Book Review Blitz for Destiny by Clara Fox (REVIEW)

A woman’s life changes irrevocably as she goes from singing karaoke to singing onstage in this rock star romance full of colorful characters and their path to stardom.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Destiny by Clara Fox, along with getting my impressions of this contemporary tale, then add this first installment in the Last Moment series to your bookshelf!

Alexandra “Alex” Walton has the life she always wanted for herself. A stable career with plenty of advancement opportunity, Paige, her best friend of a decade as her roommate, and best of all, her amazing boyfriend of three years, attorney Ryan Stewart.
One night Alex and Paige are out having some harmless karaoke fun, when an unreal opportunity presents itself. With her best friend by her side every step of the way, Alex takes on this new experience to see if her dreams could really come true. To be the lead singer of a rock band is not a position you are offered every day. Especially a band that has entered a showcase competition, where the grand prize is the chance to open for a multi-platinum selling group of rockers that is currently on a worldwide tour. That famous band is also fronted by none other than the sinfully sexy, Noah Dreagan, who seems to be drawn to Alex, and emits an energy that could easily pull her in.
Battling nerves and insecurities, Alex digs deep inside to find a confidence she had long forgotten, and embarks on a journey that leaves her questioning whether she still believes that everything happens for a reason.
“What happens when ‘Destiny’ comes along and changes everything?”

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

When it comes to rock star romances I’ve certainly read my fair share of them and found much to like about this series starter that set itself apart from the crowd.  With the release of this first installment in the Last Moment series a woman goes from singing karaoke to singing onstage in an exhilarating journey that captivated me after a somewhat slow start.  With each turn of the page though the action and emotions intensified to leave readers on the edge of their seats courtesy of a cliffhanger.

Alex Walton has always loved singing, but it’s always been just a hobby, something she reserved for after work hours as she could never see herself being a success at it.  One night at a karaoke club though changes everything for her as a talent agent offers her the chance of a lifetime....to be the lead singer of a newly-formed band ready to enter a competition.  It’s a competition that will have the winner as the opening act on a tour with a popular rock band.  It’s a moment that changes everything for her, and those closest to her, and the first step in a journey that readers get to be a part of every step of the way.  Alex is a likable heroine with a lot of hidden talent just waiting to be unleashed on the world.  She’s full of uncertainties, full of self-doubts too, but luckily has a strong support system with her friend Paige and her boyfriend Ryan.  Paige is a wild child, full of energy and flirtatiousness.  She captures every man’s attentions, leaving Alex feeling like a second fiddle once or twice, but is immensely likable and always pushing Alex to the top and talking her up at every turn.  She’s a good friend through everything, supportive and protective and someone you can easily see yourself hanging out with.  There’s an air of mystery surrounding her though when it comes to the men in this story.  There’s definite chemistry between her and music exec Matthew as well as incendiary looks between her and Parker.  I look forward to seeing more of her in the future and am definitely curious about her love life and I hope that it will take center stage at some point.  Then there’s Ryan, Alex’s boyfriend of three years, a loyal and down to earth man who’s supportive of her...except for one scene that left a bad taste in my mouth.  There’s also moments of jealousy that radiate off him and that have me doubting that Alex’s HEA is meant to be with him.  That doesn’t mean that he wasn’t sweet and sexy, it just left me wondering about their future as a couple.  All this makes for an interesting trio of friends who are all newbies in this rock star world and I’m curious to see how they handle the decisions that will need to be made as the story moves forth.

Alongside this strong trio of characters are the rest of Last Moment, bandmates to Alex who accepted her wholeheartedly from the start.  They looked to her to set the pace and it led them to the cusp of fame.  They’re a likable group with sexy looks and compelling backgrounds just hinted at.  While they respect Alex’s relationship with Ryan they still flirted with her occasionally...as did Noah, lead singer to the band they’ll be touring with.  Noah oozes sex appeal and their first meeting was electric.  It’s clear that there’s something between them, a spark that has me on edge as readers are left waiting with bated breath after one heckuva cliffhanger.  All in all it’s a satisfying start to what promises to be a sexy journey to fame, fortune, and HEA!

My rating for this is a B+

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
