MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of m/m romances I found myself quickly immersed in this tale of opposites attracting courtesy of an engaging main couple and their scorching battle of wills.  From the sweet and sexy Milo who's just discovering himself, to serious-minded businessman Renner, theirs is a romance that is at times playful yet always teeming with eroticism that had me rooting for them every hard-fought step of the way.

Renner's life has always been one of proving himself, trying to be the best of the best to his father and the world, which leaves little room for love or romance. His latest business acquisition has brought him to a small town where everyone sees him as the enemy...everyone except security guard Milo.  Though Renner's drawn to Milo he surely can't feel the same way as he's straight...or is he?  With Milo discovering new desires, Renner soon becomes his mentor and his teacher which leads to conflicts of the heart and a roller coaster ride for readers.  From the moment he met Milo, Renner had someone who cared about him, watching over and protecting him from afar while battling him every step of the way through banter teeming with sexual tension.  The feelings Milo engenders soon start softening a heart hardened by the man he once loved walking away. It was a defining moment where he was second best again and, along with his doubts over Milo's newfound feelings, it permeates his relationship with Milo and puts their HEA in jeopardy.  After all their ups and downs it will take a lot to win Milo's heart but in so doing he won me over too!

Milo's a sweet and sexy man full of positivity who wears his heart on his sleeve. He always saw himself with women until the day a celebrity chef catches his eye and leaves him longing for more.  In that moment his entire world turned upside down and he looks to the one person he knows who can help him navigate his new world.  He's always admired Renner and his cool confidence in living his life as he wants and longs to be just as confident.  They may start off as friends but it's clear that there's more going on between them as Milo's protective nature soon becomes obsession and jealousy as Renner tries to keep emotions out of their interactions.  Through everything though Milo's true to himself and open to wanting more with Renner.  He's loyal and carefree and just what Renner needs in his high stress life.  His blatant honesty and heartfelt nature endeared him to me and had me rooting for him to find his HEA.

This was a fast paced yet immensely satisfying read that set the friends to lovers theme on fire with its numerous erotic encounters and moments of dirty talk. Renner and Milo's connection from the very start was crackling with fun and flirty banter that showed how much Milo cared in wanting to bring a bit of joy to Renner's life. Renner's clearly the more dominant of the two and it had him taking charge not only in the business world but in their erotic encounters too. It all led to a nice balance between the two and made them a perfect match, one worth rooting for.  Though there's a few secondary characters showing up in the narrative it's Milo and Renner who are the stars of this tale which makes this story stand nicely on its own despite being part of a series and for an ending that felt a bit rushed.  Readers looking for a carefree romance with very little angst will want to grab this book for the charming Milo, who's a breath of fresh air in Renner's stress-filled life, and for the heartwarming changes brought to the hardened businessman's life.

My rating for this is a B+

AUTHOR INFO:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.
Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of nine years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
