Book Release Blast for Forever Flames by Kaylene Winter (REVIEW)…..

Fans of rockstar romances will find themselves drawn to this tale of second chances and a first love that now wants to be a last love.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Forever Flames by Kaylene Winter, along with my impressions of it, then add this fourth installment in the Charming Irish series to your bookshelf!

Twenty years. One unforgettable flame. Some love stories never burn out.

I never wanted fame.

All I ever needed was her.

Stevie Hayes set my world on fire from the moment we met.

First kiss. First love. First time. The girl next door who became my whole future.

Late-night rehearsals. Promises whispered in the dark. A fire so intense it felt eternal.

She believed in me when no one else did.

Then life pulled us apart.

Different paths. Different cities. A slow unraveling I never saw coming.

I thought letting her go would set her free.

Instead, it broke us.

Years later, tragedy brings us back together.

Older now. Scarred. Still burning for something we never stopped wanting.

Old wounds resurface. Hard truths come to light.

The spark? It never left.

We were never supposed to fall apart.

Now I’ll fight like hell to put us back together.

Forever Flames is a swoon-worthy, second-chance rockstar romance packed with emotional angst, soul-deep devotion, and the kind of once-in-a-lifetime love that never truly dies.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Rockstar romances are my catnip and this book definitely captured my attention while playing with my heartstrings.  It kept me glued to the pages, entertained by all the angst and ups and downs of two past loves reconnecting after tragedy.  From the sweetness of young love, to the heartbreak of letting go, to finding your way back to what's meant to be…. This story put me through the emotional wringer in another well crafted tale from Ms. Winter.

Padraig McGloughlin and Stevie Hayes met as children, next door neighbors who slowly became more over the years.  They were each other's firsts in every way before fate had them going their separate ways in pursuit of dreams.  Years later they find themselves once again within arm's length, navigating feelings of regret and uncertainty in a journey that was sometimes frustrating but always inevitable.  When it comes to heroes, Padraig showed himself to be a bit imperfect.  He's a man with a good heart who's quick to sacrifice his happiness for others.  At times too his words could be hurtful as his insecurities had him lashing out.  But these imperfections made him all the more real and his decision to finally fight for Stevie ultimately had me rooting for him.  Stevie too left me frustrated at times, her choices leaving me bewildered, but her struggles were all too human and it made their pairing even more emotional.

Readers looking for a story full of rollercoaster emotions will find this a perfectly imperfect romance, a tale of a second chance meant to be.  Along with a compelling main couple, there were glimpses of past characters as well as focusing a bit more on Liam (Padraig's twin brother), who will take the lead in the next installment in the Charming Irish series.  On a whole, this was a realistic romance with characters you could relate to in a journey to HEA that was full of bumps and bruises that will keep you glued to the pages.

My rating for this is a B.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Ian and Harlow have been in each other's lives since they were children, thick as thieves, with an unbreakable bond of care and support.  Once they graduated high school though, everything changed as life took them in opposite directions.  After ten years apart they end up back in their hometown where they can no longer ignore long-simmering feelings in a slow-burn journey to HEA.  It's a journey made even more heartfelt by the inclusion of her daughter, Sage, along with the rest of the Wilder family as their support for this family in the making is unwavering.

Ian is a bit of a grump, a bit stoic and serious, at least that's how the world sees him. When he's reunited with his childhood friend that softer side comes out again as he will do everything to help her succeed...especially by having her stay in his home to help fuel her writing.  Whereas Harlow's parents cause writer's block, he provides all sorts of naughty thoughts.  Add in his endearing interactions with Sage, the kind that makes your uterus hurt, and it's clear that Ian and Harlow were always meant to be.  Their relationship felt natural from the start, built slowly through tender moments that warmed my heart.  Before now, they'd always fought against the feelings simmering between them, but this time around they decided to take a chance and I was totally there for it!  Though I normally like my romance books a bit steamier, I still found much to enjoy about this sweet and heartwarming friends to lovers story!

