Book Tour for Legacy Under Fire by Genie Gabriel (Promo & GIVEAWAY)

Who doesn't love a sexy firefighter?!?  In her newest release, Legacy Under Fire, Genie Gabriel combines suspense with fiery sexual interludes in an exciting story that you'll love to read.  Keep reading to get an in-depth look into this book and make sure to comment for the chance to win a gift card.....

After being trapped in an arson fire that destroyed her clinic and her memory, a doctor struggles to regain her courage as well as solve the mystery of why someone would want to kill her. A different kind of heat fills her life when she falls in love with the firefighter who rescued her, but can he protect her from the man determined to snuff out her life?

EXCERPT:

As Shiloh stood watching the dancers, butterflies swooped in her belly like the rainbow of satin gowns swirling across the dance floor.
"Would you like to dance?"
Shiloh gazed at Jeremiah, her handsome escort. No smudges on his face from smoke and ashes. No sturdy turnouts with its fabric rough against her cheek.
Handsome. Serious. Sexy.
Though he barely touched her fingers, the heat shimmered between them.
Shiloh's breath caught in her throat. Tonight was different. He wasn't a hero doing his job. He was a man whose gaze looked into her soul.
And found what?
Did he see the holes where her memory had been? Did he sense her fear and wonder at her doubts?
"I-I can't."
A frown settled briefly on his brow.
"I've never learned any dance steps--I just sway to the music." Shiloh shrugged ruefully.
"I can teach you."
Shiloh's mouth went dry. She struggled to swallow as the fantasy of Jer teaching her more than dance steps raised goosebumps across her skin.
"It's easy." Jeremiah turned his hand over so her palm rested against his. "Just a few simple steps in a box pattern."
His other hand moved to her hip, and he quietly counted the steps as they moved to the music. "One, two, three. One, two, three."
Mesmerized by the movement of his lips, Shiloh simply followed his lead.

AUTHOR INFO:

For years I've been fascinated by the puzzle of why some people collapse under life's traumas and others emerge triumphantly stronger. These triumphs of the human spirit over the ugliest of adversities became the basis for my stories. Yet my dramatic stories have always contained touches of humor, and sometimes I have great fun writing romantic comedy novellas. However, in all my stories, my passion for writing romance is an outlet for the powerful messages that people can overcome great difficulties, and true love can turn life’s heartaches into happily ever after.

    1. Hi, Lena! Most people would be considered crazy if they said the voices in their head told them to, right? Not so with writers!

Seriously, LEGACY UNDER FIRE is book #6 of my nine-book Halo Legacy Series. The first book featured a secondary character from an earlier novel who insisted her story be told (one of those voices in my head!). And she had seven adopted brothers who put a cramp in her love life, so they all had to have stories--and loves--of their own to get them out of her hair.

Jeremiah, the hero in LEGACY UNDER FIRE, is one of her brothers.

  3. Legacy is a series, since this is book 6. Can one read this one first or will I miss something?

    1. Hi, "Anas"! Don't tell other authors, but I generally read series books out of order. With that in mind, I've tried to put enough info into each book so they can be stand-alones without boring everyone with an "info dump."

What you will miss is the emotional journey of each sibling through action events like their hometown exploding and, of course, falling in love. But you can always go back and read the other books in the series in any order you'd like to. :)

  4. Great excerpt! I'm anxious to read this series. What made you decide to write a series?

    1. Waving hi, Paty! Writing a series is addictive to me. Write one book and you gotta have another and another and another! LOL!

For me, writing a series is like visiting with good friends in a place I love. Some times the fictional small town of Halo seems more real than my "real" world. At least I haven't called my kids by one of my character's names--not yet anyway.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi, Ami! This is #6 of nine contracted books in this series that will be released every other month through July 2013. Though other secondary characters are starting to hint--not so subtly--that they want their own story. So I may dwell in my fictional town of Halo for even longer!

    1. Hi, Kerry! I'm so pleased to see a man comment!

My adult sons have read my books--hesitantly at first, I'll admit--then paid me what I consider one of the highest compliments I've received. "This isn't what I expected."

They thought a book labeled "romance" meant the characters would be having sex on every page. If that's what you're looking for--sorry, not going to find that in my books.

I like to toss in exploding towns and shootings and dead bodies--you know, all the other stuff in our lives. What do you mean you don't have that stuff in your life...

    1. Hi, Elizabeth! Ah, yes, firemen. I remember the guide for a tour of a local fire station had great biceps and wonderful green eyes. He knew he made a great first impression. Then he started talking about what they endured on callouts. Not just the fact of walking into flames when most people would be running the other way, but of being shot at because people would see the uniforms and think they were cops and other crazy stuff. You'd think the big red engine with water spewing out of the hoses would give people a clue they were there to help. Strong, dedicated, courageous--definitely the stuff of heroes!

    1. LOL, "Emiliana"! (By the way, is that your real name? Love it!)

I have databases within databases to try to keep details straight. Another challenge is writing the next book and realizing I should have had a character do something different in an earlier book! Definitely a test of my creativity to get out of that corner. I hope enough eyes read these books before they are published to not have major glitches. :)

  13. I'm a firm believer of reading series books in order. I don't want to miss the growth and development of the various characters from book to book. And, I usually wait until I have ALL the books in the series before I begin reading. That said, the only series I read as I got the books was The Bar Cynster books by Stephanie Laurens....she's up to 15 or 16 now with more planned.

    1. Curious, I looked up the Bar Cynster books. Those are long books at about 120,000 words! I went the other direction--my Halo Legacy Series books are about 35,000 words each. Easy to read in a single sitting!

Maybe one of these days I'll gather an entire series and read the books in order. There are several in my to-be-read pile. Snuggle in with chocolate and my herd of dogs and spend some time in reading heaven. Ah, that sounds nice!

      Thanks for stopping by, Karen!

I have trouble committing to lengthy series. My reading interests are very diverse and I don't often want to revisit similar places, characters, themes, etc.

    1. Hi, Catherine! Maybe that's why a lot of series have only three books. Readers and authors get the best of both worlds--a taste of a series and then move on to something different.

Since the siblings in my Halo Legacy Series are adopted, they have divergent experiences and emotions surrounding their biological families. Even the same events affected them all differently. As I wrote the stories, it was amazing how the individual personalities came out but the entire family was still bound together by love.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Genene, Wow 6th in the series. That is a lot of time in one place. I'm impressed! The excerpt sounds wonderful, a great emotional tie. Do you conceive of a time you will package the series together and sell it as a set? Often that is when people will buy because they know it's all there and they don't have to stop and wait for the next book. Of course, with six books there is PLENTY to read already. :)

    1. Hi, Maggie! Good question about packaging these together. Right now there are nine contracted ebooks in this series about eight adopted siblings and their widowed mother.

I have a number of ideas bouncing around in my head about how to showcase this series--after all the writing and editing is done! Then I'll take a deep breath and see where to go next. It may be a surprise to me also!
