“One dance, that’s all I’m asking for.”
Dreams don’t come true. That’s one thing that Sophie Becker knows for certain. Sophie spent the first nineteen years of her life dedicated to her dream of becoming a dancer, but when an injury ends her career as a performer, she struggles to find an anchor.
Now, a few years later, Sophie has tried to move on by opening a dance studio in the heart of Manhattan. She thinks she can hide from her pain, but it’s impossible in the face of daily reminders of the opportunities she has lost.
One night, a mysterious stranger walks into her studio, threatening to tear down the facade she has worked so hard to build up. Henry Medina is the reclusive CEO of Medina Properties and has a troubled past of his own. Henry is cocky, handsome and all he wants is to dance with Sophie.
When a dance becomes more than just a dance, will Sophie be able to handle the intense emotions that he stirs up? Will Henry reignite the passion in Sophie’s heart and heal her soul or will he leave her more broken than she was when he found her?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

One Last Dance was like a comfort read for me with its likable characters and heartwarmingly hot romance.  Some of the action was predictable but with the author's fresh voice the storyline felt special to me.

Sophie dedicated her life to dance until an injury forced her to change the dreams she had for her future.  Not letting this event break her she's moved on to teach dance which allows her to still be surrounded by what she loves.  I admired her independence and fortitude in accepting what she couldn't change but ached for those lost dreams that still haunt her occasionally.  Sophie's the kind of heroine you admire and root for and who deserved a HEA.

Henry wasn't living the kind of life he wanted either.  From a family of money, obligations have him tied to his job which is causing life to pass him by.  Henry is sexy and charming, and I was drawn to him, but there's a sense of sadness surrounding him that changes the moment he spies Sophie dancing.  From then on the sensual nature of their mutual dance frees them both and sets them on the road to a HEA.

Considering their different social classes the requisite condemnation of their relationship by others is evident but not an insurmountable roadblock for two such tightly connected people.  Ms. Stephens allowed the sensuality of dance to permeate their burgeoning relationship which amped up the sexual tension between them and had me fully immersed in their relationship.  This may be a quick read but it doesn't skimp on the emotions and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

My rating for this is a B+
