Fans of the m/m genre will find much to enjoy in this next installment in the ARe ALPHA Series. Keep reading to get a glimpse of Jumping In by Cardeno C, along with my impressions of it, and then add it to our bookshelf.
When love's on the line, the brave jump in with both feet...
Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.
Enter gorgeous deputy-mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.
Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Those looking for a fast-paced story of insta-love with lots of steam will find this a fun journey to HEA. When two apparent opposites give in to a weekend of indulgence the sparks fly as does the unrelenting sexual tension as they finally face their feelings head-on.
After Clint's stint in the military he decided to start over in small-town America as he was tired of living a lie. The lies continued though as he started a relationship with a man firmly in the closet who treated him as his dirty little secret. Just when everything seems to be going wrong, a man who's been subtly wooing him for months finally takes the plunge to make him admit the truth about himself and what he feels. I felt sympathetic towards Clint early on as he was endearing. Even with so many negative things befalling him Clint addressed it all with humor. He's a sweet and charming man who clearly feels alone. His interactions with his disabled and scarred dogs show a caring man though, one who wants love but his scared to open his heart.
Deputy Mayor Hawk has absolutely no problems expressing his emotions and knew what he felt for Clint since the first time he saw him. He's open about himself and is a kindhearted man who woos Clint as he so richly deserves. He's older and wiser and it's a big moment for Clint when Hawk acknowledges their affections in public which made me like Hawk even more.
This was a super steamy story with a few very erotic encounters. Though the romance was fast for Clint it felt believable for Hawk as he considered himself in love from afar for many months. There are sweet and humorous moments too to balance out the intense eroticism which keeps you juggling your emotions. All in all it's an entertaining story that's ultimately the culmination of a sexy dream which leaves you with a smile on your face and gives you a bit of afternoon delight.
My rating for this is a B.
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
AUTHOR INFO:
Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations.
Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
