MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With this being a prologue readers will definitely feel a bit cheated as there's a cliffhanger.  Just when things get going good the lights get turned off which had me screaming for more.  From the moment you start reading you're introduced to the heroine, Andi, and the three young men who will forever be the center of her universe...Cruz, Nico, and Vaughn.  These four were friends from the very start, laying a foundation that will never be broken but will definitely evolve as hormones and feelings start bubbling to the surface in this reverse harem tale that's just starting to steam up the pages.

From what we see of Andi, she's an average girl with complicated feelings for the three boys in her life.  She's always been drawn to them, valued their close friendship, but as she starts feeling more she fears for their friendship.  Worried about jealousies she's held off in stating her true desires.  She even tries to move on through her attraction to the new boy in town, Hunter.

It's Hunter that's the impetus for the three friends finally making their moves.  From an early age they took an oath not to push Andi into being more than friends as they never want to sacrifice their closeness.  As they get older though they no longer want to be just friends.  But with their unique personalities a relationship won't be easy, especially a polyamory one.  Nico's open to sharing but the outside forces of his family will be a heavy burden indeed.  Cruz is laid back and more than ready to claim Andi while Vaughn's feelings of jealousy concerning everything will be the biggest issue to deal with.  With each turn of the page these four slowly start to embrace a relationship, work out the logistics and the feelings.  It's a raw and realistic discussion leading to steamy temptations.

As I raced to the final page there were hints of suspense courtesy of the mafia's infiltration into town.  It all made for an exhilarating read full of temptations that I can't wait to see more of in this prologue to a gritty and erotically-charged anthology.

My rating for this is a B+

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:  When writing a reverse harem how do you balance all the sexy options available to the lead character in a way that satisfies every reader?
TD:  Great question. First, it’s not easy. There are really only so many way to portray sex in a book. Once you’ve zipped through them, things can get dicey. That’s why it’s best – even in an erotic romance – to also focus on emotions, not just the physical aspects of the act.
For example: in Hard Lust, Andros and Megan get it on when she least expects it but totally enjoys it. She thought he was angry about her giving him lip. He is, but he’s also turned on by how feisty she is. During the act, their bond builds, bringing them closer together.
For Vespar, he’s feeling left out because she made love with Andros first. Not one to be denied or dismissed, he creates a scene for their lovemaking she’ll never forget. Again, I focused on their emotions and how they felt about each other more so than ‘he did this to her and then she did that to him and then they did that together’. Granted, physical descriptions are important, which are there, but they’re not the be all or end all in an erotic romance.
By the time she and Racan have their fun, his personality comes into play. He wants to be important to her, not simply the next notch on her bedpost. Showing their affection for each other even during a hot sex scene increased the heat.
As to the many ways to portray sex, I included some BDSM (mild and fun not brutal), voyeurism, exhibitionism, discipline, bondage, oral (for both her and them), anal, 69, a four-way, missionary style, and back door. To keep the sex scenes fresh, I made certain to mix things up so their carnal play wasn’t even remotely the same each time she was with a different hero.

Don't ever trust a demon. Unfortunately, Megan has learned that lesson too late. The deal she made to save her sister's life has landed her in hell about seventy years early. And now she has three sexy demons trying to tell her what to do. Nope. Not going to happen.
These guys have never had to deal with such defiance. Andros figures she's due for some erotic discipline, which he'll happily provide. Racan's pure alpha, his hardcore plans include bondage and submission. Quiet yet intense, Vespar expects endless kink to spice up their carnal play.
Who would have ever expected she'd end up falling for them? Too bad demons can't be trusted...because someone is trying to kill the magic and threatening her stay in this lusty world.

