“What’s wrong?” Chad took her shoulders and moved her aside. “Oh, crap. That’s not good.”

And each of her nine-by-twelve-inch canvases appeared to have been sliced with something the size of a Buck knife, like the one Matt packed around. Oh, and there was the buffalo she’d been working on, a gash across his face. Tears pooled in her eyes. “How could he be so evil?”
With quaking fingers, she made a call. “No way.” Her face and ears turned red. “What’s the matter?”
She shook her head and made another call. “I can’t believe this.”
“What?”
“Both Matt and Olivia’s phones are no longer in service.” She shoved the cell into her back pocket. “What are we going to do? How am I going to find my son?”
“Chuck will find him.” He had to. Chad strode to the table and began stacking the paintings.
“Don’t bother. Matt’s behind this mess. Besides, we’ll figure out where he has Basin before his fingerprints are processed.”
Sophie ambled over to one of her wooden easels that lay splintered on the brown carpet. “When I left, this canvas . . . was on the . . .” She pointed to the easel. “It was yellow with
brilliant blues and purples . . .” She hiccupped a sob.
The owl painting now lay crumpled on the floor, a dirty footprint across the top. She picked up the piece and traced the rough gash puncturing its heart.
“How will we find Basin? How will I provide for him? I need money to pay rent. It’s due tomorrow.” Sophie squeezed her eyes shut. “Oh, God, why? Why Basin? Why
my paintings? Just when my life had come together. Why?”
Chad brought her to his chest and let her cry. Releasing an animal-like howl, she collapsed into his embrace. “He’ll pay for this.”

Makenna’s gaze raked over him, and he felt it like a physical caress. “I think I’m overdressed,” she offered, pulling his shirt over her head and dropping her panties until she was all beautiful naked curves before him. “Much better.”
All he could do was nod.
She reached for the water knob. “How hot do you like it?” She slanted her gaze at him with a sexy little smile.
“However hot you like it, Red.”
Water rained down on them, and steam slowly filled the space.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Ten years ago I fell in love with Caden and Makenna and this collection reminded me of just why they hold such a special place in my heart to this day still.  This collection takes readers back to where it all began and then expands on their love story to tie up their HEA with a fresh new bow.  While original readers of this story will feel nostalgic, newer readers will find this story a well-crafted tale that fits beautifully within the genre as it tackles heavy issues while pulling at your heartstrings.

The additional stories to the original pairing of Caden and Makenna make for a more fully fleshed-out romance.  It shows Caden working through his demons with Makenna's love supporting him every step of the way in stories that warmed my heart and showed the true power of love.  There were moments that made me smile while some made me cry, but it was all wrapped up in a blanket of love.  This couple was truly committed to each other, steaming up the pages throughout each story, in a collection that is the perfect way to celebrate a forever love!

My rating for this is an A-

Crap on toast! She’d never seen such a gorgeous man in the flesh before.

Her mouth dried. He had to be in his early thirties, around six foot two or three, with curly dark- blond hair styled in a professional cut. The thick lashes around his light-blue eyes contrasted with the dark tan of his skin. He had a slight overbite, giving him a boyish look around full, lavish lips. Which was a stark contrast to the masculine cleft in his chin.

She sucked in her bottom lip while she scanned down his expansive torso. A costly gray silk suit molded a fit, trim body that no tailor had to hide. His conservative red tie and Italian dress shoes completed the outfit. He screamed high-priced and exclusive. If this man was a banker, she was a cheerleader for the Vegas Golden Knights’s hockey team.

She bit that lip. Damn, every woman in the bank would be hot after this guy. Yeah, and she’d be first in line.

After the man and Claude exchanged greetings, her boss turned to introduce her. With a flourish, he waved between them.

“This is Julienne King.” He clasped his hands behind him and nodded to the younger man. “Julienne, this is Ben Duncan."

Her hands twitched, eager to touch any part of his flesh. Whoa, where did that come from? Shrugging off her inappropriate urge, she let a goofy smile plaster her face.

Then the man, Ben, did a strange thing. He leaned toward her with a slumberous half-lidded gaze.
