Book Tour for Three Nights With a Rock Star by Amber Lin & Shari Slade (Review)

As a big fan of rock star stories I and Rock Star PR are thrilled to bring you the super sexy series starter, Three Nights With a Rock Star by Amber Lin and Shari Slade.  Keep reading to get a tantalizing taste of this book along with my impressions of it and then make sure to add it to your to-buy list!

When Hailey crashes a Half-Life after party, she expects to find the bastard who knocked up her little sister. Instead she meets the sexy front-man who agrees to give her access to his crew if she gives him access to her body.
All Lock demands in return is three days of complete control over the Sunday School teacher. With a contract, because hes been burned before. One misstep could send the bandand his tenuous sobrietyup in flames.
Hailey and Lock push each others limits… Against the penthouse window. Backstage. In the limo and on the elevator. But as the contract counts down, neither are ready for the party to end.

Lock managed not to jump the sexy little Sunday school teacher the second her pen left the paper. Her hand had been shaking as shed signed, and she wasnt ready for sex. At least not the way he did sex. So he showed her into the restroom and let her freshen up. Meanwhile he conferred with the concierge to get her bag brought up and her car moved to a VIP spot.
When she emerged from the bathroom, he knew she was ready. He knew by the fresh lipstick on her full lips and the resolved set of her chin. But most of all he knew because of the flicker of curiosity in her eyes. Under the fear, she wanted to know what came next.
He crooked his finger and beckoned her to him.
Her breathing was shallow, her cheeks flushed, and she kept running her fingers through her hair, touching herself. That long blonde hair cascaded around her face in a messy tumble. Bed head, and they hadnt been anywhere near a bed. Wouldnt be near one anytime soon if he had his way. Which he would. This was his show.
She tugged the hem of her short skirt so it covered a sliver more thigh, drew her shoulders back, and crossed the room, steady on her bare feet. She should be plucking daisies, not padding across the plush carpet of his penthouse suite. Your wish is my command.
No more preamble. If she was really going to do this, hed know now for sure.Im going to fuck you against that window over there, and Im not going to be nice about it. Do you like to hurt, Hailey?
Her name was a weapon on his lips. A sharp thing he could use to lash her. Every time he said it, he watched her tense. This time she wobbled, her answering nod barely perceptible, her coltish legs giving way under the weight of his regard. And he liked it.
She wanted this thrill, and at the moment finding her sisters baby daddy didnt have much to do with it. Her eyes held wariness and guiltbut most of all, excitement. As if his proposition had jolted her awake. More awake than shed ever been in her drowsy little East Podunk life, hed lay money on it.
Hed woken up on stage like that, the whiskey haze parting long enough for fear to creep in, adrenaline spiking into his bloodstream as he fumbled for an instant and thenclick. Everything slipping into its proper place. The music. The band. The crowd. All of it more alive, more real, brighter and sharper because hed come so close to disaster.
Do you like to hurt, Hailey? Hed asked her, and she could only nod.
Hed hurt her so good shed give voice to that desire before he was through. She knew it. He knew it. The subtext breathed in the air around them, a living thing, that damned contract come to life. She wants this. She wants the lurid celeb fantasy. The shock, the pulse-pounding vibrancy that only exists on the edge of a bad decision.
Hed take her there.
Take off your clothes,” he said, a little too harshly, his urgency coming out as hard-edged gruffness.
It didnt scare her away. She wants that too. She fingered the button of her cardigan, uncertain, and then popped them all in a rush, exposing a silver tank that dipped low over her cleavage. Fuck. Surprisingly lush curves on her willowy frame, and smooth, pale skin.
He shifted in his seat, imagining his cock between her breasts. Making them slick, squeezing them together, and thrusting, thrusting, thrusting until he came all over her neck. Jesus, he hadnt even seen them yet. She put a hand to her throat as if she could read his mind. As if every dirty thought hed ever had was flashing on his face. And she knew. Why was she taking so fucking long to undress?

FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THE BOOK (Backstage with Amber and Shari)

I have read and enjoyed many of Amber Lin's books and found them to be full of angst.  This one isn't as angsty and has exchanged deeply conflicted emotions for raw and gritty sex.  That's not to say I didn't enjoy it though.  I found myself quickly caught up in the whirlwind weekend of hedonistic interludes between the reliable and caretaking good girl Hailey and rock god Lock who's trying to put his self-destructive past behind him.  While most of their interactions are of the sexual variety we get to see moments where they connect and share on a deeper level, where we see each of them filling a void in the other's life.

Hailey and her sister Chloe have had to live with the backlash caused by their mother's addictions and promiscuity.  While Chloe seemed to rebel and take on a party girl persona, Hailey became the reliable one who lived a very vanilla existence while acting as Chloe's mother.  When Chloe comes home pregnant from touring with rock band Half-Life Hailey makes it her mission to find the man responsible and make him pay.  Things don't go as planned though as she ends up selling her body and soul to get to the truth.  For so long Hailey has denied herself the right to have fun, to let go of the pressures of being a caretaker, but with Lock she can finally let loose.  And she definitely lets loose in numerous hot and heavy sexual encounters that change her life forever.  I liked Hailey and saw a lot of myself in her and could understand her desire to cut loose.  I found myself cheering for her as she was a breath of fresh air in Lock's life of superficiality and untrustworthiness and is just what he needed to continue walking the straight and narrow.

Lock is still doing penance for the damage he did to his band through his alcoholism, blatant sexuality, and taking advantage of bandmate Krist's feelings for him.  He's kicked booze and learned to choose his sexual partners carefully by having them sign confidentiality agreements which leads to very unemotional and cold couplings.  He at first sees Hailey as a challenge, is drawn to her caring nature and her being unimpressed by his lifestyle.  She's a woman who actually wants him for himself.  He's scared to get too close though as their time together winds down.  He doesn't want to admit to a connection for fear he'll screw it up as he so often does.  He too is tired of the obligations forced upon him and sees her as a way to get away from it all.  She opens his eyes in so many ways, especially when it comes to the future and also the unrequited feelings Krist has for him that become heated here and feel unresolved at the end of the story.  Lock continues to fight his past throughout this story but it wasn't dealt with as much as I'd hoped.  By dwelling so much on the sex I felt like I was missing out seeing into his soul and longed for a story that put me through the emotional wringer.  I still found myself drawn to Lock but wanted to know oh so much more about him.

This is a very scorching story with numerous sexual encounters that overwhelm the story at times.  Hailey and Lock didn't really talk about their lives until almost the end which led to a quickly wrapped up ending full of misunderstandings and doubts.  Along with the sexy encounters between Hailey and Lock we had a ménage and a light bit of m/m between Lock and Krist which I hope to see dealt with more fully as the two of them will have to deal with their complicated connection.  Krist is an intriguing and compelling character with demons of his own and unrequited feelings and I look forward to his story that's coming out next.  Ms. Lin and Ms. Slade have written a fast-paced and super steamy story that pulled me in from the very start with its vivid depiction of the sensual world of rock music with all its obligations and superficiality and has me counting down the days until we return.

My rating for this is a B.

*I received this book from the autor for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Amber Lin:

Amber Lin writes erotic romance with damaged souls and deep emotion.
Her debut novel, Giving It Up, received The Romance Reviews Top Pick, Night Owl Top Pick, and 5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies. RT Book Reviews gave it 4.5 stars, calling it truly extraordinary.” She has been published by Loose Id, Carina Press, and Entangled.
Amber married her high school sweetheart, birthed a kid whos smarter than she is, and spends her nights writing down her dirty thoughts. In other words, life is good.

Shari Slade:

Shari Slade is a snarky optimist. A would-be academic with big dreams and very little means. When she isnt toiling away in the non-profit sector, shes writing gritty stories about identity and people who make terrible choices in the name of love (or lust). Somehow, it all works out in the end. If she had a patronus it would be a platypus.