EXCERPT:

Megan looked at him. “Do you guys ever get men down here?"
He shook his head. Having nothing except female condemned was a feature, not a bug, and a perk he wouldn’t give up without a fight. “Let’s go. Your time’s running out."
She trotted to keep up with him. “My half hour started already?”"
He stopped. “Twenty minutes.” He jabbed his finger at her. “You heard what Racan said. Don’t try to put anything over on us, because you can’t. Got it? Or would you care to try for fifteen minutes? Possibly less?"
Her lower lip trembled. “Why are you being so mean? You’re not that way really. You seem like a nice guy."
He stepped back and bumped into the wall. “Guy?"
She flicked her wrist. “Demon. Devil. Entity. Whatever."
“Try fallen angel."
Her mouth rounded. “Get out. You started up there?” She pointed toward Heaven. “I knew it. You are a good man."
He wasn’t Attila the Hun or Vlad the Impaler, but he wasn’t as great as she’d said. “You’ve forgotten how I spanked you?"
Her cheeks got rosy, her face dreamy. “Uh-uh."
He leaned in. “Are you turned on?"
“What?” She blinked and frowned. “No way."
Her taut nipples told another tale. “There’s something you should know.” He tapped her chin. “I am not a good man."
“Demon then. And yeah, you are. Andros told you to discipline me. You didn’t do it on your own.” He’d been itching for the chance when Andros presented the opportunity. “Don’t be so certain.” “I am.” She stroked his tat.
His gums tingled.
“What happened in Heaven? How’d you get down here?"
Bethshiba. His, Andros, and Racan’s crime hadn’t been that bad. They’d simply wanted to be heard and considered. Instead, they received the ultimate sentence—banishment.
“The reason isn’t important. This is.” He touched the handbook. “You need to learn everything you can. There isn’t much time."
She screwed up her mouth. “I thought I was here for eternity.” “Do you ever stop arguing?"
“I will, I swear. On one condition."
He held back laughter at her gall. “On one what?"
“Help me, please. Show me the way out of here. At the least, get me an audience with Satan so I can plead my case."
Poor girl was losing it. “Begging doesn’t work down here. With him or me. We need to go."
“Not yet.” She pressed closer to stop him from leaving, her nipples poking his pecs, her cunt smack against his groin.
Heat rose between them, unmasked desire sparking in her eyes. His hair stood on end. Her musk and the scent from his leather pants mingled to create one fucking great fragrance. She rocked her hips slowly, sensuously, arousal parting her lips. “I was... Uh, I was... That is, I was..."
He pumped against her, his already massive erection increasing by the second.
She met him thrust for thrust, their gyrations lewd. “Wait.” She kept grinding into him. “I need to say this."
“Sure."
They maintained their carnal dance.
“Go on.” He wanted to hear this.
She pulled in a huge breath. “I was taking law classes at night before I got here. I know how to present a case. I’m a great litigator. It’s in my blood. I’ll make Satan see reason. I won’t lose."
She couldn’t have killed the magic between them faster if she’d tried. He stopped pretend fucking and stepped away. “There’s no winning down here for the condemned.” The moment she opened her plush lips, Satan would vaporize her then bring her back and get his rocks off on torture...the kind she wouldn’t like. “It’s not possible.” He grasped her biceps. “You need to get a grip and accept your fate."
“Screw that.” She stroked his fingers.
Remarkable heat and delight shot up his arm and landed in his balls and cock, both still ready to boogie, her effect on him more than it should be or what he seemed able to stop.

Book Spotlight on Moonstone by Lucy Felthouse……..

Set against a holiday backdrop readers will find themselves quickly captivated by this scorching novella where life definitely takes a sensual turn when a young woman moves to a small town where three man change her life irrevocably.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Moonstone by Lucy Felthouse, a reverse harem tale, then add this 11th installment in the Jewels Cafe series to your bookshelf!

Christmas gifts aren’t the only surprises Ginny is going to get this year. Moonstone Guinevere ‘Ginny’ Miles is in Silver Springs visiting her parents for the holidays. They moved to the town five years ago, and adore their new life here. Used to the hustle and bustle of London, England, Ginny isn’t convinced at first—what’s so great about a small town in Upstate New York, anyway? Despite her own opinions, it’s clear to Ginny the move has done her parents the world of good—they look years younger. There’s clearly something magical about this town.
Following some exploration of her own, Ginny discovers Silver Springs has its charms—Jewels Cafe is amazing, for starters, as is its pumpkin spice latte. Ginny’s drunk a lot of lattes in her thirty-three years, but nothing quite like this.
Her taste buds are still tingling from the tasty treat when she comes across a broken-down truck on the way back to her parents’ place. And when she spots the three gorgeous guys with the vehicle, it’s not just her taste buds that are tingling.
Is Ginny’s vacation in Silver Springs about to get a whole lot more interesting?

