MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rock star stories I was immediately drawn to the premise of this story which ended up being more than I thought it would be in many ways.  The events of this story take place as a new rock n' roll musical is being created and portrays all the emotions and chaos surrounding this endeavor.  The egos of the actors is on display as well as the inner conflict of the three main characters and the subtle sexual battle going on between them.

Hayworth was a star football player until a career ending injury has him changing the course of his career and embracing a career in theater in order to keep the scholarship he desperately needs.  He's an immediate success in looks and swagger and the woman who chose him for the part can't help but be drawn to him just like the fans.  Hayworth is equally drawn to Fiona but holds back as she's already with someone else.  The sexual tension between him and Fiona is more than apparent though as sparks practically fly whenever these two are together.  He's obsessed with her though and doesn't hesitate to lay his heart on the line for her which leaves us breathless with waiting for the answer.

Fiona is currently living the good life courtesy of her older and more domineering boyfriend Michael.  He gives her the means by which to pursue her life long dream and produce a musical which becomes her obsession.  The new male lead particularly consumes her thoughts as his sexiness, assuredness, and kindheartedness has her infatuated but fighting her feelings as she's with another.  Fiona had a disturbing encounter as a teen which has left her cautious when it comes to sexuality.  In this case though, cautiousness is a good thing as Michael becomes subtly yet progressively possessive.  He starts expecting more from her than she's willing to give and manipulates her emotions to stay in her good graces.  There's also the subtle threats he makes against Hayworth that keep her in line.

This is a highly sexualized story with lots of hot and heavy scenes.  The scenes between Michael and Fiona are particularly hot but lack any true emotion as his domineering ways taint every scene he's in.  Needless to say, Michael creeped me out and I worry what he'll do in the future as he seems to just be biding his time.  He's an over-the-top character and I dreaded seeing him come on the scene.  The scenes between Hayworth and Fiona sizzle with sexual tension and it's clear they belong together as they both come from middle class backgrounds and enjoy the simple things in life.  They're both a bit naive at times too.  Hayworth ends up in a scary position because of Michael that could've ended badly but luckily didn't.  Fiona also knows Michael's becoming too possessive, and his sexual intensity becoming too deep, but still stays by his side.  With this story being a cliffhanger it's unclear where these relationships will go but I definitely want to follow and will be on the lookout for the next installment in this series.

My rating for this is a B.
