Book one in the Coastal Heat series.
When she accidentally runs into the back of a gorgeous stranger’s truck at a stoplight, the last thing on Kassie’s mind is indulging in her deepest, hottest fantasies with him. Until he shows up on her doorstep as the contractor she’d hoped to hire to remodel her home and things get interesting…fast.
With a sexy drawl, skilled hands and a body that makes her panties all but melt, Jax is exactly the kind of man she shouldn’t get involved with after breaking off her engagement and starting over in another state. But she’s helpless to resist the powerful desire he makes her feel, and before long she’s letting him have his wicked way with her all over town.
Jax knows falling for a woman like Kassie’s a bad idea. He’s experienced enough heartbreak to see the signs. He can tell she’s ready to run, but when she’s in his arms, he’ll do everything he can to make her stay.

Kassie pulled open the door and did a double take.
There he stood, grinning at her with his dimples on full display. In his tight jeans, dove-gray shirt and cowboy boots, he looked like something straight out of her fantasies. That super sexy tattoo of his curled over his forearm, and she followed its path of dark curves all the way up to his strong biceps. Yum. His blue eyes crinkled at the corners, shining with a blatant sexual warmth that threatened to melt her panties.
“It’s me,” he drawled.
She tried to stanch the instant stab of lust the mere sound of his voice sent slamming into her. Her eyes greedily took him in, noticing that his stubble was back, this time more pronounced than before. Good God, he was sex in a gorgeous, man-shaped package. And she was staring at him.
“Hi, Jax,” she forced herself to say.
“Hi, Kassie.” He stepped closer, invading her personal space in the most delicious way. “Are you going to let me in, or are we going to give your new neighbors a show?”
She stepped back instinctively, even though she knew she shouldn’t. The expression on his face had gone from charming to predatory in under thirty seconds. “What brings you here?” she asked tentatively, even though she was reasonably sure she could tell by the bulge in his jeans.

The overall storyline and themes employed by Loved Up are ones I've seen a hundred times, but in the talented hands of Ms. Scott they become immensely enjoyable and put a smile on my face that's still there when I think of this book.  It's like comfort food in that I know what to expect but seeing Kassie and Jax's journey to HEA unfold is heartwarming and realistic in the banter between them and their inner thoughts and feelings.  As the first book in the Coastal Heat series it shows great promise for future installments and I'm left waiting impatiently for the next Taylor brother to fall in love.

Kassie thought she knew what she wanted out of life.  Being in the hustle and bustle of New York with a high pressure and high paying job, along with a respectable and successful fiancĂ©e, seemed like a dream come true until she realized how unhappy she was and how dull her life had become.  She literally ran away from it all and started over in a small town that oozes family friendly.  Life for her is now carefree and full of possibilities.  She's unleashing a wild side that she thought had been buried courtesy of sexy contractor Jax whose fiery first encounter with her sets the pace for their crackling and unexpectedly overwhelming relationship.  Her heart is still reeling from her ex and the self-doubts he left her with, so the emotional intensity Jax causes her leaves her questioning everything between them.  Her inner conflicts are expressed often so it's easy to know what she's thinking and feeling which made for a better story.

Jax is also still smarting from an ex that wanted him only for his money.  She too came from the big city so it's hard not to compare her to Kassie.  He tries to ignore these thoughts though as Kassie makes him feel things he never felt before.  Their connection is electric and it's hard to keep his hands off her and not move their relationship forward at a break-neck pace.  He knows what he wants and it's his brothers creating conflict as they have him doubting what he feels and reminding him of his ex.  To reach their HEA will they finally put their pasts to rest or will they let self-doubts ruin their futures.  It's a rocky road at times that left me aching for them but ultimately I was left with warm fuzzies and a crush on Jax.

Jax is sexy, charming, and full of aw-shucks mannerisms.  He knows just what to say to win a girl over and I found myself won over just as much as Kassie.  Kassie is immensely likable and just starting to get her confidence back.  Jax sometimes overwhelms her but she can't help being drawn to him.  Their relationship is fast-paced but feels believable as their banter is witty and surprisingly insightful as to their true feelings.  The sexual interludes are scorching and frequent and showed their playful sides amidst their intense emotional connection.  Along with an engaging main couple comes a delightful and equally entertaining set of brothers.  Jax's brothers are tantalizing with unique personalities that I long to see more of.  Their interactions are boisterous and believable in their tendency to joke with one another.  The closeness of family oozed off the pages and enhanced the heartwarming feeling that started on the first page.  From start to finish I found this a wonderful read with engaging characters, steamy sexual encounters, and crackling dialogue.  Though their inner conflicts and self-doubts dictated their relationship for too long I still found myself fully immersed in their outcome.  The glimpses of Jax's brothers also has me excited for the future and I highly recommend this to those wanting drool-worthy heroes!

My rating for this is a B+

Award-winning author Scarlett Scott writes contemporary and historical romance with heat, heart and happily ever afters. After growing up on romance novels, she now crafts love stories of her own with a good dose of sizzle and an equal amount of humor. She lives in the Pennsylvania countryside with her Canadian husband and is a proud mom to their adorable but occasionally evil dog with a penchant for eating everything he shouldn't.