EXCERPT:

Moonstone Guinevere Miles—known as Ginny to people who didn’t want to incur her fierce and everlasting wrath—heaved her suitcase off the luggage reclaim belt with an “Oof!” and placed it on the floor, a sigh of relief escaping her. At least the thing had wheels—she didn’t really have the energy for carrying a heavy suitcase all the way through Customs and out to Arrivals. The long, tiring flight had seen to that. No matter how much she tried, no matter how exhausted she was, she simply could not fall asleep on a plane. Ever. Eye mask, ear plugs, meditation, bloody whale music—nothing helped. She’d long since resigned herself to staying awake while snores from other passengers emanated around the cabin. At least it had only been about seven and a half hours since taking off from Heathrow—she couldn’t imagine what state she’d be in if she ever flew any longer than that—to Australia, New Zealand or somewhere.
Doubtful that would ever happen, though. It had taken long enough for her to get her backside out to the east coast of America, where her parents had been running a retreat since retiring five years ago. But then, things were different now, weren’t they? Which was why she was even here in the first place—it wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
Thinking of her parents brought an inevitable smile to her face, and inserted a little more spring in her step. Despite the energy and mood suck that had been the flight, she was excited to be here. She was eager to see her parents, and to find out exactly what they’d built up over the last five years. She’d seen photos and videos, but it wasn’t the same as actually being there.
When they’d first announced they were using their retirement nest egg to open a retreat in Upstate New York, she’d been floored. Who the hell retires, only to take on a massive project like that? Surely the whole point of retiring is to wind down, enjoy some free time, relax? But no, her mum and dad—who, to be fair, had never been what one would call conventional—had set their hearts on it. They’d had a huge purge of their belongings, sold their cars and house, and jetted off across the pond, leaving Ginny shocked and not a little bereft. She’d been so used to having them close by and had quickly realized just how much she’d taken that for granted.
At the same time, her own career had taken off and she’d become so busy that her parents’ sudden distance hadn’t made the blindest bit of difference. She barely saw the inside of her own flat, never mind her friends and family. This was the first Christmas she’d had off work since then, too, and she was looking forward to spending it with her parents more than she could put into words. They’d been big on the festive period ever since she was a baby, and as such, Ginny’s brain was stuffed full of warm, fuzzy memories of Christmases past. They’d been useful to get her through the last five crappy ones, too, where a microwaved ready meal was the best she could hope for, if she hadn’t managed to wangle a free meal from the place she’d been working at at the time.
Her smile widened, and she walked faster still—God, just how big was this bloody airport?—desperate to see her mum and dad and start the Christmas holiday with a bang. Anticipation rushed through her. They’d have turkey and roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, mounds of vegetables, desserts laden with enough calories to last them until Valentine’s Day, Christmas carols, amazing decorations, a beautiful tree, fairy lights...
And Santa Claus. Two of them, in fact, jumping up and down enthusiastically and waving wildly at her, with not a rotund belly in sight.
Ginny was so excited, she couldn’t even be bothered with the embarrassment she might have felt at being greeted in a public place by her parents dressed up in Santa outfits. Plus, nobody knew her here anyway, so who cared?
She scurried around the barrier, almost flipping her case in her haste to turn a corner, then covered the remaining distance between them in seconds flat and released the handle of her suitcase. A series of squeals and exclamations went up—from all three of them—and then everything went dark as Ginny was enveloped in a warm, fluffy embrace, her face crushed up against what she suspected was the white fur trim on her mother’s jacket, and kisses rained down on her. It was all she could do to suck in oxygen as she was squeezed and squeezed them right back. She was assailed by the scents of clean clothes, shampoo, perfume, and cologne—all perfectly lovely smells by themselves, but somewhat overwhelming all at once. Unintelligible murmurings reached her ears, but she didn’t bother to reply since she had no idea what was being said. And she didn’t need words, anyway. All she needed at that moment in time was to soak up the enormous outpouring of love she was experiencing.
