The instant connection that sparked in Booker continues in a way that no one expected...
This is the third time my life has fallen apart.
What I had pretended to be in the past is now banging on the door of my present. After living so many different lives, each one is a more faded version of myself. Who am I now? Who do I want to be?
Does Sam feel my body desperately reaching for his?
I don’t know who I am if I don’t mean anything to Kat.
After Kat dropped a bomb on my life, I’m filling my time with parties and fake shit. I need something else to keep me going. Something that won’t make me think about her.
I’m somehow still tied to her. Like our connection is too tightly knotted to be unwound.
I will always, always crawl back to her. Wherever she is.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
After the truth bomb dropped at the end of the previous book, readers were left with their guts in a knot awaiting where things will go for Sam and Kat next. This pair, whose connection once seemed unbreakable, have gone their separate ways at the start of this story. Anger and fear are their new companions, wallowing in alcohol and partying, living amidst superficiality instead of meaningful substance. Sam and Kat are clearly hurting here, and I hurt right alongside them, in a story that will take readers to the lowest of lows before putting them back on the road to healing.
With each turn of the page readers will find this is a heavy story, one teeming with angst, one that pulls you in from the very beginning. Sam and Kat get put through the wringer here, weighed down by their pasts, while discovering new things about themselves on their journey of starting to heal. This is NOT a standalone story, reading Booker is a necessity, as these two books make for a compelling dichotomy. The author pulls no punches in showing what Sam and Kat are going through, making this an occasionally difficult (but oh so rewarding) read. There's a lot going on in this story, a lot is especially revealed regarding Kat, and I loved having the chance to get to know the real her and see her roll with the changes coming her way. Sam and Kat's journey is one of patience, talking through things, along with forging a commitment. Once they started listening to each other I truly felt hopeful for their future and was rooting for them as they slowly and steadily discovered a path to HEA. Readers looking for an emotionally engaging tale will want to grab this one as it's a story worth all the tears!
My rating for this is an A-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