My rating for this is a B+

Book Release Blitz for Aflame by Talita Lawrence (REVIEW)…..

It's a second chance at romance for former childhood friends in this fake relationship set amidst a backdrop of the rockstar world.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Aflame by Talita Lawrence, along with my impressions of it, then add this first installment in the Scarlet Love series to your bookshelf!

Aria
We used to be friends but drifted apart. Over the years, I’d drowned him out. Pity he was now a rock star whose face graced magazines worldwide.
But one day, he came knocking on my door, needing help. Unfortunately, it meant my heart was on the line a second time.
From ashes we rose, burning brightly once again. Hearts aflame, but in the end, it was just a game.
Austin
I found her as I was near drowning, and she threw me a lifeline. Fate brought Aria into my life again years after losing touch. I needed help cleaning up my tarnished image in the media, and she was perfect for the job of my pretend girlfriend with her beauty, wit, and charm. But most of all, she was about as interested in a relationship with me, as I was in one with her.
Slowly, she lit me up inside. Why was this fake relationship starting to feel like the most real thing I had in my life?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Fans of second chance romances, of unrequited love, will find much to enjoy in this tale set amidst the rockstar world.  From moments of angst, to moments of heartbreak, readers see two characters who were always meant to be together finally find their HEA.

Austin and Aria were friends as children.  Aria was rather quiet but was a solid support to Austin, who she loved with all the love in her young heart.  Austin saw her only as his friend and instead went for the woman who'd become a longtime thorn in Aria's side.  In their years apart, she's gained confidence and is no longer blinded by the boy who's now become all man.  His life's changed too, with him becoming a famous rockstar.  There's one thing that has remained the same though...Geneva.  She's the young girl who took Austin out of Aria's life, while bullying her throughout their youth, and is now Austin's ex and bent on dragging his reputation through the mud.  While Geneva was once the impetus in pulling the friends apart, she's now the reason they end up back in each other's lives.  With Geneva talking badly about him, and with his reputation and career in tatters, he needs Aria to help him clean up his image by playing his new girlfriend.  Time spent together allows their friendship to return along with the underlying attraction that sparks to life in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and truths.

In a romance of second chances, I was happy to see Austin more than willing to put in the work (and grovel) to earn Aria's love.  I liked Aria's newfound confidence and her dealing with Austin with her eyes now wide open.  Theirs is a poignant journey, heartbreaking at times when looking back to their youth, with moments of steam now in their adulthood, as they try to find a future while moving on from the past.  Austin and Aria have a crackling connection that I enjoyed for its realism and the maturity that they gained over the years.  With its simple and sensual storyline there was much to like about the journey these two took, but there was an intrusion that frustrated me.  Geneva was very stereotypical and I almost booed and hissed whenever she came on the scene.  Despite her scenes being a distraction, I was still charmed by Austin and Aria and immensely satisfied by the time I reached The End.

My rating for this is a B.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a quadriplegic, I'm drawn to stories featuring less than perfect characters.  I'm drawn to the realities of their lives and the emotional high and lows that make up each day.  With this new release Ms. Adams has crafted a book that pulled me in and spat me out a time or two.  In presenting the harsh realities of life and death, she put me through the emotional wringer, leaving me teary-eyed and in the fetal position a time or two.

The premise of this book is simple as childhood friends, who are opposites in many ways, engage in a marriage of convenience after he's diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.  Encouraged by his mother's dying words, he's determined to work through his Bucket List, all with the support of his new wife by his side.

Jude and Eve are thrown together quickly and it took me a while to warm up to them, especially Jude.  He's studious and stoic, weighed down by the knowledge of the pain to come, so the care and warmth Eve brought to their pairing was much-needed and greatly appreciated.  Their time together was teeming with harsh realities and tears over their time together racing towards a conclusion.  Along with some moments of happiness and joy were moments depicting the ravages of cancer.  These scenes broke my heart and it made me admire Eve all the more for her standing by Jude.  From these emotional lows, to a few moments of smiles and affectionate interactions, this book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions.  Knowing there was a time limit on their pairing added extra weight to this story.  Though I knew what kind of conclusion was coming, I still kept hoping Ms. Adams would veer in a different direction.  That's not to say that the ending was disappointing...at least not for me.  It was an ending that pulled at my heartstrings, was realistic, and left me feeling at peace.  On a whole this was a quick read taking readers on an emotionally intense journey of living life to the fullest, embracing love in all its forms, while actually communicating what's in your heart.  It deals with the concept of religion and facing mortality head-on, it's bittersweet and poignant, and I'm still thinking about it long after reaching The End.