She was so bloody happy, she thought she might pop.
Eventually, her parents loosened their hold enough so she could step back and actually look at them. She took in her father’s handsome face, his steel-gray hair—or what she could see beneath the hat, at least—his wide grin, and her mother’s long, light gray, waist-length plaits, the glint in her eyes and the glow of her skin.
“Guys, you look fantastic! If this is what retirement does for you, I think I might sign up now.”
Her mother, Deborah, gave a nonchalant shrug—which, given her attire, was way more amusing than it should have been. “What can I say, sweetheart? I feel fantastic. I’ve got so much more energy than I ever had in London, even when I was much younger.” She shrugged again. “It’s the retreat, I’m sure of it—the moment your father and I first set foot there all those years ago, I felt there was something magical about it. Silver Springs is the most wonderful little town, and we’re lucky enough to live and work in the most spectacular part of it—though it hardly feels like work.”
Ginny gave her mother a kiss on the cheek, then turned to her father, Charlie. “And you, Dad? You look twenty years younger, but how do you feel?”
His face took on a beatific expression. “The same as your mother, kiddo. Exactly the same. If I’d known just how wonderful it would be, I’d have thrown in the towel and moved out here years ago. Decades, even.” He grabbed the handle of Ginny’s case in one hand, then looped the other around her neck and pulled her in to drop a kiss on her chin-length blonde hair, which he then ruffled. “I’m so thrilled you’re here, Moony. You’re going to love it in Silver Springs. Just love it! Come on, let’s get going. We’ve got a long drive ahead of us, and the weather’s on the turn.”
Ginny bit back comments on both his use of her childhood nickname, and his messing up of her hair. She didn’t want to dampen the almost euphoric mood that seemed to float between the three of them—a combination of being pleased to see each other, and her parents’ obvious appreciation of their new home. Though five years was hardly new anymore, was it? She really should have visited before now, but the circumstances had been impossible. Now they weren’t, and she was here, in the bosom of her family, at Christmas time, and it was going to be magical.
And, at some point, she’d enlighten her parents about the fact she had nothing in particular to rush home for, either. But that could wait. No need to burst the happy, everything-is-perfect bubble just yet. She’d let them all enjoy their first Christmas together in years before thinking about that.
They made their way out of the airport building. The cold air slapped Ginny in the face, momentarily taking her breath. Her slight gasp drew her mother’s keen eye. “I hope you listened to me, sweetheart, and brought warm clothes with you. It’s even colder up in Silver Springs, you know.”
“The car’s not far,” her dad piped up. “I’ll get the heating on as soon as we’re inside, and we’ll soon have you snug as a bug in a rug.” He tipped her a wink, and warmth flooded her veins. She hadn’t realized until now just how much she’d missed her wacky yet lovable parents. They might be unconventional, but they’d given her a wonderful childhood. When she’d reached adulthood, they’d remained incredibly close, with them managing to achieve the perfect balance of loving and supportive without being controlling. They’d let her forge her own path, make her own mistakes, and had been there to help pick up the pieces without uttering so much as a “I told you so.”
They’d definitely earned this idyllic new life they’d carved out for themselves, and she couldn’t wait to experience it for herself, if only for a little while. Though she wasn’t sure how much fun there was to be had in the back end of beyond. It was hardly going to be lively. Perhaps it was a good thing she was only here for an extended holiday.

LEIGH ANDERSON loves all things Gothic and paranormal. Her master's thesis was on vampire imagery in Gothic novels and she met her husband while assuming the role of a vampire online. She currently teaches writing at several universities and has a rather impressive collection of tiny hats. She lives in a small town in the mountains with her husband, human child, and two fur-children. She is currently working on too many writing projects, and yet not enough.

