy side with the serious. The main characters are likable and easy to relate to with a connection teeming with sexual tension. Joe's friends are equally likable and I found myself wanting to know more about them. All in all this was a sexy story with familiar elements that brought comfort and entertainment to my reading experience and I recommend this book to those wanting an immensely satisfying read.
My rating for this is a B+
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

AUTHOR INFO:
Kelly Jamieson writes romances with heat that's sweet. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. If she can stop herself from reading or writing, she loves to cook. She has shelves of cookbooks that she reads at length. She also enjoys gardening in the summer, and in the winter she likes to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues (there might be a theme here...) She also loves shopping, especially for clothes and shoes. But her family takes precedence over everything else (yes, even writing). She has two teenage children who are the best kids in the world, not that she’s biased, and a wonderful husband who does loads of laundry while she plays on the computer writing stories.