My rating for this is a B.

Book Release Blast for The Voices Are Back by Lani Lynn Vale (REVIEW)….

The time never seemed right for this compelling couple, a single father ex-con and a woman with health issues and an uncaring family, who finally get their chance of happiness if they can manage to push through all the roadblocks thrown their way.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of The Voices Are Back by Lani Lynn Vale, along with my impressions of this fifth installment in the Gator Bait series, then add it to your bookshelf too!

Her: Just a word, yet one person came to mind. Morrigan St. Pete.
The woman that’d been hounding my every step since the day she was born.
From the moment we first comforted each other in the hospital, to the day that I left her to follow her dreams, I knew that she was my one.
Through marriage, divorce, and a prison sentence, I had low expectations when it came to her ever coming around to my way of life. What kind of woman wanted a man that’d been to prison, had a child that disliked him and everything he stood for, and had zero prospects in life?
But then she popped into my life again, and that feeling of suffocation slacked off for the first time since I let her go.
***
The first time I tried to come back to Aodhan, I found him married with a kid on the way.
The second time I tried, he was heading to jail.
As one would say, the third time is the charm, right? Wrong.
The third time, he was divorced, fresh from prison, had a kid, and was again with his ex-wife.
That was the final nail in my coffin. I decided to give up.
I would do anything and everything I could to avoid him. Hiding wasn’t beneath me.
I only wish he’d stuck with my plan, because the moment he sees me again, it’s like he’s seen the light. Avoiding him is impossible when he goes out of his way to insinuate himself into every aspect of my life.
If only life was as perfect as my dreams.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Ms. Vale continues to entertain with this latest installment in the Gator Bait series, a story of second (and third) chances for HEA between two unique characters clearly meant to be together.  Though this is a story set in the MC world, the focus is less on the suspense and Club workings, and more on the love and emotional connection between two longtime friends who danced around being more throughout the years.  With each turn of the page I became more and more invested in the main couple, occasionally pulled out of the sensual haze surrounding them by the rough around the edges narrative, but despite that I still found myself falling for them hook, line, and sinker.

Aodhan McBanks has been a part of Morrigan's life since the day they were born, with her through the issues with her family and her poor health, loved her and labeled her "the one" in his heart and mind...but the time to claim her never seemed right.  She ends up being the "one who got away" until the day she passes out...right into his arms.  From that moment on the usually quiet man makes his feelings known through possessive words and deeds that put a smile on my face.  An alpha side emerges that shows him to be drool-worthy and sexy in his journey to show Morrigan that he's truly worthy of her.  Him calling her "Little Mama" still warms my heart and tickles my uterus.

Morrigan St. Pete is another of Ms. Vale's perfectly imperfect heroines...a plus-sized woman with heart issues and a disability that makes her pass out whenever her heart rate rises dramatically (POTS) which leaves her vulnerable and puts her in danger when the episodes occur.  Her mother tried to kill her before she was even born, while her father doesn't trust doctors and thinks Morrigan is faking her issues, which has left her lonely and feeling like she has to do everything on her own.  I was drawn to Morrigan from the very start, drawn to her perseverance and strong will to get up every time she's knocked down.  Needless to say, her blood family is one that pulls her down which is why she goes out to make one of her own choosing in a journey that warmed my heart.