ALICE WILDE grew up with a love of reading and spent her teens writing and submitting her essays as fantasy stories, much to the annoyance, but often high marks, of her teachers. Now, she spends much of her days writing historical fantasy paranormal romances (filled with gorgeous men and, of course, magic) that she hopes will spark a flame in readers as much as they do in herself.
Alice is currently living with her cat in a bustling city she never sees much of, as she’s too busy dreaming up, writing down, and living in her next paranormal RH romance, though she generally finds enough time for a real life date or two… We all need a bit of inspiration now and again, right?

Book Spotlight on Mia’s Wedding by Lucy Felthouse

It’s a tale of forbidden love for a woman dealing with the loss of her father while dealing with matters of the heart as she’s torn between her upcoming nuptials and a trio of distractions.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Mia’s Wedding by Lucy Felthouse, with its erotically-charged encounters, then add this second installment in The Heiress’s Harem series to your bookshelf!

Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and that’s without a harem of gorgeous men to deal with.
Mia Harrington has had a difficult time of it lately—her father’s illness and subsequent death, then finding out she must get married if she is to inherit what’s rightfully hers. Fortunately, she’s tough and resourceful, and has emerged relatively unscathed from this period, as well as finding herself a suitable husband.
However, things are far from simple. Mia might be planning to marry investment banker Elias Pym, but she’s also having a relationship with his best friend, Doctor Alex Cartwright, and is in love with her gardener, Thomas Walker. Add to that broken dates, flashy proposals, a sexy Asian tech billionaire, and a nosey housekeeper, and you’ve got a situation hectic enough to drive even the most capable person to distraction. Can Mia juggle her men, her job, and the wedding arrangements, or is her happily ever after over before it has even begun?

EXCERPT:

Mia locked up and put the key in her bag, then took Elias’s arm. They walked down the steps and out into the chilly January night to the waiting black cab.
“I’m afraid,” Elias said, once they were settled into the back of the car, “Alex isn’t coming.”
“What do you mean, he’s not coming?” she squeaked.
Elias looked apologetic, but gave a one-shouldered shrug. “There was an emergency at the hospital—as their nearest surgeon, he got called in. Couldn’t very well say no, could he?”
Mia shook her head and sagged back into the seat, her heart sinking to her stomach. “No, of course not. I’m very sorry he won’t be joining us, but although we’re scintillating company, we don’t count as a life or death situation.”
He reached out and squeezed her hand, then kept hold of it. “No, we certainly do not. I hope, though, that I’ll be entertainment enough for you by myself this evening.”
She squeezed his hand back, then leaned over and kissed his cheek, pulling in the scent of his delicious cologne at the same time. “I’m sure you will. Besides, this was part of what you two meant when you were talking about being able to give a woman the attention she deserves between you, wasn’t it? Alex unfortunately can’t make it, but because I’m dating—or whatever the hell we’re calling this—both of you, it means I’m not left high and dry. I’m sure at some point you’ll be the one who has to cancel. These things happen.”
With a smile, Elias said, “They sure do. Though I don’t really get emergencies at work—and if I do, they’re all about which person gets to line their pockets the most, rather than saving lives. But enough of that!” he added brightly, clearly eager to change the sore subject of his chosen career. Though she still didn’t understand why he was so embarrassed about it. And if he hated it so much, why was he still doing it? She wasn’t going to broach that particular topic, though, not tonight. She already had one potentially hairy subject to discuss.
But then how could she, now? How could she talk about the situation with Thomas without Alex present? She stifled a sigh. Fuck it. Looks like it’s going to have to wait.
“So,” she said, “where are we going?”
“You’ll have to wait and see,” he replied with a smirk.
She jabbed him in the ribs. “Seriously?”
“Yes, seriously. Patience, woman! We’ll be there in…” he peered out of the window, presumably to check where they were, “in less than ten minutes, traffic permitting.”
“Hmph.” She folded her arms and pouted. “Guess I’ll just have to wait, then.”
“Don’t sulk.” Elias tapped the end of her nose. “We haven’t seen each other in a little while, so I want smiles and laughter, not pouting. Even though I know you’re faking it.”
She gasped. “I never fake it!”

