Fashion Monday Madness

After the craziness of a weekend that saw 13 inches of snow outside my front door, the awesomeness of Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl, and the massive crowds at the grocery stores preparing for the blizzard, I'm very ready for Monday and our fashion chat.  So let's get right to it.....

The Good....

Keira Knightley gives us the best of both worlds in this gown that offers prim and proper in front and naughty in back.  The gown fits her perfectly and is a color that goes beautifully with her hair color and skin tone.  With such an intriguing and attention-grabbing bodice, extra accessories aren't necessary.  Another A+ look from Keira that has me totally jealous.

Kathering Heigl looks like the belle of the ball in this flowing and fitted gown.  The diaphanous steel-grey material looks dream-like and romantic.  The bodice has an intriguing fit with an eye-catching openness to the back.  The hair is a bit too severe for such a romance-inspired dress but that's Katherine's usual hairdo of choice.  I'm too distracted by the glamour of this dress to be critical of any small issues.  Kudos to Katherine on a nice return to form!

The Bad....

Actress Mia Wasikowska is wearing a craft project gone awry.  The silk material looks cheap and the gathered mid-section looks as if the seamstress lost control of the sewing machine.  The white "undershirt" looks out of place and cheapens the overall look even more.  In the end, it's an ill-conceived 4-H project that won't win any blue ribbons.

They say that fashion is art, but for Rooney Mara, this piece of art is a complete mess.  This cocktail dress is overworked and poorly-fitted and looks uncomfortable to walk in.  The bodice looks like a road map and the uneven hem looks like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.  From head to toe she looks memorable, but definitely NOT in a good way.

The Ugly....

Leave it to Bjork to make another fashion statement by looking like the Staypuff Marshmallow Man.  As if the voluminous coat weren't bad enough, add in the blue skirt, tights, and boots and it's a blueberry nightmare.  At least no animals were harmed in the making of this outfit.

Looking more like a mug shot than a pop princess, Rihanna looks disheveled with her latest hair color and chewed-up Daisy Duke shorts.  Add in the thigh-high boots and you have a Pretty Woman reject.  Here's hoping she's dumps out the dirty dishwater and goes back to one of her more successful hair colors.

That's a wrap for this week!  Let me know what you think of these ensembles in the comments below and join me for another busy week here at my place.

Fashion Monday Madness.....

Last night provided great fodder for today's post with the SAG Awards rolling out the Red Carpet.  So let's get right to it....

The Good....

Michelle Williams is a standout from head to toe in this bright red gown with a bit of lace.  The length of the dress works beautifully to keep it from being stepped on and more actresses should go with this hemline too.  Her short 'do always enhances her porcelain doll complexion that doesn't need much make-up.  She looks stylish and sweet and definitely gives off a Marilyn vibe even now.

This dress worn by Kaley Cuoco is one that's definitely a love it or hate it ensemble.  I love it's fresh color and the draping of the bodice is very flattering.  The skirt is a conversation piece with its billowing, cloud-like style and she looks cool as ice in it.  The only thing I'd change is the Heidi-like braided hairdo, it's a bit overly done.

The Bad....

Kristen Wiig is known for her comedy but looks overly somber in this blandly colored gown with it's baggy line.  The studded dog collar does nothing to help the situation except make me want to send her to the dog house for wearing this disappointing outfit.

Glee's Amber Riley is practically swimming in bows and lace in this overly-embellished cocktail dress.  The adornments completely overwhelm her and make her figure look even larger.  The hair too is overly done and add to this drunken mess of a cocktail dress.

The Ugly....

Zoe Saldana looks positively matronly in another overly embellished gown.  Too many swaths of crystals at the waist and neckline, along with the tiny diamond disco balls along the hem make for a Bedazzled nightmare.

Rose Byrne continues the glitter-fest in this wedding cake-inspired jumpsuit.  All the embellishments make for a weighty outfit that completely overwhelms her tiny stature.  The 70's style, along with the blunt bob, harken back to a bygone era that should have stayed in the past.

