From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes an electrifying new spin-off series, Saints of Denver, featuring all the characters fans have been dying to read about.
Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller couldn’t be more different. She’s country club and fine-dining, he’s cell-block and sawdust. Sayer spends her days in litigation, while Zeb spends his working with his hands. She’s French silk, he’s all denim and flannel.
Zeb’s wanted the stunning blonde since the moment he laid eyes on her. It doesn't matter how many smooth moves he makes, the reserved lawyer seems determinedly oblivious to his interest—either that or she doesn't return it. Sayer is certain the rough, hard, hot-as-hell Zeb could never want someone as closed off and restrained as she is, which is a shame because something tells her he might be the guy to finally melt her icy exterior.
But just as things start to heat up, Zeb is blindsided by a life altering moment from his past. He needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. He can’t risk what’s at stake just because his attraction to Sayer feels all consuming. But as these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, battling together to save a family, the steam created when fire and ice collide can no longer be ignored.

EXCERPT:

“How come you don’t drive your cool truck during the week?"
Both his eyebrows shot up and I had to wait while he finished chewing to answer me. “My cool truck? The International? I know about a hundred sixteen-year-old boys that would disagree with you about the Jeep not being cool. Especially here in Colorado."
I shrugged a little and gave up trying to be delicate with the messy sausage. I was sure I had yellow all over my face, but I didn’t care. The thing was delicious. Seattle Sayer had no idea what gloriousness she had been missing.
“I like the old truck. It’s pretty and it’s so neat to see something like that restored and well loved."
“I do love it. That’s why I don’t drive it to jobsites. Too many nails and other stuff getting carelessly tossed around. I try and baby her."
I made a face. “The truck is a her?"
He laughed again and cleanly polished off the rest of his brat. I was amazed he did it all without getting anything in his face fuzz. That was real talent right there, I thought begrudgingly as I continued to make a mess all over myself.
“Sure. She’s classy, elegant, made of study stuff, expensive as hell to keep running and keep pretty. She’s only good to me if I’m good to her, so obviously she’s a girl.
I rolled my eyes and then wiped my hands on the outside of my pants when I finished off my own dinner. Briefly I thought my dad would be horrified at the action but I shoved that thought down and instead focused on Zeb and only Zeb. “How long did it take you to restore her?"
He shrugged, got to his feet, and moved to pry open the massive bucket of white primer he had been using as a chair. My buddy Wheeler sold the body to me for next to nothing when I got out of prison. We went to high school together and I think he knew I needed something to keep me busy because the only kind of work I could find right after being released was shit work for shit pay. Every week I would give him a few bucks here or there and he would find me a part or a piece of motor and we slowly but surely got her altogether. It was one of the reasons I knew I had to find a long-term way to support myself. Just because I had a record didn’t mean I wasn’t a valuable employee or a hard worker. I got really sick of being treated like a second-class citizen because of one mistake."
His eyes cut to mine and all I could do was nod in sympathy as he poured the liquid into trays and fished a couple of roller brushes out of a plastic bag.
“I actually met Rowdy through Wheeler. He had done a bunch of Wheeler’s tattoo work, and when I told Wheeler I wanted something to remind me not to do stupid things that would cost me years of my life again, he recommended Rowdy and the Marked shop. Rowdy was the one that recommended me to the guys that own the tattoo shop when they decided to open and renovate the new location downtown. It all seemed very meant to be, ya know?"
I did know. Everything was tied together with thin threads of fate, and when one loosened or tightened it was surprising how impactful it could be. Kind of like how I had ended up where with Zeb now.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

When it comes to romantic heroes Ms. Crownover has crafted many drool-worthy and commendable ones and Zeb Fuller is the latest addition to my book boyfriends list.  With such a sweet and sexy hero the storyline ends up being a heartwarming and fulfilling read teeming with a sense of family and love through wholehearted acceptance.  It's an immensely satisfying journey to HEA that brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face.

Zeb's the kind of man whose size and tattooed body inspires fear but whose heart is clearly worn on his sleeve as a sign that he's the kind of man to protect others.  Those protective instincts landed him in jail years ago in protection of his sister, hardening him in some ways but opening his heart to making a better and fuller life for himself.  Since his release he's determined to live beyond the stereotypes of his appearance, becoming a man his family can be proud of. Discovering he has a son throws him for a loop but gives him the impetus to finally claim the upper class girl who holds his heart as well as becoming the kind of dad his emotionally scarred son needs.  Throughout his journey to gaining custody of his son Sayer is there every step of the way showing him all his wonderful qualities that make him a far better and loving father than her own.  In return he tries to show her all her loving qualities and supportive nature that years of emotional abuse by her father have left her without.  Zeb's sweet yet immensely sexy and his flirty talk constantly kept Sayer blushing. Zeb tried to help her gain her own self-worth through his heartwarming words and deeds, but ultimately had to leave their fate in her hands.  Though he exhudes Alpha tendencies he never pushed Sayer, he just loved her unconditionally, letting her find her own way.  By story's end Zeb left me swooning for his sexiness and kind heart and is now at the top of my book boyfriend list.

Sayer grew up in a home of coldness and full of judgements from an overbearing father and uncaring and weak mother.  It's left her with low self-esteem and the belief that she's unworthy of love.  Though she desperately wants to help Zeb find a HEA with his newly discovered son, she thinks herself unworthy of being part of his HEA which led to a lot of heartbreak as he waited patiently for her to put her past behind her and embrace the woman she always kept hidden from her father's judgements.  Sayer's a strong-willed woman when it comes to her job, but on a personal level she's far less self-assured as her father's cruelty and mother's abandonment have kept her from finding happiness and a life of vibrancy, instead of all the muted tones she's surrounded herself with.  Being around Zeb gives her a glimpse of HEA and feelings of being cherished and adored, he loves her unconditionally and their connection crackles because of it.  His dirty talk brings out a wild side in her that led to scorching encounters and an emotional tug of war that left me rooting for them.

From start to finish this story held me captive with its heartfelt talk and smoldering sexual interludes.  Sayer may appear put together but behind her cool demeanor is a woman full of uncertainties.  Zeb may look gruff but he's immensely kindhearted and handles her heart very gently as he tries to bury her past so they can have a future.  He's the quintessential hero as he's sweet, sexy, and good with his son which made my uterus hurt.  Normally I don't care for children in romance books but Hyde was utterly charming and showed readers why Zeb is drool-worthy for all the care and concern he directs towards his son.  Along with this sweet trio of main characters comes a wonderful and loving cast of secondary characters that reinforce the sense of family permeating all of Ms. Crownover's series.  I'm especially drawn to prim and proper lawyer Quaid, who was burned by love, and the colorful and wild Avett who longs to ruffle his perfectly coiffed hair whose rocky journey to HEA will be told in the next installment.  From its heartwarming moments to sexy encounters this story quickly immersed me in its sensual tale of opposites attracting, and with visions of Zeb keeping me awake at night, it's ultimately an unforgettable tale that I highly recommend for its beautifully crafted hero.

My rating for this is an A+
