An unforgettable hero, and a heroine who’s more than his equal, bond over talk of murder in this gritty contemporary read! Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Nobody Cares Unless You’re Pretty by Lani Lynn Vale, along with my impressions of it, then add this first installment in the Gator Bait series to your bookshelf!
The problem with Wake was that he was understandable. He was the type of villain that literally scared the absolute shit out of you because you knew that under the right circumstances, you could end up exactly like him.
Which, sadly, was the case for me.
I’d done the exact same thing as Wake, and now I was a murderer just like him.
Did I know that I did wrong? Hell yes.
Did I regret that? Hell no.
Did I plan on changing a thing? Also, no.
Was I falling in love with a man that should scare the shit out of me? A resounding hell yes.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Lani Lynn Vale is back with this compelling series starter full of greys that uses murder to bring an unforgettable pair together. It's a fast-paced story, like many of Ms. Vale's books are, and with each turn of the page I became more and more invested in this eclectic pair. Along with this decadently delightful main couple, readers discover a whole new cast of characters, members of the Gator Bait MC, a thoroughly entertaining group whose banter crackled and whose reasons for joining the MC added a unique layer to the story.
Wake's a legend to the denizens of his hometown, a strong and caring man who's not afraid to dirty his hands in the name of doing good. He's a good father with a loving heart, an outspoken man who doesn't sugarcoat things. He's not your usual MC hero, and for that I'm truly grateful as I enjoyed getting to see all the layers that make up Wake. He and Dutch sizzle from the very start, bonding over talk of murder, and it's the first step to them becoming something more. Upon meeting Dutch, Wake is all in with her! He claims her when she least expects it and it leads to an unforgettable romance and a formidable pairing. Dutch is a perfect pairing to Wake, a loving and caring woman full of sass who will do whatever necessary to protect others. Her first meeting with Wake set them on an unforgettable path, defined who they are in a world already full of greys.
Ms. Vale has crafted another winner! She's given readers an unforgettable hero, one not easily defined, and given us reasons to root for him. The heroine too is more than capable of being his equal and I loved seeing the sensual dance they did around each other. This is a steamy story too with a nice bit of suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat. As I raced breathlessly through this book I'm left clamoring for more, tempted by the stories of MC members introduced to us here, and deftly crafted by the talented Ms. Vale!
My rating for this is an A-