The romance between Aodhan and Morrigan was a long time coming!  The connection between them was steamy from the start, full of unrequited love bursting at the seams, while adding in sweetness and sentimentality.  Morrigan's disability wasn't one I'd heard of before but it showed the toughness of this heroine in seeing her dealing with it and as a person with a disability myself I felt especially connected to her. Throughout the story Aodhan was a strong support who never saw Morrigan as less than as they dealt with POTS together.  On a whole, Ms. Vale's inclusion of POTS in the storyline was seamless and gave readers another of her characters to root for.  Along with such a perfectly imperfect main couple was an equally intriguing cast of secondary characters, some who became part of Morrigan's found family for all the love and support they showed her. Among those characters, and one who stands out the most, is Folsom...a caring friend to Morrigan who bursts onto the scene and shows herself to be larger than life.  She's bold and brash and I hope to see more of her in the future!  Aodhan’s son, Bowie, was a highlight too for his unexpected behavior.  As we get closer to the end of this series I realize how much I'm going to miss these unique characters...but until the end comes I'm going to gobble up each new release with a smile on my face.

My rating for this is an A-

MATTY

Rockstar. Heartthrob. Liability.

I’m the face, the body, a trophy for the masses.

They love to admire me, and I play the part like a pro. I can be whatever I have to be to survive.

But I’m not real. None of this is. How can it be with a past like mine? They think they know me, but no one does. The best I can do is chase another woman, substance, or scandal to escape the truth for one more day.

Peyton’s mom and my mom were best friends.
You’d think that should cover the gist of it. But, no…Oh, no.
Not even close.
You see, Mom and Aunt Donna (as I’d always called Peyton’s mother) were not simply just best friends; I’m saying they were the-same-person-inhabiting-two-different-bodies kind of best friends.
And thus, Peyton Royce had been forced on me since the moment she was born.
We were treated like twins, yet always expected to fall in love one day and get married. The only problem with that was I didn’t love Peyton. And I’m fairly certain she didn’t even like me in return.
Don’t get me wrong. I adored our moms—swear to God—but they had to let this stupid notion go, because one thing had become abundantly clear to me over the years. I would never marry Peyton Royce. I think it was my one goal in life, actually.
So…Sorry, Mom and Aunt Donna, but you two just weren’t going to get your way on this.
Peyton and I? It was never gonna happen.

EXCERPT:

Aria took her turn next. When she immediately turned toward me and Peyton, my stomach dipped with dread.
“York,” she smirked snidely. “Truth or dare?”
“Uh...” Damn. I shrugged, not sure what would be worse from her. I ended up going with, “Truth,” only to hold my breath and hope she didn’t ask about why I’d really broken up with her. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings and admit that I just didn’t feel any sparks.
But she glanced calculatingly between me and Peyton instead, then asked, “You two have known each other your whole lives, right?”
I frowned in confusion. “Uh, yeah. That’s your question?”
“No. My question is if you two have ever kissed before.”
“What? No!” I frowned at her for wasting her truth question on that and then glanced toward
Peyton, shaking my head to let her know my group of friends was clearly insane. She merely blushed and shrugged back.
And Wes took his turn next in the game.

“York!” he cheered. “Truth or dare?”
“Seriously?” I threw up my hands. “Why is everyone picking on me all of the sudden?” “Truth or dare?” Wes repeated, lifting a challenging eyebrow.
I didn’t like where Aria had been heading with her question about Peyton, so this time I said, “Dare.”
Wes looked at me with victory, letting me know I’d chosen wrong, right before he said, “I dare you to kiss Peyton.”

A daring widow. A determined duke. A story too wicked for the eyes of the ton...
Lady Georgiana, dowager duchess of Ashwood, emerges from a year of official mourning with her next steps firmly in mind. She will retreat to her beloved country estate, play merry matchmaker to her dearest friends, and write daring romance novels under a male pseudonym. Far from the prying eyes of the ton—and her late husband’s odious cousin.
But when her publisher wants to meet “Geoff Parker” in person, she gratefully accepts the help of Jeremy Graystone, childhood friend and heir to a dukedom. A man whose bronze, muscular good looks could tempt her to forget to keep him at arm’s length.
Years ago, Jeremy had to watch Georgiana’s family marry her off to another. Now the timing is finally right. But with Georgiana determined to relish her newfound freedom, he will be patient and plan for the day he will have her in his bed, his hands tangled in her spun-gold hair, her lapis blue eyes only for him.
And do whatever is necessary to keep her late husband’s greedy cousin from destroying her happiness...