That's it for this week, time to roll up the Red Carpet, and leave you to comment below.  Let me know what you think of these choices and join me again next week for more fashion fun.

Fashion Monday Madness....

Another week is upon us and the days are counting down until my birthday on Wednesday when I will be.....a year older.  Since it's Monday it's time for our fashion chat.  So let's get right to it....

The Good....

Kate Beckinsale is glittering in gold in this flowing gown that's simple and sleek.  The gold jewelry adds to this winning dress and is the perfect accent.  Kate definitely gets the gold medal for this look!

Kate Blanchett combines classic with cutting edge in this intriguingly draped cocktail dress.  The bodice has a romantic flowing feel to it and adds a bit of sexiness with the see-through material.  The shoes add a bit of flair and are all the adornment this simply perfect dress needs.

The Bad....

January Jones looks matronly from the top of her head to the tips of her toes in this bland dress.  The sleeves look like a child's craft project and make the dress look even more odd.  Add in the boring shoes and this is one ensemble that needs to be put in storage.

Amber Rose is trying to bring a bit of fashion to the Army with her peppy boots and leather vest, but she should be discharged for wearing pajamas.  The jumpsuit completely overwhelms her and is a fashion statement no one wants to make.  This is definitely not being all you can be!

The Ugly....

I normally love Evanescence's Amy Lee's gothic style, but this scarf scraps skirt is a mess.  It makes me think of that magic trick where you pull a scarf out and they just keep coming.  The colors are a joke and the skirt as a whole completely ruins her bad girl attitude.

Kelly Osbourne looks like a ghost with her washed-out face and grey hair that looks like it's been through a windstorm.  The dress is completely ill fitting with colors that add to her paleness.  The dress can't decide if it wants to be too baggy or too tight and ends up being too depressing for this Fashion Police correspondent.

That's it for this week.  Next week we'll be highlighting outfits from the SAG Awards so make sure to come back for more awards season fun.  And please sound off below with your feelings about this weeks clothing choices.

Fashion Monday Madness....

Courtesy of last night's Golden Globe Awards we have a great, and not so great, collection of ensembles for this week's post.  So sit yourself down and see if you agree with my choices.....

The Good....

Looking like anything but The Help, Viola Davis looks glamorous and romantic in this grecian gown with a hint of flirtiness.  Her hair is sleek and stylish and the color of the gown is a stand out.

Natalie Portman is a standout in this simply draped dress in the bold fuschia color.  Natalie looks sophisticated and understated in this gown that looks comfortably glamorous.

The Bad....

I love the color and top half of Sofia Vergara's dress, but the bottom looks like an attack of the peacocks.  It's way too tight and ends up looking like a feather duster.

Speaking of feather dusters, Elle MacPherson's dress is an explosion of tulle.  The top half is ill-fitting with very distracting embellishments.  The bracelets also add to the confusion as they look like something you'd get out of a Cracker Jack box.

The Ugly....

Emily Watson looks old beyond her years in this paper bag-inspired dress in a drab color that completely washes her out.  The look is completely dish rag material and is not helped by the unkempt hairdo and nonexistant make-up.  A bad look all-around.

Nicole Kidman looks as though she was attacked by a Bedazzler.  The embellishments look comical and it leaves the dress looking like something I'd drape over the edge of my couch.  The bodice looks too costumey and seems more appropriate for a Las Vegas showgirl.  Another misstep for Nicole!

That's it for this awards show!  Let me know your opinions on my fashion choices below and see you next week for more interesting ensembles.

Fashion Monday Madness....

Now that the holidays are over it's time to get everything back to normal here at the site.  Today brings some very interesting fashion choices so let me know what you think of them.  Later this week there will be two authors visiting bringing some giveaways with them that you won't want to miss.  So here's todays......

