GROOMING THE PLAYER
Don't hate the player...
Bainbridge University sophomore, Emma Rae, embraces her title of perpetually single. All the guys at BU are total players, and if there's one thing Emma hates more than anything, it's a player.
Learn to play the game...
Ryan is tired of being the embarrassment of his frat house. Being a Delta means he should be playing the field, a different girl every night, just like the rest of his frat brothers. But he's the king of nerds, as they constantly remind him, and has never even had a real girlfriend. Hell, he isn't even allowed to live in the Delta house, instead living in a mod behind it.
He begs Emma to turn him into a player. In return he'll bring her to the Delta DASH--the party of the year. As an underclassman, Emma isn't allowed to the DASH without a Delta escort. She quickly agrees, knowing she can turn him into anything, as she's done with so many of the ghosts of boyfriends past.
She updates his image, teaches him how to flirt, how to kiss, and even how to drive a girl wild with his heated touch. She's groomed Ryan into the ultimate player, which is exactly what he wants.
The problem is she turns him into exactly what she wants too and must now decide whether this Project Em's Way is her greatest creation... Or her ultimate downfall.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

This was a quick yet enjoyable read that reminded me of some of my favorite movies, Can't Buy Me Love and She's All That, in its transformation of a zero to a hero.  From start to finish this book left me with a smile on my face courtesy of its delightfully entertaining characters and their realistic banter.  Ryan may start out nerdy but he was always endearingly sweet with flashes of sexiness.  He desperately wanted to make his father and brother proud though so he undertakes a journey, with Emma as his teacher, to become a worthy member of his family's fraternity.  He always had a thing for Emma and being in close quarters with her gives him the chance to finally win her over.  He won me over from the moment he came on the scene and I was sometimes left frustrated by Emma's treatment of him.  She's had back luck with relationships, dating many superficial men, that her hearts now become hardened and she's hesitant to embrace what Ryan offers her.  She's a bit outspoken at times and driven to be in the popular crowd.  She sometimes a bit too abrasive as well but I couldn't help but like her honesty and forthright nature.  Late in the story she does make a poor decision in the heat of a moment of jealousy that really disappointed me, but I couldn't stay angry with her as it ultimately leads to some soul searching that leads her back to where she belongs.

This is a sexy story with an engaging storyline that leaves you rooting for the adorkable Ryan.  The secondary characters add to the fun and the banter and emotions expressed are realistic for college students and had me remembering my own time at the University.  Ultimately I was sad to see this story end but found it a great start to the Campus Players series and look forward to the next installment.

My rating for this is an B+

HIRING THE PLAYER
When life gets you down...
Kayla Riggs is three weeks from graduation and has yet to have one college experience worthy of a memory, let alone a story to tell people later. Her BFFs make a deal with the player next door—show Kayla how to have a little fun before she settles into a life of mediocrity.
Hire a player to pick you up...
Jake Swanson only has a few weeks left as a cadet for the Bainbridge Island Fire Department before he can take his practical exams and be hired on permanently. The last thing he needs is a group of crazy women insisting he grant his cute-yet-boring neighbor three insane wishes—one for each week left of school. The only kicker is that she can’t know about the wishes or the deal is off.
When they offer him a deal he can’t refuse, he agrees to show Kayla how to have a little fun, and in turn has a lot more fun with her than he expected, or wanted. Now he must choose between keeping his word, or losing his heart.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

This follow-up to Grooming the Player makes a wonderful addition to the Campus Players series with a storyline that's familiar yet fresh due to the immensely likable characters.  Kayla's a serious-minded young woman who plans everything and with graduation just around the corner her life seems set in stone.  She finds comfort in order and wants nothing to disrupt that, especially love.  Her caring friends have others plans for her though in the form of sexy Jake and his promises of decadent delights.  Kayla's not an outgoing character at first due to her devotion to order but as she and Jake get closer you see a more fun and caring side emerge.  Jake is a player but deep down we find a caring soul who falls for Kayla quickly and pulls out all the stops to win her over.  You'd think he'd be superficial but he has surprising depth and turns out to be the quintessential boyfriend that I easily fell for.

This was another delightful story from Ms. Adams with a nice flow, engaging characters, and steamy interludes.  The secondary characters, primarily Kayla's friends, were equally strong and I wouldn't mind seeing more of this crazy group of gals.  We also get a welcome appearance from the previous installment's main characters who have a moment of great turmoil that caught me off guard but made me root for them even harder.  From start to finish this was another satisfying installment to Ms. Adams enthralling college-set series and I look forward to many more books to come!
