If one barbarian is lethal, two are even more dangerous...in bed.
Earther Skye Jones arrives to rescue her friend from a barbarian kidnapping knowing she’ll be throwing away her chances of a dream job on planet Ussed. With her skills, she doesn’t anticipate being captured by a group of sexy soldiers. Or that she’ll fall for their charismatic squad leader. Then, as if that’s not bad enough, Skye is brought to their encampment to meet their clan leader—a hulking warrior who sets her blood afire.
When the mating instinct takes over, Skye finds herself with not one, but two bed partners. But is her life meant to be lived among the uncivilized? Before Skye can decide who and what she wants, the choice is taken out of her hands by an enemy clan. And if she’s not careful, she’ll lose a lot more than a stubborn heart.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
A Civilized Mating is anything but civilized as two barbarians fight their way through personal doubts and threats from others to make a woman not of their world their own. Along the way are numerous sexual encounters that left me parched.
Skye has always felt separate from her family as her psychic powers aren't as strong as theirs. She's also felt out of place amongst other females as she has the build and spirit of a warrior. That's why she'll sacrifice all for the one friend she does have as she throws away the career she's fought for for years to rush headlong into danger to save her friend from a lusty barbarian. What she doesn't count on is meeting her own lusty barbarian whose connection to her is instantaneous and crackling with sensuality. Throw in an even sexier and dominating alpha, with a steamy connection to the warrior set on claiming her, and it all makes for an energetic and sex-fueled tale. Skye is a strong-willed female who's more than capable of taking care of herself. She's desperate to find her place in the world though and doesn't want to be defined by the two warriors who would sacrifice all for her which leaves her conflicted until the very end.
Talzec has tried to keep his emotions at bay since the death of his mate. With each passing day his urges consume him but as leader he can't show weakness. Thankfully his beta, and lover, Xav is there to keep him in control. But they both know that more women are needed to keep their clan thriving and their warriors strong. When it becomes obvious that off-worlders are compatible with their kind it leads to the end of a treaty in place for hundreds of years and a dangerous threat from a rival clan. Talzec and Xav are a formidable pair and it's clear from the start that only Skye could be their match both physically and mentally as she's equally strong-willed. Xav is more in-touch with his emotions and not afraid to say what he feels. Talzec is a quiet and commanding presence but is letting his past dictate his future. Once he can finally admit to himself what he truly feels for Skye though it might be too late as a vicious rival clan leader seeks to destroy Talzec by kidnapping Skye.
This is an intensely erotic story with lots of sexual interludes, both m/m, m/f, and ménage pairings. These scenes are almost too numerous and became a bit blasé as the story progressed. Skye is a likable heroine who unfortunately quickly gets lost in a sexual haze the moment she meets Xav. I enjoyed her more when she was verbally and physically overpowering the barbarians as there was an inner joy to her actions. Xav and Talzec are both sexy and I enjoyed their playful yet dominating encounters with one another as they were both brotherly and loving. This was ultimately a quick read with vividly detailed worldbuilding. Though there's a definitive HEA it's clear there's more stories to tell as other barbarians are set to wage a sexual war on other female off-worlders.
My rating for this is a B-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