The Good....

Rooney Mara's look is simple but stylish.  Her exotic look adds a bit of flair to the outfit as do the strappy high heels.  There's also a sense of sportiness that she conveys that makes the bare midriff work well with the rest of the outfit.  There's something to be said for going understated.

Kristen Bell looks ready to party in this sparkly and eye-catching dress.  The hair adds to that sense of fun with its tousled and sunny style.  No accessories are necessary as the dress gives off plenty of sparkle on its own.  I liked her stylish teenage look on Veronica Mars and am happy to see her mature style looking just as memorable.

The Bad....

Kristen Wiig looks like she reached the very back of the closet to find this outdated and drab ensemble.  The outfit reminds me of something Peg Bundy wore to get laughs but that's not a good thing here.  Not only is the outfit frumpy, but the hair is droopy as well.  From head to toe this look doesn't make me want to smile as Kristen's comedic roles usually do.  Here's hoping 2012 brings her a more fashion forward wardrobe as opposed to a 70's flashback.

Here's another funny lady, Mayim Bialik, looking frumpy and anything but fun.  It looks like she walked off set wearing her character's clothes for the day.  The look is drab and yes, nerdy.  Not only that but it's in serious need of ironing.  Mayim normally looks stylish and completely opposite of her character, so I hope this is only a fluke.

The Ugly....

Snooki's borrowing a bit of looks from everywhere for this ill-fitting ensemble.  There's a bit of Vegas Showgirl with the gold metallic top, a bit of Lady Gaga (or gag) with the ridiculously over-sized shoes, and the red hair highlights are ripped off from Rhianna (but she's definitely no Rhianna).  Here's hoping that she takes this look back to the Jersey Shore and stays there with it.  Are her 15 minutes of fame up yet?

British television favorite Alexa Chung goes completely over the top in this metallic coat dress that's styled after something the Queen Mum would wear.....if this were a sci-fi tv show.  The black tights make the dress stick out even more and the shoes don't even come close to matching.  The hair looks like a bird attacked it and in its entirety this look is a complete thumbs down.

That's it for this week.  Let me know your opinions on what the famous, and not so famous, wore this week.  See you again next week

Fashion Monday Madness (Abbreviated Holiday Version)

With the craziness of the holidays still surrounding us, I'm keeping this week's fashion chat in abbreviated mode.  I simply can't omit it entirely when there's clothing like this being worn in the world.  So let me know what you think of the star's styles and join me for another busy week here at my place and Happy 2012.

The Good....

Kate Hudson's looking warm yet stylishly modern in a wintery bomber jacket and woolly Ugg Boots.  The earth tone colors are perfect for her wintery walk and compliment her skin tone and hair color beautifully.  The stylish jacket and sunglasses are worthy of any supermodel and Kate's starting the New Year off right with this ensemble.

The Bad....

Nicki Hilton is having a Clan of the Cave Bear moment with the Woolly Mammoth vest.  The unflattering stocking cap appears to be covering up her droopy Heidi braids and the rest of the outfit just adds to the unflattering.  I'd be unsmiling too if I were wearing this uninspired outfit that screams Bah Humbug.

The Ugly....

Kat Von D looks as though she woke up on the wrong side of the bed with this completely crazy outfit.  From the tight leather pants that look like they were attacked by rampant scissors, to the patch job of tying the leather to her legs, to the mismatched shoes, this is no way to ring in the New Year.  Maybe she's still hung over?  Who knows, but this outfit is better suited to the trash can than the city streets.

That's it for this week.  Sound off below with your feelings about this week's fashions and return later this week for another author visit and possibly more giveaways.

For Fans of The Hunger Games....

For those wanting to show off their love of The Hunger Games comes this collection of nail polishes inspired by the book and upcoming movie.  The colors represent the Games and overall feel of the intriguing world Suzanne Collins has created.  So be on the lookout for these shades to be released in late February.