Sin or piety.
Those are the two things I’m choosing between when I walk up those stone steps and into the church. Heaven or hell. Pain or pleasure. But sometimes, pleasure brings more hurt than pain.
I’ve learned my lesson the hard way and that’s why I’m doing this, giving up everything I know and love for a whole new life. A life dedicated to something, someone, other than myself.
The thing is, sometimes fate has other ideas.
Out of all the churches in town, I picked this one. This building with its vaulted ceilings and stained glass and all its secrets.
This building that houses them.
My five worst sins.
My five most awesome pleasures.

EXCERPT:

"Mrs. Carroll," Hawke says, setting me down suddenly and grabbing the edges of my shirt.  He jerks it back into place and covers up all my bits.
"Father Dell used to ... set a box outside this door to collect donations for the homeless," the woman said, staring, not at the giant man in the body armor and guns, but at me.  Me!
I try to move, but Hawke tightens his grip, the muscles in his arm bulging and tensing like steel.  I can hardly even breathe.  But having that big, solid form behind me is... exhilarating.  Hawke smells like leather and musk and man.
"Yes, well, that's an excellent idea," he grumbles as I stand there like the typical mob-daughter that I am.  Here is a person, unconnected to all of this shit, and I'm not screaming or calling out for help.  Because back home, all that would do is get the old woman killed.
At least, that's what my father would do.
"We'll ... look into that," he continues, reaching past me with a big hand, and slamming the door closed in the old woman's face.
"Your cover is fucked," I breathe, but Hawke just grunts and lets go of me before putting his hands on my shoulders and turning me around to face him.  His eyes bore into mine as I swallow past the lump in my throat.  I look up, up, up at him and wonder if this is the moment where it all ends.  "So, are you going to kill me now?”
"Kill you?" Hawke asks with a long exhale.  "Not exactly.”
He steps back and gives me a look, propping his hands on his hips.
"Not ... exactly?" I choke out as our gazes meet and a hot thrill takes over my body.
"You have two choices here, Natalia: let us take you to the nunnery ... or stay here.”
"And if you do go to the nunnery," Arsen says, grinning maniacally, "you best be careful.  We have agents there, too.  And they'll be watching.”
"Agents?" I ask as Hawke looks me straight in the face.
"If you stay here, you also have two choices," Hawke continues.  "Wait us out until we finish what we came here to do ... or let me teach you.”
"Teach ... me?" I ask as Hawke sucks in a breath.
"Dude, are you serious?" Colt asks, storming over to us and looking between me and Hawke like he's crazy.  "Just let her go, man!”
"I can't let her go!' Hawke roars, and my skin erupts in goose bumps.  "I can't let her go now.”
"She doesn't know anything," Colt says, sounding exasperated.  "Let her walk, man.”
"She knows enough," Hawke responds with a sigh.  "And she's his daughter.  I ... can't let her go."  He stares at me, and I imagine that in a different scenario, hearing those words--I can't let her go--would be a breathtaking experience.
"So ... my choices are go to the nunnery or ... you really are going to kill me?”
"You can stay here until we're finished with our mission.  And then we'll let you go.  But, if you stay, consider signing on with us. After that life you've led, you'd be a perfect candidate.”
"This is ridiculous!" Colt shouts, throwing up his hands and pacing a short, wild rut in the floor.  "You can't hire her.”
"She's perfect," Arsen says, slinking up behind Hawke and taking a seat on the edge of the table.  "With all the shit she must know.”
"I'm willing to hire you to be a part of my team," Hawke says, "but you'll have to be willing to work.”
"Work for ... what?" I ask and he gives me a tight smile.
"If you joined our team, your life would change forever.  I'll give you a rundown, and if you think you're up for it ... we'd love to have you.”
"Hear that?" Arsen smirks.  "We'd love to have you.”
Blinking at the group of men in front of me, I have a bad, bad feeling about this.