EXCERPT:

Martin pushed his way into the solicitor’s office, acting as though he were the most important man in all of England.
She’d never met him before, but he was everything Ashwood had described him to be. An unattractive short man who bordered on obesity, sweated profusely, and had a head of thinning dark blond hair and cutting brown eyes.
He barely acknowledged her as he sat in the chair beside hers. “What’s she doing here?” he demanded.
“She is your cousin’s widow. This concerns her as well,” Pickford replied, looking him in the eyes.
“She’s just that—a widow. All she’ll need is some source of income until she can find another man to dupe and a place to live. There must be somewhere we can put her.”
Georgiana’s back bristled. Time to put this man in his place. “I’m sorry, my lord, but I’m sitting right here. I’m not a book on a shelf you take out to dust off from time to time. I’m a living, breathing human.”
“Yes, yes. Now, can we get on with this? My bags and such should arrive at the house, along with my valet, as we speak. There’s much to do.”
“And where would you have me stay, my lord?” She knew her misuse of his new title would irritate him, and that was what she intended, wanting to see him blow up like a puffer fish, insulted. Which was precisely what happened next.
“I’m sorry, but I’m now the duke and therefore referred to as Your Grace.”
“And I am the dowager duchess and am referred to as Your Grace as well,” she replied smugly.
“Your living arrangements are none of my concern. As I said, I’ll be happy to find a cottage or small house on one of the estates. Until one is found, I suggest you go to a hotel. There is no longer a place for you at Ashwood House.”
“You’d throw a dowager duchess out onto the street?” Georgiana said in mock horror. Martin was a miserable man, and she would be sure everyone among the ton knew it. All she had to do was say the word, and invitations would be few.
Pickford interrupted their bickering. “Can we begin, Your Graces?”
“Of course,” Georgiana said with a polite smile.
Martin nodded and grunted. “Oh, very well, though I strongly protest to this woman being present.”
“Duly noted, Your Grace.”
The next hour was painful. Martin challenged every point of Ashwood’s will where Georgiana was included, but Pickford persevered and finally finished. She rose, ready to take her leave.
“Would you be so kind as to send a copy of all this to my solicitor, please?” she asked. She and Pickford had already gone over it. Because of Martin’s attitude, she had decided long before meeting the new duke to have her affairs handled by the prestigious firm of Kingsley and Kingsley.
Pickford nodded as he rose. “I will make sure a copy is forwarded to Kingsley and Kingsley. I’m sorry to lose your business, Your Grace, but I understand. I look forward to perhaps doing business with you again in the future.”
Nothing had been lost on Martin, and though he didn’t utter a word, his eyes never left her.
“I assume the carriage you use belongs to me now,” he challenged. “Have it sent back to Ashwood House as soon as you’re finished. You’ll have to purchase your own or hire one.” He snorted, thinking himself funny. Such a vulgar sound.
“No, Your Grace, I purchased the carriage and four you saw. If there’s nothing else, I bid you both good day.”

I've always been a creative individual. Writing is just a facet of that creativity...
My careers in public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, artist management, modeling and special event planning all elevated my passion for writing, not to mention gave me a treasure trove for story lines.
I write women's fiction; contemporary romance (as Jamie Salisbury) and historical romance (as JR Salisbury) which is ever evolving. I am fortunate enough that writing (and marketing of said product(s)) is my full-time job, although I always have one or two other projects going at the same time.
Some of my other interests include photography, equestrianism, reading, and of course, travel.
I sincerely hope my writing will entertain, enlighten, and inspire others to pick up the pen and pursue their own dreams. I love to be contacted by readers, writers, and history buffs. You may contact me by email HERE.