Fashion Monday Madness (the Abbreviated Version)

With so much going on this week what with the holidays and author's visits and giveaways I have going on, I thought I'd keep today simple.  So after viewing today's fashions make sure to sign up for the giveaways I have running.  And return for even more fun throughout the week.  So without further ado, here's.....

The Good....

The young royals of William, Kate, and Harry looked fabulous once again and anything but basic in black.  Will and Harry look dapper and debonair in their perfectly fitted suits while Kate matches beautifully in this tightly fitted black gown that settles that pesky pregnancy question.  The lone necklace and accompanying earrings, bracelet, and ring adds just the right bit of adornment.  Kate just shines and this is definitely a winning trio!

The Bad....

Paris Hilton looks like a Pepto-Bismol mess in this silly coat and hat more suited to a child than an adult.  Add in the sloppy pants and boring shoes and it's looking like Paris is running out of money.  Either that or this is her idea of being incognito.

The Ugly....

Vanessa Hudgens once again takes the retro hobo look too far and ends up looking trashy.  From the see-through lace pants that are completely ill-fitting to the over-sized sweater that looks like it could cover three people to the fringed purse more suited to the 70s, it appears that Vanessa needs a fashion consultant for Christmas.  If this is what today's starlets call fashion, than I seriously worry for our youth.  Yet another thumbs down for Vanessa this week!

Let me know what you think of today's fashion choices in the comments below and keep coming back for more giveaways and authors throughout the week!

Fashion Monday Madness.....

Lots going on right now with Christmas less than a week away.  I hope everyone is getting all their shopping and baking done while taking out time to read.  I'm now ready to present to you this week's celebrity fashion.  So get comfy and comment below with your impressions of what the stars are wearing.

The Good....

Sandra Bullock hasn't let motherhood keep her from looking stylish in this elegant looking tuxedo with a bit of sexiness from the deep-V of the collar.  The fit is impeccable to show off her figure with the artsy belt as an eye-catching accessory.  The stylishly simple hair and basic footwear let this outfit shine all on its own.

Jessica Biel makes basic black look chic in this lacy confection.  The see-through lace on the bodice keep the color from being too relenting, as do the minimal yet matching accessories.  The shining hair and muted make-up again keep the look fresh.  Jessica got it right with this one!

The Bad....

LeAnn Rimes should've taken a lesson from Sandra Bullock on how to wear a suit.  This one is completely wrong and outdated.  The too tight pants, the gold lame shoes, the heavily buttoned vest, and extravagantly sized shoulder pads scream the 80's.  Perhaps she's auditioning for Grease, the Musical?  The washed out complexion and greasy hair don't help the look either.  LeAnn looks just as unhappy to wear this as we are looking at it.

Elle Fanning's look is too outer space/happy home maker for my taste.  The see-through side panels make the bib-apron laced insert stick out like a sore thumb.  The rubber hose strapped shoes don't go with the demure look of the dress and give of a dominatrix vibe.  This is an outfit confused about what it wants to be and ends up making Elle look confused as well.

The Ugly....

Demi Lovato again (third time is not a charm) visits us with the same ripped up tights she sported all summer.  The overly layered look makes her look like a vagabond or perhaps an unmade bed with how sloppy she looks.  I would've hoped that a change of season would have brought a change in style for the better, but alas we're stuck with this messy look.

Sophia Bush looks extremely dated in this overly brightly colored Designing Women-inspired ensemble.  The fit of the outfit doesn't compliment her figure at all and adds a few years to her overall look.  The chunky accessories just add to the over the top feel that these colors are conveying.  A big thumbs down for this week!

Feel free to comment on your impressions of this week's fashions and have a great day!

Fashion Monday Madness....

Christmas is coming like a freight train and I hope all of you are getting prepared.  I'm personally way behind.  So instead of thinking about that, let's talk fashion instead.  Here's our fashion choices for this week....

The Good....

Rachel McAdams brings the drama in this elegant and sexy gown.  The glittery patterned fabric is unique while the plunging back gives a lasting impression as she exits.  The color goes beautifully with her skin tone and hair color.  And since the dress sparkles on its own there's no need for any accessories.  Rachel gets kudos for this masterpiece!

Angelina Jolie looks anything but morbid in this daring black gown.  The peekaboo shoulder and slit are a nice tease without being tasteless.  The draping compliments her figure and adds drama to the overall look.  Nice job, Angelina!

The Bad....

Fergie's looking a bit rumpled in this comically bad cocktail dress.  The use of a cartoon character should only be on clothes worn by kindergartners.  But considering how tiny the dress is, perhaps this was meant for a child.  Hopefully the double-sided sticky tape is working overtime since she looks to be one deep breath away from a wardrobe malfunction.  Her lifeless hair and make-up add to this disappointing look and I wish her better luck next time.

Julianne Moore looks as if she could fly away with these over the top sleeves that ruin an otherwise acceptable look.  The sleeves look as if they were tacked on during a game of pin the tail on the donkey and she should do herself a favor and rip them off for next time.

The Ugly....

Clearly Julianne Moore didn't learn her lesson since she once again goes over the top in this grandmotherly-looking dress.  The color, fabric, and style are frumpy and the shoes add to this nightmare of an outfit.  The shoes look like a dominatrix's closet threw up on them with all the feathers and chains adorning them.  Here's hoping she gets a new stylist or it will be three strikes and she'll be out.

Courtney Love visits us again this week in another bed sheet-inspired gown.  The fabric is a wrinkly mess with draping that is haphazardly done.  The bodice of the dress is ridiculously low cut and I'm sure everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that whatever gravity is holding that dress up doesn't stop.  The washed out face and greasy hair are becoming a trademark of hers and add to the mess that this dress is.

That's it for this week.  Please sound off below with your comments about this week's fashion ensembles and be here again next week for another fashion show.

Fashion Monday Madness.......

It's the start of another busy week which brings us to our day of fashion chat.  I've scoured the internet to bring you an array of intriguing fashion choices.  So without further ado, here's....

The Good....

Amber Heard looks cool and casual in this simple yet stylish dress.  The fit is perfect with an interesting fabric and sash that adds a nice bit of color.  The casual feel of this outfit works well with the loosely styled hair and she looks ready for any social event.

Fashion model icon Iman still knows how to bring the glam in this dramatically styled and boldly colored gown.  The color of the gown compliments her skin tone and hair color beautifully.  The draping of the dress is a conversation starter with accessories that add to the overall regalness that she exudes.

The Bad....

Jane Fonda normally looks classy, but with this walk on the wild side pair of pants she looks like a clown.  The color and pattern completely overwhelm her and give an outdated appearance.  In this ensemble she resembles Carol Brady and here's hoping this outfit gets sent back in time never to be seen again.

Helena Bonham Carter makes yet another appearance this week in her usual overlayered and morbid ensemble, but this time with a twist....the oddly draped skirt that could be mistaken for drapes.  HBC has this avant garde look down pat, but just once I'd like to see her wear something stylish as opposed to costumey.

The Ugly....

Alessandra Ambrosio goes over the top in this psychedelic sci-fi nightmare.  The colors and designs are a strain to the eyes and with the expanse of skin being shown she might as well be wearing a band-aid.  This is one model who needs a new design.

Sarah Jessica Parker takes the theme of the ball she's attending a bit too literally by wearing a skirt resembling snowflakes.  The skirt is overly busy and overly poofy and completely overwhelms her.  The top is also unflattering with its poor fit that engulfs her figure even further.  In the end she just ends up looking frumpy.

That's it for this week's wardrobe choices.  Sound off below letting me know your feelings regarding what the stars wore this week and join me again next week for more fashion fun.
